Do a video where you compare carbon fiber barrels from proof, Christensen, begara, fierce, preferred barrel blanks. See who makes the best and who has the most thermal shift.

Carbon barrels are too variable. You’ll get good and bad ones from each company.

My first rifle was a tikka and I’ve never had a reason to switch brands after that. They like just about anything you run through them and pretty much always stay under an inch if you do your part.

Lots of great rifles there but I’m sticking with the tried and tested Tikka. They’ve been accurate and consistent from the start. So much so that they’re almost boring. That’s what I want in all tool and rifles are tools to get a job done. They’re no different to a hammer or a skill saw. If it ain’t broke then don’t fix it!

Where do you find that info ? I’m having trouble getting a b-14 ridge 243 win to group well . I’ve tried 5 different cartridges and have not found one that consistently groups 1moa or better

Yes, I appreciate that you said rifles are individuals which is why I hand load. Instead of buying boxes of different ammo I just work up a load that works for my rifles. Less expensive too.

That is one great reason to reload. It's crazy to spend the price of a rifle on testing ammo it likes. I do likewise. I started reloading when I shot a 4-inch group out of factory loads in my 30-06 with Remington 30-06 ammo. It is equally crazy to spend twice as much for a scope than the rifle it goes on. There are many good scopes that are budget scopes. One just needs to do the research.

@@garrytalley8009Hi Garry I actually follow that rule of thumb of spending twice as much on a scope than what my rifles cost. Of course I’ve only spent $300 to $500 for my rifles and spent $500 to $850 on scopes. I have Athlon, Falcon and Sightron scopes, all are great value for the money.

My approach in 6.5 creedmoor 2019 model is very consistent at 0.4 moa groups. I kept the factory stock, fits me well and feels comfortable to shoot. Freaking love that rifle

One gun that I think a lot of people forget to review is the Winchester model 70 the new ones anyways. I have one in 300 win mag and it’s super accurate and smooth

Mine is the Rocky Mountain elk foundation edition but worth every penny in my opinion especially since it has controlled round feed like the old mausers do instead of the push feed which in cases does work for sone guns but I have only had issues with it.

Great video Jim. Question, I've just started to dip my toes into long range shooting, and I am starting out relatively basic by building an AR platform "Bolt Action", which consists of an Aero Precision lower, Lantac upper with their straight pull BCG, Brownells handguard, Magpul pistol grip & PRS Lite stock, Ballistics Advantage 20-inch 223 Wylde barrel and a 4x16x44 Vortex Diamondback FFP scope. So outside of a typical A2 Flash Hider, what muzzle device would you recommend that wouldn't be ridiculously concussive to shooters on the left and right of me but would still provide some reduced vertical movement ? Thanks

Do you have an optic recommendation? I'm looking for something that would allow me better PID at range than the 4x ACOGs I train with. I'm looking for something that can do 1x but also something I could use for spotting/range. I'm trying to push out to 1km without too much optic. What has really turned me away is when users say optics get blurry or dim with higher power zooms or bigger spreads 1-6-8-10-12 on LPVOs. Wishlist: I haven't found anything, but I want it to snap in, no variable. Just 1 and 10 not 1-10. 10 Would also be nice because I could say it's 10 times or 1/10th what I see.

Hi. Thanks for the video. Just wanted to get your thoughts on a Tilla Tac A1 in 6.5 Creemoor with the Burris Eliminator 6 scope? I'm new to this and like shooting with my buddy. It's just target shooting from 100 yards a d he shoots out to a mile. I've shot out to 300 yards. Just wondering for a beginner if that's the best use or bang for your buck. It's fairly expensive and was hoping to get your thoughts. Thx

I LOVE the idea of the Accuracy report. I have been trying to do that with a group of friends. We've also been seeing the same thing, there definitely are certain loads that seem to cross over to multiple rifle types really well. Just a quick note, should the submit report be a spreadsheet form? so that you get specific fields such as brass type, primer type etc? I just provided a few of my fav's, though forgot to provide primer detail...

Great video. Love your honesty. ....and then one sometimes one just gets lucky on both the rifle and hand-load ammo. Kimber Mountain Ascent in .300 WSM. Hand-loaded 180gr Nosler Accubonds. Will easy do a sub 1" MOA if the shooter can shoot a lightweight mountain gun. Last 5-shot group I shot was a .284" at 100 yds. Most seem to dislike mountain guns. Barrel is about as thick as a pencil and unforgiving to a shooter with bad shooting habits. I'll have to look to see if you've reviewed any mountain guns. It's sooooo easy to NOT shoot a 1" MOA with any rifle....would never be stupid enough to take your 1" MOA challenge.

When changing stock especially chassis you really have to ignore the first shot and just call it the settling shot then shoot a 3 shot group. I bet that bergara continues to shoot little knots 👍

I would be super interested to see a set of guns tested with multiple 3 shot groups and multiple 5 shot groups to see if the average is the same or if there's a significant difference. I've gone back and forth on 3 vs 5 shot groups and I'm convinced the 5 shot group is a more accurate representation of accuracy but would a 3 vs 5 multiple group average show there's no advantage to those extra shots? Ammo is expensive sooo...what you say, will you test this? Edit: apologies for broaching the group issue but I do think it would make a fascinating video down the road.

Try the APA hyper tap... I've put it on a 308 and a 7 PRC... knocks the recoil down to 22-250 levels for 7 PRC and 223 levsl for the 308

Too bad we don’t see more wood stocks or even more laminate stocks these days. A lot of people I talk to prefer wood stocks or even a nice laminate stock. I know the trend is synthetic or chassis and some look nice but still can’t beat the looks of a nice wood stock! I know they cost more just be nice to see more options for them. Thanks for the videos they are very informative!

I want more of these guns. Unfortunately I'm a lefty. Savage 7MM Mag rifle I have or used to be is a tack driver. Aside from the very accurate .22 competition rifle I shot ,very briefly in 1974 while in the ROTC the most accurate .22s I shot growing up in the 1960's and used as a young adult were off the shelf a pump action and lever action rifles with long octangular barrels made in the early 1900's. I think they were both Winchesters. I also have (meaning my wife has) a Browning 22. Lever action that is equally as accurate. They all brought in their fair share of small game here in Southwest Idaho.

I'm from South Africa, sooting a HOWA .308 with costom loads (150g hornady interlock with 42.5 grain riflex green [somchem s321 replacement] and cci200 primers) I get a .62-inch groop and the rifle cost me $ 373 (R7000). Do you get howa in the us??

Seeing some of the reviews on the new Ruger American Gen 2has me really interested. I was never really too interested in the Ruger American when they came out. Yeah people were getting good accuracy with them and such, but I just couldn't get over the cheap plastic flexible stock and the action seemed a bit rough. I know it probably wpuld be easy to get a much better stock for them like a Boyd's or Bell & Carlson, but why do that when I could spend a bit extra to get something a bit better put of the box. The new Gen 2's however have me intrigued with some of their new features and that they have a stiffer stock.
