Thanks mate : ) If your scroll saw has groove in the table, it will work. It's amazing how accurate this can be.

Is the table square...?

Ah.... you're way ahead of me : ) Oval is a typical shape for a scroll saw table, though I've no idea why. But my suggestion... A thin but strong overlay table from 1/4 inch plywood. Overhang a little extra at the side and secure beneath the edge some timber strips, maybe 1/2 thick or whatever. This will give you a flat, rectangular table with smooth, square sided edges. Wax this table for easy use. Now build a sled to go on top of this, but rather than grooves, use your new square edges as guides. So your sled is slightly wider than the table and beneath this you add strips that hug the two side edges of the table top. With these smoothed and waxed, as you push or pull the rear edge of the sled, it can only move back or forth. Are you following me? Oh yes... it needs some nice markings to make life easier and they'll come just as soon as my protractor arrives : D

Hi Mark. Yes it could... but I took the view of "what if the slots and table weren't square?" It's a long shot I know, but I've come across unparallel grooves, twisted tables, etc, and preferred to dot the I's and cross the T's : ) Or maybe I was just daft and wasting my time : D

With a cam lock it would be cool to make the nut lock on the backside into indents representing common angles. Since the cam lock would operate in any direction you could have one side of the nut fit into the indents and the other side free to set as you please.

Ha! Amazing! Matt there's nothing wrong with your eyes mate. I hadn't spotted that : D I toyed with clamps and stops and all sorts, but in honesty wanted to keep it simple. I've been listening to feedback and consensus suggests that my site is not doing as well as I'd like because I spend too much time trying to be educational rather than allowing people to enjoy the process, take from it what they want, and ask questions if the need to. So, more entertainment and less facts and figures I suppose : )

Oooooo.... losing focus on a bandsaw means losing fingers mate. But you are right. Of course, the stop that I haven't bothered with could fix that, or rounding the rear corner of the mitre arm. But fingers mate... fingers : )

@@vogman Well fortunately, after 60+ years of life, I still have 1, 2, 3, ... yep, all 10 fingers. 😊 They've been sliced, crushed, burned and abraded a bit, but I've still got them all. 🤗 My biological father on the other hand, lost the tip of his right index finger to carelessness before he was 18 years old. 🤕 So I'm doing a little better than he did. 👷‍♂️

Yes, they were a careless generation with their digits. I have family that would be of a similar age with similar injuries. We knock health and safety a fair old bit, but the relative I'm thinking of lost a finger carrying sheet metal at his workplace... Anyway, thanks for the input as always Ron : )

@@vogman Did you also use wax in the table slots, leave them dry, or use something like graphite? Also, are you still driving that veg oil diesel?

I waxed EVERYTHING... it's so slippy and shiny it's amazing it stays on the table ; ) And yes, but only on long journeys. Short journeys are no good. The engine needs to be nice and warm firm and that doesn't happen for a few mile.

Thanks Adharsh. You're right, but I did mention this in the video my friend. I'm wait for the delivery of a new square and large protractor that I've ordered. When these arrive, I'll be able to mark with some accuracy : ) I'm looking forward to it.
