Audi R8 1-Year Ownership Review and Drive | Best Daily Supercar?!

I’ve officially owned my 2014 Audi R8 Spyder for an entire year now. Having spent a lot of time with this car, I can now review it properly.
Why a spyder(convertible)?
I live in Southern California where it’s sunny 300 days a year! I also like the utility of having an adjustable rear window.
Why a V8?
This is the first car I’ve ever owned, so I felt like getting a V10 would be too excessive. By getting a V8, it gives me something to look forward to, such as owning a Lamborghini Huracan one day.
Daily Driving
I’ve used this car as my daily driver for 4000 miles within a year. The S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission is WAY better than the old R-Tronic. Shifts are very smooth and work well in low-speed traffic. The suspension is slightly harsh but better than any other car in this range.
Attention
The R8 is very balanced between aggressive and classy. You will turn heads in this car. You will get preferential valet treatment in this car. And you don’t get negative attention too. I’ve never had an issue with parking this on a side street. There’s a lot of haters for exclusive brands like Lamborghini, Ferrari, Mclaren, but not for the R8. Everyone seems to love this car.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with my purchase and plan to keep it for another 2 years at least!

This was such a great video, get's one excited to get an R8! I'm curious if you had a chance to drive an R8 that has the gated manual, or the R-tronic version? I've heard that you get more 'drama' with both of those versions, so the driving experience is more visceral. Whereas w/ the S-tronic the shifting is so smooth and perfect, you get a 'smoother' driving experience but the driving experience can be a bit more 'dull' by comparison. Again, just curious if you've had a chance to compare and how'd you compare strictly the driving experience between them--

"People looking to buy R8's are less attention seeking and seem to be nicer" Yeah, it's interesting from all the R8 owner videos I've seen and have been watching, the people who buy and own R8's do seem like very cool people. Now I haven't been watching videos from Ferrari and Lambo owners to see if there's a difference... but i would be curious if other's have noticed any trends about this--

Great job my friend. It makes me want to be behind the wheel of an R8. But you gotta add at least another camera on the dash. We can’t see where you are driving.

I hate how u are shifting with the index finger bro. Thats the wrong finger for those pedals man. Hhaha

LOL it’s the way they were designed. The shifter is aftermarket, glued onto the stock plastic ones. I have to tap it above the midpoint for it to depress :/
