Hi folks, summer break is over, autumn is coming, now's the time for a new comping lesson. My best comping lesson so far by the way . . . You will learn a lot of new chords and how to use them in a band situation with a bassist and a drummer. I will show you two rhythmic concepts that you can use for practicing. I have spend a lot of time with the additional material like tabs, chord diagrams, mp3 tracks (and this time the tabs of the bass line of the backing track is included). You can always support my channel by buying this package, so I can go on with new lessons in the future. Thanks for that! Now grab your guitar and start to practice ! All the best from Germany, Achim

Achim Thank you for taking the time and using your knowledge to help other guitarists. Your slow patient approach is valuable and yet you offer these lessons just to share and help without cost. I appreciate that. Thanks again!

I just sang this at a jazz jam, and it's amazing just how hard all of the jazz people worked to be able to play the tune the way they do! So amazing. Thank you for sharing!

It's never been a more appropriate time to study this song... locked at home, but Summer is right right at us. I'm trying to play this on the Brazilian Cavaquinho... there's a lot of work to be done but should be fun. Thanks Achim ! BTW, nice guitar a quite jazzy sound. It's awesome.

hey achim what kind of amp do you use? really love the sound!
@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jack, I'm not using an amp for recordings here on KZfaq, I play directly in my audio interfaces adding just a little EQ, compression and reverb, that's all.
@Thadnill4 жыл бұрын
@@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar what eq, reverb and compression settings would you recommend for this sound that you have achieved in the video?
@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar4 жыл бұрын
@@Thadnill It depends on what kind of guitar you have, the strings, pickups and how you play. That's not easy to say, I think I have a different set up then the most of you . . .

I have no idea what you mean with "solfeggio format" . . . But thanks for your comment, keep on practicing!

Hi, great lesson! Now I have to ask, I can see that you are offering 2 different tracks of autumn leaves in your website? one for 5 euro and one for 7, what is the main difference between them? Are they both in the key of GM ? Cheers!
@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar4 жыл бұрын
I have made 4 videos of Autumn Leaves, two improvisations from 2013 and the new version of 2019 (for 5,49 Euro) and two lessons "Improvisation with Guide Tone Lines" & "Comping". The prices are different because of the additional material available. All videos are in the key of G minor. All the best from Germany !
@Thadnill4 жыл бұрын
@@AchimKohl-JazzGuitarAlright cool! So, I would like to learn both of the improvisation and comping part of this song, it's actually for an audition, I'm planning to play with along with a backing track. So would buying the '' Autumn Leaves - Comping - Jazz Guitar Lesson '' along with '' Autumn Leaves 2019 (new version) - Jazz Guitar Solo - Achim Kohl '' fill my needs to learn all of the parts? All the best from Sweden!
@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar4 жыл бұрын
I think it's good material for an audition, you don't have to play the whole solos, try to learn the best playable choruses of the solos.

Where are these chords in tab?
@alsjdgfhakjhadgkjhf36182 жыл бұрын
Why do you black an f9 on bar 17 when you write am7b5? Do they share a lot of notes so can function similarly?
@alsjdgfhakjhadgkjhf36182 жыл бұрын
For anybody with the same question as I did the answer I believe is that f9 is pretty much am7b5/f the notes G,C,Eb and A are similar in both chords. In one the root is A the other F. As the guitarist doesn’t need to play the root these chords function the same.
