Fantastic content as always! However I think there is a slight misconception about how tilt sensors work. Two tilt sensors placed in the same direction on the same body will always output the same number. I encourage you to test this for yourself. Keep the great videos coming!

You’ve made ballast system tutorial before with sliders and weight blocks with PID and I found that 5 (P), 0 (I), 1500 (D) is the best (in my opinion) setting. I tried it on many boats/ships and it works perfectly fine 😁

Nice, hey for your last video on the twin otter the problem with the wings I sa control/lift glitch that occurs when a seperate entity has no thrust on it (the wing mounted engines is y the ailerons worked and the rudder and elevators did not) it would be great to bring this awareness it’s been in the game since the start and I don’t have a big enough voice to c it change. Keep up the. Ids I found this helpfull

"The higher the tilt sensor is, the more tilt you're gonna get" How does that make any sense? Yes, it travels further from side to side the higher it is, but the degrees of tilt stays the same. The boat doesn't bend, so it's tilting just as much on the top as it does on the bottom.

I agree. Maybe he could make a video on how to do a diesel electric setup where you have Diesel engines connected to a generator to charge the battery and electric motor to drive the creation

I read on the forum a way to place a clutch between the generators and the engine that will engage proportionally depending of the load needed to keep the battery full. By doing this, the clutch reduce the generator load on the engine, saving precious power for speed. Indeed a video on this would be quite amazing. Power management/generators are indeed one of the only tutorial missing in that serie! Wonderful channel, it is pure gold :)

I suppose the same system(s) could be applied to bow/stern for pos and neg pitch probs. I love these tutorials. As other viewers have said, it makes this great game so much richer when you can understand how to utilize all the beautiful complexities.

I had an idea to make a ballasting system that in addition to counteracting roll, it would also set the ship to a certain depth. That way, if you were making a cargo hauler, like an oil tanker, for example, it could empty the ballast tanks while filling the oil tanks, which would maintain keel depth. My system uses four tanks, and four depth sensors. The depth sensors would feed into a greater-than/less-than comparison chip, with the number it's comparing to being set by the ship captain. Basically, if the ship was deeper than desired, the system would automatically activate the pumps to pump water out of the ballast tanks. It doesn't have any provisions for if you want the ship rolled or pitched, but I don't really see that being desirable, anyway, so I don't think it would be an issue.

Another potential use of this could be to have it on a switch, so when loading in or taking on cargo/fuel you turn it on to get it level then you turn it off so it doesn't waste power when turning or on rough seas.

Pumps dont consume electricity in my experience, I put fuel pumps in my plane and the battery level never changes

Thank you very much for your tutorials. I just began the game, but it already gives a good idea on how to move further. A quick question though, on big ships, is it worth using a balast+counterweight system for stabilization or are they redundant? Ballasts seems to be slower than the moving weight, but still useful for cargo ships.

Don't know about the money aspect, but I've found out, that small rails with weight blocks are kinda more compact and ten times easier. Just shove a tilt sensor data right into rail and it will work like PID without any other things needed. For speed you can just add logic Function x*10*Y(where Y is the speed you want to have at the end). I use x*20 - x*30. It doesn't need any threshold gates or anything and doesn't overflow your ballast tanks without dedicated drain system.

Hey nj, for the second method, maybe you should use a fluid meter(measures the water level when not in a sealed compartment), as it outputs 0 at the waterline(I think)

Neat. I wonder how one would go about making it faster to respond - more pumps maybe? I've got a ship with a helipad that for some reason always leans in one direction or another unless it's moving, and when I land my helicopter on it it rolls over. If the ballasts could react fast enough hopefully they could balance things out quickly enough to keep the ship from rolling.

I had a ship that was basically a rebuilt barge lol and I modified it to be capable of landing a helicopter on it for a friend it when moving in more than choppy water often went under the waves lol so lol

Had a ship with a custom fuel tank and when I rammed something water would leak in. If you have a pump in your fuel line then it will work until there just is to much water, then the engine will just stop

Best thing would be adding a breaker switch to disable it once it has leveled out. This way it doesn't try to keep balancing and potentially adding more water when going trough waves

Yah you could, also could just increase the values in the threshold gates so it doesn’t do any between -0.3 and 0.3 for example

@MrNJersey Would there be any problems combining both a PiD stabilized rudder system and ballast Stabilizer system? And if you add more Pumps to the ballast system would it be more reactive, in the process of making a bigger ship and wondering if combining them would bring the best of both methods into a singular stabilizer system.

@MrNJersey i litterly try since a whole day and i cannot get it to work i have 1 ballast tank a keypad and 2 pumps but regardless what i do the pumps go crazy i have a costum tank an the only thing i want is put a number in the keypad the tank should fill up to that volume wich is in liters and if i reduce the number from lets say 500 back to 200 the tank should drain but it´s not working it seems like the pump fight each other or one stays constant on

Hey, can we have a video on how to set up engines so that all you have to do is press a button for them to turn on and idle in advanced mode? Then all you need to do is use throttle from the helm or something instead of setting the engine throttle before starting it so it won't stall.

I have seen setups were water is pumped from custom tanks to regular tanks. This supposedly changed the weight of the fluid. Is this efficient in submarines?

Haven’t seen it before and in theory custom tanks are more less the same weight as normal tanks as far as I’m aware

Great tutorial again! Maybe a bit off-topic; but since you are using pumps here. i can't find any information or video on when pumps are needed for like fuel or air and such (for engines). Can you maybe guide me?

It’s changed so much over time, usually a general rule of thumb is if you use more than ten pipes the use a pump. Or if you are pushing fluid from one place to another. If it’s less than 10 and your engine status says less than 100% on fuel then add more pumps. Hope this helps

Does the second ballast system have problems with high waves? if you are using altimeters and your ship hits a big wave the altitude increases, is not that a problem?

It looks like the system wont work. I have now tried everything but the only way to get it working it is by a toggle button to let the fluids pump to work.

Instead of 4 pumps and using outside water, couldn’t you use two pumps and transfer it between tanks in a closed system? The only problem to solve is to load water in initially to have enough to shift around. If half of both were loaded, it would be exactly enough to fill one tank completely and completely drain the other, which should be the most drastic that the system can get anyways when trying to correct.
