Welcome back. I'm glad you liked this one, it was the video that went viral in 2014 and got them a lot of attention outside of Japan before they started touring abroad and it can go either way because it confuses a lot of people who don't expect those voices with those instrumentals. This is the official video, the audio is from the studio recording dubbed over the live performance - as you have heard already, they sound even better live without the over-processed studio vocals. The band in this one you noticed wearing skeleton suits - that was not a real band. Early on BABYMETAL didn't have the financial backing to pay musicians, so the instrumentals were pre-recorded and played on track while the guys in skeleton suits (they were called Babybones) pretended to play the guitars and drums (there was no real pretence, everybody knew what they were doing and that it was just for show). From October 2012 a real band was being phased in gradually playing at a couple of festivals and playing the encores in a few shows while BABYMETAL were trying to earn their place and gathering an audience nobody knew would exist when they first started out. This concert was the Legend 1997 concert in December 2013 (the day after Su-metal's 16th birthday, she was born in 1997) and it was the last big concert they did where the Babybones guys appeared before they were retired. The live musicians (the Kami Band - you will see them in other videos wearing traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint and in more recent videos wearing dark robes and masks) came on for the 5 encore songs. Their next big shows were at the Budokan in Tokyo in March 2014 and the Kami Band became their full time support for all live shows from there on. The Kami Band are some of the very best session musicians to be found in Japan - each one of them is world class. They do have their own bands and projects so there have been a lot of Kami Band members swap in and out depending on their availability, but you will see the same hard core of about 6 musicians in the vast majority of their live performance videos. In 2019 BABYMETAL went on their longest world tour up to that rime and the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) was introduced to support them on that - they are currently supporting BABYMETAL in the US and they will be back in the UK and Europe in a month or so from now. I think I suggested this after your 'Monochrome' reaction. For another reaction try their first major event outside of Japan, one of the biggest metal festivals in the UK - and they were placed on the main stage in front of 50-60,000 UK metalheads who didn't have a clue who or what they were (and a few that did had only seen the 'Gimme Chocolate' video when it went viral and thought it was a joke or gimmick and they should not be there so had threatened on social media to throw bottles and boo them off stage). They were aged 16 and just turned 15, in a foreign country where they didn't speak the language and had about 25 minutes, just 5 songs, to win this crowd over. The last song of the set is 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (call it IDZ it means Bullying, No More, For Ever) live at Sonisphere UK 2014. You will hear what the crowd thought of them at the end.

Leda, one of my favourite guitarists used to be in Deluhi, and he now plays for Baby metal, that was my intro to this project! The music is very entertaining and the lives are just amazing. Hahaha... great reaction, thanks and welcome (back?) to BABYMETAL. Yes, "Gimme Chocolate" is a huge juxtaposition of cute lyrics, vocals and choreo with freaking metal instrumentals. Totally on purpose, of course. And that was the reason why this music video went viral in 2014. Unfortunately this official music video has the studio version of the audio over the "Legend 1997" concert visuals (from December 2013). Also, the guys in skeleton costumes are called "babybones" and they were there miming to play the instruments because they couldn't afford an actual band. at first (they started in 2010). The Kami Band (their real live backing band) appeared later that night for the five songs encore. They replaced the "babybones" for good since March 1st 2014. So, you will need to watch an actual live performance to really listen to the Kami Band playing. 👍 👍 BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol school/group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). This is a far cry from your reaction to "Monochrome", isn't it? Why? Because this IS BABYMETAL!!! Total in-your-face kawaii metal. BTW: BABYMETAL is NOT K-pop (they're from Japan, not Korea) or J-pop or even J-metal - BABYMETAL is kawaii (cute) metal, the first kawaii metal group ever: they made listening to metal fun!!! A suggestion: when you pause, take the video back five or ten seconds before restarting so as to not lose the flow of the video (I can't be sure, but this might also help avoid being blocked). Which brings up another point: pausing two or three times during the video is fine (no more than five) but pausing every five or ten seconds is unsatisfactory. You are definitely losing the flow of the song. I should have known something was amiss when a reacter turns a four-minute song into a FIFTEEN minute (nearly sixteen) reaction video. It's good that you are getting a taste of the REAL BABYMETAL, and that you seem to enjoy it but, after ten minutes, I have had enough - you're pausing far too much. I came to watch a reaction video, not start-stop-start-stop-start-stop-start-stop-start-stop-start. An excellent song by BABYMETAL - it's a pity you managed to ruin it. Thumbs down.
