According to Wikipedia: Derived from the Old Norse Ássfriðr, a compound name composed of the elements áss (a god) and friðr (beautiful, fair). I actually love the name, but I'm sure she's destined for a rough time in middle school.

Interesting to note that in a deleted scene, it's revealed that Jan has been talking to Michael about contributing to Astrid's 529.

Jan kind of foreshadows her being pregnant in season four episode two, her reaction right before "So what is Ryan Doing here?". I'm not 100% sure and I forget what Michael said to make her react that way but I'm pretty sure it was a tell !!

Not to get too dark but this quote: "Jan and I have a safe word in case things go to far. Foliage. And if one of us says that word, the other one has to stop. Although last time, she pretended she didn't hear me" is bordering on sexual assault or abuse. I know a lot of the relationship is played for laughs but we have to remember that men can be abused too, and Jan and Michael's relationship is definitely a good example.

I suppose that your idea is analysing each episode from a big picture perspective. However, I wonder if most people here like me are watching the series for the first time and wouldn't like to have information about future episodes, especially about the finale episode. Maybe I am alone here... I don't know, but other than that, I love your videos.

I'm glad you're loving the channel! I think it's much more fun to talk about the series as a whole, but I get that might not be right for someone just making their way through the series for the first time.

I could be wrong, but I think she’s aware of the power she has over Michael. And I think that she realized that Holly would be a threat to that power. Now, why she would care about keeping that power?....that’s a whole other thing.

@@jenm1 I forgot about Holly talking to Jan from my first watch. But Holly begins making jokes that Michael would make, and she probably realized that Holly was a better fit and she would lose Michael forever. Which wound up being true. Its a mystery why she cares though. Maybe he was the last vestige of the power she had before being fired. Also, I feel like that what drove her over the edge was Michael breaking up with her, the though of him ending it with her was just not something she could accept. Only she could end it.

Jan is good but is to high pitch for me. While keven is good it is to low for me. Andy sang I will remember you it is heartbreaking and got me sad the first time but that doesn't mean he's a good singer at the audition he did for a singing company he did terrible. Kreed is relaxing and smoothing and toned right so kreed is the best singer. That's just my opinion.

I just don't understand what Jan's motives were for manipulating Michael. Was it just about control or money? Or was motherhood not what she was expecting and she just wanted to have someone to help her?
