They're just absolutely ridiculous! Layers upon layers upon layers... and it just doesn't sound messy at all!!! Sometimes I feel like Kanami mastered the "silence" between melodies, the breaks they use in their composition to let each vocal line or instrument shine. Silence is such an important aspect of music which often gets overlooked, I think that's also how they get their unique rhythm sections. There's many parts in their song where all except one instrument stop playing for fractions of a second and it highlights that one instrument. Of course silence is used in every melody, but I don't know, somehow the silence in her compositions feels like it's deliberately placed to let the instruments interweave... Like making a melody out of silence, does that make any sense?? I don't know, that's the best I can try to explain it lol! I think at this level of musicality almost all logic flies out of the window and it's just feeling. Like you said in the video, the moments where Kanami just gets lost in the musical world... I like to imagine her sitting at home or in the studio and just having these expressions she sometimes has on the stage like the one in your drawing. It's honestly fuckin' beautiful. I don't have words to describe how much I love this band. For me they seriously are the embodiment of music. I'm SO glad it seems like they really had such an impact on you as they did for me. And again I absolutely love the template you picked for Kanami's drawing. Fuckin' perfect! Thanks as always, absolutely loved it! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KANAMI!!!

There's right brain, left brain and Kanami brain. CAT scan showed that she's using 100% of her brain when composing songs with at least 12 different sections of her brain working independently of each other.

What amazes me about Kanami is she uses change-ups not to shock the audience but to complete the story or picture in her Kanami brain.

Obviously, they are all brilliant.. but one thing that constantly hits me in the face is how unbelievably precise Akane is! It does not matter how fast, how complex or any combination of both and she never, NEVER, goes even slightly off the beat. I mean, you could set your watch by her beat! Actually, their uncanny ability to play highly complex rhythms and syncopation live as a band never ceases to amaze. Just so damn good.

Kanami is so full of music she has to get all these notes into the song. That's why I think she is a musical savant. Her mind is so wrapped up in music and composing hence the airhead claim and her apparent unawareness of situations. It would also explain the distinct change in her demeaner once on stage. Sometimes on stage when Miku is in full flow and Kanami is not gazing at Saiki she seems miles away waiting for the music to start. Kanami doesn't think outside the box - there is no box!

I thought I heard in one of their interviews that Kanami will keep working on a song until Saiki says it's done.
@dexterplant7782 жыл бұрын
It's quite unbelievable, when you remove the vocals you can really break down and hear how the intricacies of each song really is, so much gets buried under Saiki and Miku's vocals, most band's need an orchestra to help out, but not Band Maid, they create the music I always wanted to create, unfortunately I could hear it in my head but never was accomplished enough to create it in the real world, I'm so happy that they are making this music that only they are great enough to make.
@mickyart2 жыл бұрын
And this is how you pay tribute to Kanami with so much juice! Instead of just chopping up solos without the necessary context. Awesome Display Of Power! OK now I'm laughing hard... that dance as Mincho starts the frenzy Giovanni continuous soloing is just hilarious!! Great drawing BTW! Many thumbs up!!
@RafaelToledoM2 жыл бұрын
When you mention how their music work without vocals i think is because they write the music first and then Miku start writing the lyrics. Here is an extract of an interview from this year - When you write a song, do you write music first? Kobato: We always write music first, po. There’s no song where we have written lyrics first, po. Even though we always write music first, I often say “Is it OK to remove one note in this part of the melody?” or “This part of the melody has two notes, but I want to have four notes in English” or something, po. Kanami: Basically everything will be OK for me. When she’s like “I changed the vocal harmony work like this”, I’m like “No problem” (laughs). The translated interview is in reddit "Interview with Miku Kobato and Kanami on the May 2021 issue of Player (2021-04-02): The two guitarists"

Happy birthday to the almighty Mincho. You picked up on one point in part one when you mentioned the various Maid Waltzes written by Kanami of course. At many concerts you will hear a variety of artists while the crew sets up. You will never hear that at a Band-Maid concert. Every single note that comes from the stage is from Band-Maid. Even when they sample they sample themselves. From start to finish every single note and sound was made by our ladies. You also made a reference to producers. Band-Maid's "producer" is Mincho. If, for example, MISA has an idea she will make a demo and give it to Kanami and they go from there. And it has been this way since Alone. This is a "super" group in more ways than one. The talent and potential shows no limits whatsoever. Keep up the good work. Sacramento loves Band-Maid.
@packerjip96652 жыл бұрын
I am a big fan from Kanami and what the band does to create the BM music. I do not believe that the producers, in or outside the studio, have no say so in the making of the music. I don't believe, though, it makes any great changes in what is produced.
@sacluvsBM2 жыл бұрын
@@packerjip9665 That was only partially true before they signed with Pony Canyon. All idol groups as with most bands around the world do not have that ability. Band members only record their specific parts. It is then mixed by the producer who adds tracks and other effects as the producer sees fit. The biggest stars who are able to generate huge revenue usually have, per their specific contract, some ability to determine who they work with. Bands that don't have that clout have little to say about either the mix or the final product. In other words and in one way or the other the band is told what is expected and what the record company expects. And that simply is not the case with Band-Maid. Look at it this way: if the band members of any band do not own the copyright to their name and if a band member can be fired or replaced by anyone other than the band members you are not talking about Band-Maid. Bands of great stature have a say over the art used on the package their music is sold in. Major labels have art departments which do that and a big band might have veto power over the art selected. Again that is not Band-Maid. With Unseen World Saiki is the art dept. and Kanami is the record's producer. They do everything themselves with total control over every single aspect since signing with Pony Canyon which is precisely why they signed with them. While the original definition has changed over the years Band-Maid is an "indie" band. Make no mistake about that. It is easy to assume but as small pigeon wrote "Looking is not seeing."

That running main riff in Giovanni is truly out of this world…. Giovanni instrumental is like the Soundtrack of the Universe and everything within! ...when it became available and got hold of it I listened to it like 7 times a day, but that's true for all their material, cannot get bored of it, continuously revisiting and want more and more each time discovering more. Great job all around Ryan, a wonderful tribute!
