I'm not against all age gap relationships, but this one appears on the surface to be what a lot of them are (especially a 40 year old with a teenager) where the man wants someone they can easily control. And you're right, it seems like they're baiting people for views.
@jsas2047

Right?? I wouldn't care much if they were 30 and 45 or smth, but to be in a relationship you at least need to be in a similar point in life. Someone who has been an adult for 20 years, has (hopefully) been working and living independently for a number of years, who hasn't been in school for over a decade compared to someone barely out of highschool, who hasn't been living independently, someone who might not even be fully working yet and just getting their degree.. You're not eventuell remotely the same.

The way the young woman was sounding annoyed/kinda in disbelief when she started that video about the husband "babysitting" as an extra christmas present- it seemed to either completely go over the husbands head, or he was pretending nothing was wrong with that on purpose, and you see the young woman smile/ back down when he says its the "greatest gift" for a wife/ mother and kisses her and his child... Its so sad.

It could be her facial expression but hey the fact he’s already timing her for how long she’s out the door-Sis should not post this online and find that cute to laugh at. There’s too many stories of father being lazy and not involved their children life that they force to happen resulting to the women carrying the entire burden of being a parent, making a joke of it on TikTok is not cute.

this was a result of grooming, 100%. he was her high school friend's DAD, and her friend (his daughter) didn't go to the wedding either if that tells you about how it's perceived even by some of HIS family. they "got together at 19" but he knew her as a kid. the most damning part is that they've lied multiple times about their story to try and cover it up. first they told the truth on yt, then they deleted it and made up another story about her meeting him when she did waitress work, and then they lied again and said she met him when she was out at a bar with her friends. so while they're telling the truth about HER family and how they factor in, they're trying to bury his side which is significantly more damning than just a family not approving of their daughter marrying a way older man or something. i don't trust this for jack shit - both from the vibes in those videos, and from the facts.

I know some of these points are in the video, so consider them an seconding of those issues. 1) You don't 'babysit' your own damn kids, they are YOUR KIDS - don't have them if you don't consider it your job to look after them, whenever or however, because you literally never know when your kid might need you for even the smallest thing. 2) 'Freedom' shouldn't be a fucking GIFT to mothers - even if there's stuff only she can do, and the kid will tend to go to her for stuff, don't make your kid feel like only their mother will listen to them. 3) I confess, maybe I'm reading into this too much and I'm willing to admit this is from a white person's perspective, but anybody else find that phrasing REALLY FREAKING CREEPY coming from a white husband who's old enough to be this black lady's dad? Like, it would be weird and creepy from any older guy to his much younger wife imho, but that particular situation is just like 'ew, why would you EVER say freedom is a 'gift' to them?'

my personal view on this age gap is very biased because i’m 19 and my dad is 42. he was 23 and my mom was 24 when i was born, which may be young to some people, but still, i personally cannot see this without also seeing power dynamics. even if it’s not predatory, most 41 year olds are pretty set in their career and may already have a child from a previous relationship, whereas most 19 year olds are taking a gap year or just begun college. very different life places, but we don’t know these people or their stories.

Im a gay guy, and when I was 18 my brothers ex girlfriend hooked me up with a 30 year old sex offender. Was a teacher who got caught with his student. She knew this before she introduced us. He was extremely controlling and abusive. I wasn't allowed to have guy friends, even if they were straight. He went thru my phone on multiple occasions, and found nothing. I was young, and stupid, but I eventually broke it off with him when he threw my phone out the window. After I punched him, and he left me on the side of the road. That age gap was way too much. What does a 30 year old man have in common with a 18 year old kid? It's sick, and I feel embarrassed about it to this day. I think people mature the most 18-24. I dont think anyone over the age of 30 should have anything to do with someone 6 years younger than them. It almost always ends badly. Just like mine did.

There would have to be such an unlikely set of circumstances occurring for it to be arguable that this relationship is anything but grooming. As a 25 year old dating a 36 year old, I am incredibly aware that it takes a very particular set of circumstances for an age gap to be healthy. I had a life that propelled me into desiring stability and having high expectations that many people in my own age bracket couldn’t meet. At 19 though? With someone actually old enough to be your dad? At 19 I wasn’t mature enough to be dating someone long term, period. And now she’s locked in with a baby and hasn’t even realized what is most likely years of manipulation occurring. The fact also that he was willing to say her mom was scared for her daughters life without feeling the need to clarify, almost sounding proud that the mother was so disturbed? Either they’re trolling or something is very very wrong. I hope this poor woman doesn’t become a dateline episode.

As a somewhat recently divorced 26 year old dating a 42 year old I definitely think where that younger person is in life and mindset play a huge factor. Never thought I'd be in a relationship with someone with such a gap but he and I met as adults I'm a homeowner etc. He meets me where I need stability and maturity wise and it's great but there's been very honest conversations about the issues age gaps can present and we actively communicate on such things. But he also completely understands the nuances of mens predatory behavior towards young women and can identify that and how he would feel if his young daughter once grown up was in a relationship with an age gap like ours

I have a better sense of self at 35, and there’s just a different air about the one I’m with now. It’s in the lack of leverage it feels like he’s trying to put on me. I’ve been chronically ill all my life to the point everyone is always going to have more experience than me, more money than me (I’m on disability) and stuff… but there is something to say between the night and day behaviors of a groomer and a healthy age gap relationship…

