Clerks 2 was disturbingly brilliant. It really drags you into the film with it's in depth conversations, and kind of like a disgusting train wreck of events, you Can't look away, and now you're part of it, but at the end of the day everyone's Heart is in the right place.

Mike Fu There is more heart in Clerks 2 than in anything else Smith has ever done. I wasn't aware of the (almost) fallout between Kevin and Mosher when I saw it for the first time, but you could tell how personal it was from the first scene. Chasing Amy had a big heart and showed Smith's sentimental side off, but Clerks 2 was his heart. Knowing what was happening in his life now, you can dissect every scene in it and pick out what in his life makes him happy, scared, melancholy and insecure. The emotion invoked by the film is real and almost impossible to replicate on that level out of any normal script. I think that Kevin's personal story is what makes his films great. Watching Clerks, you can feel how hungry he was. With Mallrats you can see complacency and studio interference. Chasing Amy brought the hunger back and showed off what he had learned since Clerks. Dogma showed that he was in the groove and felt unstoppable. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was a celebration and looked like a hell of a lot of fun. Then Clerks 2 was a VERY bittersweet goodbye tie a decade and a half of life lessons, friendships and the personification of a dream come true. The end was beautiful but you could sense fear a little bit; uncertainty. Its kind of chilling.

I never really put together how dark the ending to this movie was. It kind of seems to be framing a "happily ever after" ending but it transforms into a dark twisted "same old ever after",with a sense of existential dread. It basically ends the same as the graduate. The heroes get exactly what they wanted and the world is theirs, but the movie hangs on the extra second just to fill the audience with a sense of unease. It's beautiful really.

Being a huge fan of Clerks had me a skeptic as well of the part 2. In what IMHO is a rarity, the sequel really was a well written & shot film that met all expectations and actually surpassed some with such a powerful ending! This is just as excellent, I love the candid & honesty of Kevin Smith. It really comes forth in his projects. You can see it is not about the money, but keeping honest to his vision & I respect the hell out of that.

Even if you don't like most of his films you got to admire Kevin Smith as he's someone who knows his strengths and weaknesses and plays to his loyal audience who stick by him. Also one of the best directors for loading up his DVDs/Blu Rays with ton of extras and great documentaries like this that in some cases are better then the feature films themselves (also the one that was done for Clerks is well worth watching too). I like Clerks 2, certainly isn't as groundbreaking as the first film but it has it's own charms. I think the original cast of Jeff Anderson and Brian O'Halloran aren't the greatest actors ever but you can tell they are having fun with it, especially Anderson who seemed to have a real love hate it relationship with Clerks. I think Rosario Dawson adds a bit of backbone to the film, and you totally believe her character would fall in love with Dante. For it's weaknesses, it doesn't quite have that low key charm of the original which is one of that films qualities, that dance sequence is awful and takes me out of the film, none of the new characters are as memorable as the original cast. But besides that it's a fun little movie and a good follow up. Great documentary to watch to see how hard and tough it is to get a film off the ground.

@57:17 Randell in jail with Dante. I have to say, Jeff Anderson was a world class actor here. It's a brilliant scene, the whole film hinges on this scene, and would have failed if Jeff didn't make you believe it. That's called acting. Yea, I was fucking shocked too!

@ready 2fly he doesn't want to do Clerks 3. Smith has the script finished presented to him numerous times and but he keeps denying it. Smith said he will never do Clerks 3 unless Anderson agrees to return.

ready 2fly like Smith says it’s not 100% no but it’s more likely no than yes. I would love to see a trilogy but clerks 2 did have the perfect ending. Not sure where they can take it.. nobody has interest in a story about Dante’s kid, or Randal finding love. Ya know what I mean.

nothing wrong with him wanting to not continue. Maybe the script for 3 wasnt actually that good. Look at Yoga Hosers (which i enjoyed but its worse than Jersey Girl, and i actually like Jersey Girl) He adapted the script for Clerks Sell Out into Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Clerks 2. Maybe the unused Clerks 3 material will make Jay and Silent Bob Reboot that much better. Can't wait for reboot. Maybe Affleck can play Bluntman since he looks more suited for the role lately anyway.

Mosier seems to think Jersey Girl was their first time working with big name celebrities... Yeah, those scenes with no names like Chris Rock, Alan Rickman, George Carlon, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in Dogma nailed that idea...
