The KLR650 was perfect for this ride.
This was a 300 mile loop out of Utah and up through the Nevada desert to have a look at the Big Rock Wilderness area and then on back into Utah. Mostly asphalt.
I decided to ride the dirt back into Utah after passing through the small town of Caliente, Nevada and felt I would more than likely make it through just fine.
You see, we had a huge weather system pass through a week earlier dumping lots of rain and snow and I was a little concerned about the dirt not being dirt but a mix of snow and mud instead that would sink my 500 pound KLR.
And I was close to being right. It got a little spicy on the final stretch and I had a few moments where the thought of getting the bike stuck in the mud and snow in a remote part of the high Utah desert might certainly be a possibility but I pushed through and completed the loop. Good fun indeed!

I'm from Vegas, the reason there are no signs for big rock wilderness is due to the ease of Access for normal people. About 2 years ago some people vandalized the white river narrows archeological site and ruined it beyond repair, they got 2 years in jail each and a heavy fine. Most people don't know this but from the moment you enter the pahranagat valley till pioche there are likely thousands of petroglyphs and archeological sites dating back to at the earliest 8000 BC. The entire area is extremely protected by the Nevada department of wildlife. Infact there used to be at least 4 areas on 93 between Coyote springs and ash springs that you could stop and see petroglyphs at. Now they're all blocked off and hidden because of scumbags who ruin them for fun. I'm lucky to know where quite a few are but I don't tell people. You actually passed 3 sites in the Alamo area alone that were within hundreds of feet of us 93. It's a shame what happened to the history in that area

Thank you for changing up your intro. As a professional fishing guide for 35 years, I have been stuck with a hook more than my share but I still had to turn my head away for that part of your intro EVERY TIME 😂

I was cringing 😟 every time you hit those wet stretches. Beautiful time of year to go through there with the snow in the mountains. Gorgeous scenery!!

Another great video, I really like your KLR content, a bit more biased towards it since I have one. Car running the stop sign at the end of the trip was more dangerous than the slipper rutted out road.

THANKS, I also live where you live, so thanks for showing me these great places. My adventure bike V-Strom 1000 never been off-road, so I'm getting Honda 250F to learn to ride off-road !!

Another great video (KZfaq) by Dave. You always make me smile and while enroute to Enterprise and and getting into the snow and mud I had to laugh. I thought for sure you would go down. I have been up there many times and had to turn around. Even in four wheel drive I felt like I was going to slid into a ditch. I guess I will wait a few more weeks before I do that ride. :-)

When I saw the wet clay ruts up ahead, I was already looking for a place to fall. 🙂