Young people are not entitled to make old people feel youthful last time I check that comes within age and just life in general. Plus old people are not Guaranteed to give you an earlier retirement, I mean her giving birth to this guy kid shows what purpose she serve in. I don’t really care much for age gaps relationship because it’s really not my business but to advocate people to go an do that as if this is not the act of a grommer? It’s just very damaging. AIN'T NO WAY he didn't get to her when she wasn't a MINOR. age gaps are perfectly fine AFTER the ages of 21-25 to lets say 40 or even 50. but a BARELY LEGAL 19 year old & a 40 year old man? A lot of guys say that a lot of young girls look for older men because they are looking for stability. Which usually young men don't offer yet and for the most part they want to be messing around with different women before even thinking about settling down. I was 19 when I met a guy who was 30 about to turn 31. My friends were grossed out, but I thought I was just mature. I never had any boyfriends through highschool never dated anyone so he was my first one. It was hell and only as I got older and began to realize he was just manipulating me to fit what he wanted. Since we have been going out a lot I thought that we were girlfriend and boyfriend, but I was so wrong. He knew I had no experience what so ever. He worked with one of my friends and he was flirting with her and other girls. I could clearly hear him. Well when my friend asked him if we were together he said no. That he never asked me to be his girlfriend. So he had the right to be talking to other girls. To say the least I was extremely hurt I cried and by that time I had fallen for him. I had that little girl mentality that we were going to be together forever. It took me awhile before I finally was able to let him go, but through all that time I let him use me, I did as he pleased just so I can be his girlfriend. I later found out he had a 1 or 2 year old son and the mother of his child was one year younger than me (18). Thinking about everything that happened he had so many red flags, but I was just too stupid to see it. He really did get a gullible stupid girl. I regret meeting him and now im just grossed out that I even liked someone that old. Now that im able to see through their bs I tell girls younger than me to be careful and if I see something that is wrong I let them know so they can hopefully think about it. Ladies be careful and don't waste your youth on some of these older men. There is usually a reason why some of these old dudes are single.

This “young wife” and mother always looks mentally disturbed , like her eyes always look like there is a LOT of CRAZY energy behind them, like she’s going to snap at any point and do something incredibly horrific, like stabbing her family to death or something. This couple rubs me the wrong way and annoys me a bit for that reason. I think we will be reading about them in the future and not for good reasons.

When it comes to age gaps, people support it if the woman is older than her guy. Why is that?
@venusretrograde6177

I’ve had a cautious eye on this couple ever since they started making content when she was pregnant. I could see a mile away that something like this was going to happen. If that much of her family was adamantly against their marriage, it could have been more than just the age gap they were worried about. I’m very suspicious of a man in his 40s who thinks it’s a good idea to peruse a girl who is only 19. A few weeks ago she posted a video that was just her standing in front of the camera with her baby and the caption said “I used to be a hot 19 year old but now I’m a wife and a mom.” That right there really seems to be saying a lot without saying much at all…

Based on my personal experience, a lot of the guys I went to high school with seemed immature. That’s not to say they were but they might’ve come off that way at the time. There’s this false hope that the older guys will “get you” or be “more serious.” Of course, I never dated in high school or until I met my late husband so I can’t speak further than what my thoughts were. I’m sure some date older for the benefits (teens who can’t buy alcohol / $$ / etc).

@annab4931

I refuse to date men who are younger than me because in my experience, men take a lot longer to mature and become kind/ self-analytical/ grow out of the misogynistic thinking patterns that they picked up as teens. Even so, there have been guys older than me that have still needed mothering or basic empathy lessons. Ofc I think partners should always be growing and changing and learning from eachother, but I'm not looking to raise someone else's grown ass adult. Also society shows aging in men as desirable for the most part (silver fox etc.) And act like aging is the worst thing a woman can do. Which only adds to older men and younger women seeking eachother out.

You know, as an 19 year old, well 20 this year. I can safely say I am not at all prepared to br an adult. I am not 100% sure what I'm doing and at this point I am jusy winging it. Like, if I dated someone in their late 40s they would be old enough to be my parents, which is weird as fuck, and we are at totally different parts of our lives. They're busy having their midlife crisis while my brain isn't even fully developed. Also, I can safely say I would not be responsible or finacially stable enough to have a kid, I would be completely financially reliant on an older partner, which on avarage is not a healthy dynamic

it feels like these couples make these videos because people already criticize them, so might as well make lemonade. Obviously this looks like grooming and in a few years, when the glamour fades, she will realize that she is married to someone who took advantage of her. She already sounds kind of annoyed at his parenting style, imagine a few years with a little more experience, when she sees her kid become 19 and she realizes "i would never let a man take away my child, how could that even happen to me". These kinds of relationships are always like watching a car crash

There’s 15 years between my wife and I, when we started dating I was 53 and she was a few days shy of 38. I'd known her for two years before that and as friends I had feelings for her. I never told her how I felt as I didn’t want to creep her out asking her to go on a date. She’s also several grades higher than me in looks, she is almost perfect except for one thing…her taste in men, she asked me to go on a date. This guy seems to act in a very paternal or older brother sort of way. There seemed to be a keenness to get across how much she owes his family. The connection just didn’t seem to be there. I mentioned in a reply to another comment that I think it’s impossible for a father to babysit his own children. He was with them whilst his wife did another important household chore.

Nothing against her, but I see this in a lot of the young women in age gap relationships. The BF/husband has groomed her by telling her how mature she is and how she's so grown up, that she feels the need to prove how smart and mature she is. Her immaturity is driving the need to prove their relationship. And I think the men go along because they think it somehow absolves them from being seen as pedos.

Sounded like English was his second language? Maybe that’s why he said “babysit”? However! You don’t say babysit when your own kids….you’re parenting. Just bc the other parent is doing other stuff….doesn’t mean you’re babysitting… Ppl will make videos about any minor inconvenience in their lives…some just need to stay behind closed doors. Not everyone needs to know what you’re doing or getting into arguments about & getting strangers involved with it all…no.
