In recent years it's seemed like being Australian is an automatic handicap if you're looking to race in Formula One - be it that you get stuck with a team that doesn't treat you right or you don't get a seat at all despite deserving one.
In this video I wanted to summarise for you just how bad this country's luck is with Formula One.

@paper plane not really, he was the favorite one for the championship at Red Bull and he was the one that Ferrari was mostly worried about in 2010. they were so worried about him that Alonso lost the 2010 title because Ferrari wanted to avoid an undercut in the last race by pitting Alonso at the same time Webber pitted while Vettel stayed out and ended up winning the championship... basically, Red Bull baited Ferrari.

I see your point. But what I am arguing is that he had a real chance at the 2010 title. People always look back at Vettels dominate era between 2010-2013 but forget how close it was in 2010. Four people could have won the championship at the last race. And the history would have been completely different if Webber won. But my point is that I would not call that Webba was in the shadow of Vettel in 2010 if you look into the whole season.

Well even outside formula 1... Will Power, veteran from Indycar, a damn fast driver but unlucky as hell, I only started to watch indycar last season but I could see numerous time he lost wins or good finishing positions due to mishaps out of his control, like when his car overheated in a red flag near the end of the race, costing him a win, being crashed by eager rookies... And then was a big crash some seasonsago that killed a driver and nearly killed him too

Monza 78 he got in to a first lap crash and with no medical car behind the drivers like James Hunt pulled him out with totally crushed legs it takes more than a minute for medical professionals. he gets flown to Milano where it takes time because they don't know what to do meanwhile the hospital is unsanitary with cigarette's on the floor and under the night he died because of kidney failure, later the other one dies both within 2months. 1985 Johansson for Ferrari you lead in imola 3laps left you run out of fuel.

It's gonna be Ricciardo that moves. It has to be. I'm sure he'll get a drive... somewhere, either at Williams, or Aston Martin, but this is the end of his career as a serious competitor. Last year's win was a fluke, every single race except that one was... not amazing. He was decent in Renault for a bit, but they couldn't give him the car. Now, he also doesn't have a good car, but he's also massively overshadowed by Norris. Ricciardo is not the future anymore, Norris is. Him, Russell, Verstappen, Leclerc, Piastri. Ricciardo's time has passed. There's gonna be some interesting comparisons to Webber and his story. Red Bull, overshadowed by a young talent, etc...

I mean no offense, but Mark Webber was never at a championship level. He used to be a good number 1, but not great (didn't have the speed most top drivers show) but he was an excellent number 2 driver. Ricciardo? He had a brief window, but after that he fell off because honestly his mentality isn't up there with Hamilton and the reality is he doesn't know how to make decisions when picking teams. But it's funny because both Ricciardo and Piastri will be in an era of F1 that is closing out and that's when pure talent could get you a seat. Given the corporate level and the prize money... pay drivers are mostly the only drivers that make it. It's not just about owning a team or paying a big cheque/sponsorship for your kid to make it (cough Latifi cough), it's having the money to move up the ranks or even make a drive at any level feasible. Look at Lando or George Russell, their parents are very wealthy. They're not Billionaires that have to buy teams to guarantee seats... but they're drivers with talent who had every opportunity at their feet given their parents wealth. Ricciardo had good upbringings, but were not part of that tax bracket. It's why it's truly wild and impressive what Hamilton has achieved given his background.

I dont think that Australia is really unlucky in F1 thorughout the history. Australia has only a population of 26 million and no really strong domestic car industry. Yet still the country got 4 drivers titles and 43 GP wins (same amount as a country like Italy). Which makes them the 6th succesful country in F1 history, only beeing bested by bigger countries and Finland. So i would say Australia is overperforming consindering their "ressources". Also Webber was not really unlucky, he was just beaten by a better teammate. Piastri cant be yet called unlucky, since his career is just about to start. So there is only Ricciardo left. And yeah, he got kind of unlucky with his timing to join and leave Red Bull and in general his team choices/options. Those honorable mentions were just not really good drivers, they werent unlucky. They were just bad. So overall, i dont think its as bad as the video suggest it to be. 😘

Ricciardo kinda did this to himself, he faced a terrible Renault engine then Red Bull changed to Honda(that gave them a championship) so he fled to Renault to face more engine problems so he fled to mclaren where he hoped that he’d be the better driver and so far that is not the case with poor performance after another so I will be surprised if he resigns with Mclaren but I see him going to a Aston Martin or Williams I think his shot at drive for a championship aspiring team is over

I must mention. You mention luck yes. So the point skew is heavily favoured to lando. 50-15 but Jeddah he was faster and infront and had an engine issue same as Spain and screwed by strategy in Canada. Plus the damage under the car after the lap 1 incident with Carlos which just basically ruled Daniel out of coming back. Like been a few small things at the worst of times that makes it look worse than it really is currently.

Canada could be the dawn of false talents/break throughs Villeneuve after winning 97 didn’t do much and looked very less talented Lance stroll gets the youngest podium sitter and front row in 2017 dosent do much till 2020 and in that years stays 4th in the standings till majello and then doesnt show enough consistency to look as good as the first 3/4 of 2020 Latifi would have finished ahead of George in 2020 due to having more p11 but George gets his merc chance 2021 gets points before George and should have finished closer to him but Belgium happened then just struggles to look as good as those points break though It’s tough being a Canadian and a fan of Canadians where they always look like there going to break though and change the game/there image then become a sort of meme in f1
