Batman AMT 1:25th Scale BATWING Finished Model

This video shows my finished build of the AMT 1:25th scale Batwing model kit. I installed LED lighting and did some custom airbrush painting to highlight the panel lines on the wings and fuselage. Also a look at the AMT 1:25th scale '89 Batmobile kit I built a few years ago.

@@mikep1592 I'll give Batman Returns a pass ... but nothing was so awesome as 89. That and the animated series (Mark Hamill is the best Joker, imo). I think it's in Returns where you see Keaton brooding and the Bat Signal goes up and he steps into it. That's beauty right there.

I'll have the kit this week. Pretty excited to build it. I like the design and it has some interesting lighting. The reviews I've seen make it look like a nice kit.

Fantastic work as always Boyd! I would love to see you complete a few of the kits from the later movies as well. I personally like the Batmobile and Batwings from Batman Forever. They have lots of light on them in the movies, I think your skill with smd's would pay-off really well with those kits. I remember I built a few snap-tite kits from those movies back when they first came out. Thanks again for sharing these awesome models!

I have this model, started putting it together ages ago. have it together all except for the canopy on it. I put lights in it too. Even used a dental tool to reverse the panel lines.

Two beautiful kits, well done. The nwer 89 batmobile does come with a resin batmobile, but no background.

Looks good buddy! It is a decent kit. I ended up leaving my missiles poking out in " ready to fire" mode though.. just a personal preference. I think they actually did extend out in one shot of the movie but its been a bit since i watched the Keaton movies. I still want the Justice League Batwing... that thing is awesome!

Good to hear from you Chuck. I still haven't seen Justice League. Will have to check it out. I really didn't care for any of the Batmobiles after the '89 version, thought they got too gaudy. I do like the shots I've seen of the latest one though. It's got kind of a muscle car look that's pretty cool.

I expressly dislike the design of this so-called Bat Plane but you have done extraordinary justice to it. I would have never thought to add the iridescent over coat (I did not see the Bat Mobile vid). Which looks great. One thought: if you get rid of the dome base and have the mount rod go through the "water" part of the display, I think it would look even more evocative of flight. Plus I am happily surprised by the look of the card-stock display.

It's blue iridescent taxidermy paint, lacquer based. It's the same paint most of us use for the Aztec paneling on the Enterprise refit. You can get it here : www.mckenziesp.com/4-Ounce-C3445.aspx

Can't say for sure. I'm working on it. I need new cameras and probably have to upgrade my pc. I don't make anything off of my videos or the show so I'm working within my own budget and I'm definitely not rich. Hopefully soon.

Hey boyd what was the 2 colors u sprayed on the batmobile where they duplicolor paints

You can spay on some semi gloss black craft paint for the base color which will look the same as the automotive paint I used at the time. Then mist over it with the iridescent blue. The blue is a taxidermy paint from Mckensie. You can find it here: www.mckenziesp.com/4-Ounce-C3445.aspx I use this and the 3 other iridescent colors in green, gold and red that they have for the aztec panels on the Enterprise Refit. They sell the paint in either water based or lacquer based. The lacquer based is the one I prefer. It covers easier and looks a little more brilliant than the water based does.

I got into it a few years ago knowing nothing about lighting and taught myself how to do it over the years. That's what inspires me to do these videos and pass along what I learned.

It looks like the red led for the outer machine gun on the right wing isn't lit.

It's lighted. Sometimes fiber optics are hard to see unless your looking straight at it.

There's a website called FiberOpticProduct.com they have a little $10.00 Adjustable LED Blinker Board you can use that for the Gun's Firing effect they have 2 different type of the board with 1 or 2 LED's use the Board with 1 LED and just Adjust the Blinking effect to where you like it i've used that little Board many time's and it work great for any kind of Blinking light Effect you want Boyd .... Ill post a lick on The Model Shop Facebook page ok.
