This is my first ever KZfaq video. For this video, I am demonstrating how I axe carve a wooden spoon blank. I'll take you through the steps of processing the half log into a blank, drawing a template, and getting it ready for carving with a sloyd knife.
I am using Canadian sugar maple wood which I harvested conveniently right in front of my door, a storm broke off a large and healthy branch.
These videos should hopefully improve as I keep making them, I am new to video editing and voice overs so I hope that you keep that in mind.
I am making it a point to keep these videos simple and showcase the work only in a clear and simple way.
Tools I am using in this video:
- Gransfors Bruks wildlife hatchet
- Silky Gomboy 210 medium folding saw
- Pencil
- Bendable ruler
The music in the video is by Danheim from the album Hringrás. In order of appearance the songs are:
Track 10: Danelagen
Track 04: Lifa & Dauðr
Track 07: Norðr

Great video, great explanation! And cool music in the background! Although you might want to turn that music down just a bit it is slightly distracting
