MeatCranium BBQ AND REVIEW you did a great job on this batch of reviews. I’ve seen HMB using that stone in his setup, looks intriguing! 🤔 I think the Dragon is very cool, but I kinda appreciate the time it takes for charcoal to light, that’s when I’m usually getting other things prepped for the cook. It would be cool to have the option though. The Insanity setup is most definitely insane lol! 👍🔥🔥

I have the BBQ Dragon fan...When I first started seeing it in stores, it was $50 up here in Canada! Then I saw it go on clearance for $10, and I picked one up. Even just using it on a normal Weber chimney, it really cuts down on the time to get the coals going. I love the idea of the stone, gonna have to look into getting that! Thanks for the video Meathead! Or, I guess, MeatCranium now! 👍✌

Hey Chris. Love the Dragon side shelf and the insta-read digital thermometer. I don't really have a use for the charcoal starter since I'm not in a big hurry and also living in a very wooded area I wouldn't want to start any forest fires with all those hot sparks flying around, lol. Great review. When I first started out using a kettle (earlier this year, new to this awesome world of BBQ), I was caught up in the slow n sear advertising. I like it, but as you mentioned I lose half of my cooking space. In your experience, how do you feel the temperature management compares between the two? I bought the stone recently and haven't been able to use it yet, but if one were to have skill in welding, they could in theory weld a water trough with handles of some sort to fit in the opening in the stone, thus allowing for complete use of the grilling space.
@meatcranium4280
@meatcranium4280 5 жыл бұрын
Mark Halvorson no welding needed. Fill vegetable can with water, they are disposable and we all use a lot of them. Watch my last 2 videos. I put 4 Pork butts on a 22 inch Weber Kettle with success. SNS ONLY 2. In that video though the BBQ GRILL STONE did snap in 2. It was 46 degrees outside and I put it over hot coals. I reached out to BBQ DRAGON and the only thing they could come up with is that moisture got to it to quickly. I am about to test it out now. I am about to make a Video where I put it in the freezer then put it over Hot Coals, and try in break it. Stay tuned and thanks for watching and commenting Brother

I wanted to order the grill stone, but it doesn’t have good reviews on Amazon. Now that it’s been awhile since you made this video, do you still recommend it? The complaints on Amazon say it breaks after only a couple of uses and the company is non-responsive when people try to reach them.

Hey bro, I actually have a bbq dragon. I got it for doing an sca comp where I didn’t have electricity to use my wife’s hair dryer to get my slow n sear blazing hot, and it did a good job, the safety grate fell out a few times but I just put it back in. The stone is neat and I’ve seen Tom horseman do a lot of mods to it to make it work with other accessories including the sns had some cool results. As far as the spin grate goes I agree that is a non starter if it’s only point is to move stuff away from the heat that’s why we have tongs or hands am I right. Have a good one bro.

When you’re cooking on low and slow on your kettle does the barbecue dragon create a small leak because it’s actually lifting up the lid on one side or does it seal well enough? I know the Weber accessory hooks that hook on the side of the kettle create a leak there OK to have hanging there for a hot and fast cook but not low and slow. They just let too much air into the kettle so you have to control everything by closing your vents. Which creates less airflow out through the lid vent. I would like to see a couple chunks of wood and charcoal smoking with a lid that shot and see how much smoke shoots out on each side of the shelf before I purchase one. Even just to have the shelf around for hot and fast cooks would be great. I have the chimney and the fan killer products they’re a little small compared to the Weber chimney. Wishing it was the same size as the weber chimney. I need to fill the weber chimney and the chimney of insanity and see how many briquettes each will hold. Just to know the exact difference. I feel I’m lacking in heat a little bit when I use the chimney of insanity because of the capacity it short. Maybe it’s all in my head?? lol Great review though!!

What's up bro! Tuned in. I love reviews on products! I just gotta ask lol. Why are these any more necessary than say for instance the Slow n Sear? Again I'm here to watch either way I just feel like we went from you dont need anything but salt meat and fire to, snag these accessories they are a must. I agree these are all awesome additions but it's just like the slow n sear... meaning it still comes to personal preference. Again either way I'm here and i enjoyed the video. Just wanted to know your thoughts on it? Cheers brotha I enjoy all the reviews you are doing keep it up.

Whats New BBQ The side shelf is marketed as a side shelf to put things on, not a product that will make your food taste better. This is priced correctly and not marketed as being some magical device. The temp probe is priced correctly compared to Other ones for $80. Watch the whole video. It’s not rainbows and cotton candy. I’m not blinded like SNS fans are.

One thing I like about bbq dragon products is price point. I have that stone and paid $50 which is great. I’d have a sns if it were in that price range. One complaint I had with the stone is it didn’t come with any instructions on how to use it. You can say it’s self explanatory but some directions would be nice. Great video Chris! I do have a suggestion, though......why not use the 18.5 inch WSM charcoal ring as the charcoal holder instead of the 2 charcoal baskets? First, it holds more charcoal than both of the charcoal baskets you had in this video....I recently ordered the 18.5 charcoal ring from grillparts.com they selling it at $32 & change..... the diameter is 14.5 inch and the height is 4.75 inch just a perfect accessory for the 22.5 kettle. You can put the stone on top of it, with room to spare.......( oh boy....Dave from ABC will surely hate me for this..... this will surely will be the end of the overpriced SNS)

I realize this review is from 2018 but I wanted to leave a comment about the chimney of insanity and the fan/blower that goes with it. I LOVE my chimney it works great BUT the fan/blower has a serious flaw. The speed control will fail and you won't be able to even turn the fan on. I'm on my second fan/blower and the switch is starting to fail on it also. When you turn the fan on it won't come on at first eventually it will come on but turns very slow. As you turn the dial to increase the speed the fan speeds up then down,up then down and will not run at a set speed. I'm not an electrical engineer but I think there is a short in the switch that is causing the fan to speed up and down. I'm not going to contact BBQ Dragon about this issue I'm pretty much done with this particular product. They did replace my original fan/blower with a new one but like I said the second fan/blower is starting to do the same thing! So as far as I'm concerned the BBQ Dragon fan/blower is a FAIL!

Chris Nice review. I appreciate you giving your honest opinion on readily-available products/gadgets for the outdoor cooking enthusiast. What maybe should be said ONCE, after the SNS series, is that your opinions are just that - opinions, and that many of the items you review may be provided to you free for that purpose. You are providing honest reviews to the viewers for their entertainment and informational puposes ONLY. There is no demand that viewers buy any positively-reviewed product; nor is there any implied penalty for not buying it (or for buying negatively-reviewed products). THERE ARE WORK-AROUND SOLUTIONS FOR ALMOST ANY PROBLEMS YOU FACE WITH BBQ, or anything else humans have power over. The most important tool for solving any problem is that wrinkly, fatty organ between your ears.
