I review the Bauer 3/8" 20v Lithium Compact Impact Wrench. I charge it up and test it on some lug nuts. Thanks for watching!

I have several of the Bauer 20v tools, and for a DIYer they seem great. I've gotten a lot of them at Harbor Freight parking lot sales as open box, half price (or more) items.

The 1/2” drive is the best for removing lugs. You won’t be disappointed
@payloadperformance97064 жыл бұрын
Mustang Guru yeah I used the 1/2 inch and it works great for a budget impact wrench. Zero complaints from me, if there’s anything it can’t handle I whip out the big dog 1/2 Milwaukee 1400ft pounder and rip that sucker out lmao I love Bauer and Milwaukee for some reason, go figure 😂

So far the Bauer is a good brand, i have the 1/2" drive corded impact, that thing is strong asf. Removes anything I put on it.

I bought this tool and I'm very happy with it, it works really good removing 10 to 15 mmm nuts and bolts, I love how lightweight it is and I'm only using the 1.5 amps battery, I heard that the 3 amp battery is better but for light to medium duty jobs is more than good enough, I have the Bauer 1/2 inch impact electric gun especially for tough jobs but it weighs a ton lol. But God willing I'll get the 1/2 inch impact cordless gun cordless, but for most of my preventative maintenance on my 1998 Toyota Camry.

I have that impact. I work on cars for a living. It is a great little gun for under hood work but not strong enough for lug nuts or suspension work. It will take off lug nuts occasionally but takes way longer than zipping them off with a 1/2 inch impact.

Would the corded 1/2 inch Bauer take off seized suspension bolts? It claims 1050 fl lbs torque

Hey there, you know I just bought the matco brushless 3/8 infinium 16v , and it also struggles on lug nuts, I was using chrome sockets at first and notice that with the impact socket it took bolts off a little faster, try it again but with a short impact socket, also your Porsche has studs running into the hub instead of nuts so it it a little tougher to get off. Nice review I'm want to buy another cordless but to have it in my car and I put my eye on the bauer

i just got the brushless h1/2 inch one and it gets my trucks lug nuts torqued to 150ft lbs easily and quick ive helped people on the side of a road who couldnt take off their lug nuts with a little wrench thats supposed to have a bar on it

Using a chrome socket and it isn't even a 6 point. . . I would try to lose the adapter and get a proper 6 point impact socket and give her another go, it should take them off easier!

Had mine for 2 years still works great for. What i use it for but lets be honest i uga duga some things after the impact. I used it for my lift kit and it did great. Pop out lugs it did great. Im not saying its the best but when you dont work it like a shop does. Its great for a diy. Bought mine with 3 ah battery

I hammered my downpipe onto the turbo exhaust flange studs and gasket. the nuts say 46 lbs of torque so it had a 3 ft extension with a 1/2" adapter so it probably got those nuts on good. Ill have to test it with the same 3 ft extension with 1/2 adapter on a lug nut to see how many ft lbs of torque it delivered to those exhaust flange nuts but they prolly wont be coming loose on their own again.

Some guy did a review on the Hercules 3/8 impact wrench from Harbor Freight. He pulled off a lug nut torque wrenched to 180 foot pounds.
@hevirotation4 жыл бұрын
do you have actual impact sockets that are 3/8"? That would help for sure.
@ruffin20003 жыл бұрын
consistent with a few other posters here. i use the 1/2 impact for lug nuts and other heavy torqued items. smaller things and loosened nuts i may use this
@granadojl4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you didn't take into consideration the power loss through the adapter. If you were to use a direct socket on the impact wrench, the bolts would break loose quicker and smoother.
@mikeshorsepowergarage75774 жыл бұрын
I didn't think of that. Thanks for the tip.

I don't think he LOSES any significant power by using the adapter, but it doesn't magically give it the power of a 1/2" impact. In any event, I use a 1/2 impact for lug nuts (Milwaukee). It removes them easily on setting 2 out of 3. I might have bought the Bauer version but I had not really discovered Harbor Freight at the time. Looking for a good compact 3/8 impact wrench for tight spaces. I think the Bauer is a bit large for tight spots, like behind brake rotors and such. Will probably have to go for a more compact brushless (more expensive) 3/8 impact.

I am confused. I never used an impact wrench but they advertise 325 ft. lbs. of bolt breakaway torque but it took two tries to get a 118 lb bolt loose. Am I missing something?
@wclintf4 жыл бұрын
seems like 1 inflated torque numbers 2 using an adapter robs torque 3 chrome sockets could also rob some torque. that being said, if the fitment was good, and not wobbly socket fitment, i'd be disappointed if my 325 rated wrench struggled on lugs.
@Sr.Fluffioso3 жыл бұрын
The bigger the battery the better the umph 1.5 is for small task. The higher the ah the more itll successfully remive that nut i bought mine with a 3.0 ah battery and it does most of what i put it through
@stauguastine Жыл бұрын
When you use a torque wrench hold the center of the handle and hold it square. Never put your hand on the end of the torque wrench where the socket is, that will throw off the torque on the lug, you are probably putting more than 118 ft lbs by doing that. While the 3/8" drive is rated for 325 ft labs, and it will do that, it is not really beefy enough for lugs, use a 1/2" drive impact, it is more suited for that demand rather than a 3/8. I have both and am happy with both. The 3/8 is a beast for what it is and the price point.

I got the Ryobi 1/2 impact with charger and 4ah battery for $99. It works great. The Bauer is a nice unit, you are doing it a great disservice by using the adapter, it's killing the torque. My issue with the Bowers is the price.

Dude... why Chrome sockets? Also impact sockets help with the hammering effect on impact guns. The thicker that are, thr faster it'll get a bolt or lugnut off
@jamyers1212 жыл бұрын
A Good test would be to do more than "one" lug nut. A REAL test would be to take ALL of the lugs off, to see how easily all five comes off. That way we can see what it could do with one wheel at least.
