If you feel your partner can't handle the truth then you believe they are weak and insecure. The relationship between was already doomed between Amy and George prior to Amy's transgression. It may hurt but I'd rather know then continue not knowing I've been disrespected.

I think not telling your partner is infinitely more damaging than just confessing.. because there's always a chance of your secret being outed and that deception along with the betrayal could damage a person's sense of self and trust beyond repair. Like even if it was a tricky situation and it was an accident or some other explanation for the cheating knowing that the person concealed it would only make me always doubt the sincerity I maybe could've believed.

Also, if u cheated on ur partner, you’re not a worthy partner. YOUR PARTNER DESERVES TO HAVE A CHANCE W/ BEING IN LOVE W/A RESPECTFUL, FAITHFUL PERSON. Yes, ur partner will probably be very hurting atm (esp if u have children together,) but if u fucked up, ur partner deserves to know what kind of temperament u have (susceptible to cheating *no matter the circumstance*) and also, they deserve to be with a more worthy person. If they decide to forgive u even after u tell the truth, that’s good for u.

Withholding information from your partner "for their own good" just sounds like an excuse to avoid facing consequences for your actions.
@timmlyy

My guy, it’s not that they don’t want to know; it’s that you cheated in the first place that’s making them feel like shit. Cheating is not just “bad”; it’s a relationship breaker. Even if you lie and they never ‘find out’, your relationship is just one built on lies. It ain’t real, and the only way you are keeping it going for sure is by lying and being deceitful to the one you love the most. If you tell them and they forgive you, that’s the only way that can keep your relationship real and loving. After that, you gotta work your ass off to maintain that relationship. If your goal is to keep the relationship going no matter what, no matter how fake and unreal the relationship is, then yeah, hiding it and hoping they never find out is an option.

I'd rather be told because there's nothing worse than being gaslit. I'm guessing it's rare that someone is being cheated on and has no idea there's something going on where an admission would just be a complete shock. You know even when you don't have proof. The truth is better than thinking you're crazy.

man... I wasn't expecting to learn so much about Jaby and his interpersonal opinions on things - brother, you gotta keep moving on that stuff because holy hell... who hurt you my dude? Obviously a lot of stuff there that you're working through and I hope the best for you, but be open to things that you might not have experienced, like unconditional love and total honesty... these things exist and are healthy - not everyone is trying to take advantage lol

I’m late to watching this reaction, but (no disrespect to Jabys perspective) I feel like he’s siding with George and forgetting about the fact that George had a fully emotional connection with another woman and also regularly stifles Amy’s emotions. Physical cheating is bad but so is emotional cheating and to some people it hurts more. I’m not speaking from experience or anything but I personally don’t think it’s fair to be mad at Amy and not be equally mad at George.

All respect was lost for Danny once I saw him throw Paul’s college applications away. How selfish can you be? Paul always seemed like a really unhappy character and when I saw that it was just like damn, Danny really threw a lot of opportunities away for him. As far as the cheating thing, everyone is simply different and it’s a conversation worth having. I’ve told my friends to tell me & I’ll tell my significant other to just be honest with me cause the idea of others out here knowing what you’re doing behind my back except for me? And god knows if you’re protecting yourself so you’re also risking my health…no, I need to know so I can make my own decision, you keeping it to yourself is taking that away from me and making a decision for the both of us as well as it’s a heads up when you may start to get contacted by the person they cheated with which was a situation I had to deal with, a woman trying to trick me to come out of the house so she can jump me….it’s just a fucked up thing.

Regarding the concept of "the truth will set you free," both Jaby and Achara expressed similar sentiments, albeit from slightly different perspectives. Jaby suggested that disclosing the truth could be considered a selfish act, implying that the individual sharing the truth primarily benefits themselves. On the other hand, Achara emphasized that the person who experiences guilt and is tormented by it can find liberation by confessing the truth. According to her, this act of disclosure allows the individual to free themselves from the weight of their burden, regardless of the potential consequences it may have on others. In this context, Achara's perspective can also be seen as self-centered or focused on personal relief.

Jaby, it’s always best to tell the truth. While, yes, part of that is to try and rid your own guilt, whether the other person is ruined or not by learning the truth, you really do owe them that. They’ll get over it eventually. People make mistakes and there should be a point where the suffering/consequences should end as a result of that mistake, and replaced with forgiveness (on both parties). Regardless, Karma is a bitch.

I am experiencing the consequences of telling lies and having the truth come out at the worst time. At some point, the truth will out, and you have to deal with it. Sadly, when I didn't tell the truth, I eventually had to lie to myself to convince myself I was a good person. But I also found I had to blame innocent beings along the way. It may be my burden to bear the guilt, but I just didn't find my covering up my lies to have the great benefit you'd think would come of it.

Correct me if I’m wrong but Jaby implied that he “did some things”, which I understood as cheating, and it seems to me that he thinks, him coming clean to the person, made him “go through some 💩”. Confess, let the person decide if they want to stay or not. Not you cheating and still complaining why you have to go through 💩. You’re the one who made the 💩 we’re rolling around in. If you don’t like it. Fight with your reflection in the mirror. Because it’s you. Hi! You’re the problem, it’s you!

Amy knew, deep down, that her and George were over. That's why she told George the truth in the kitchen. She knew that would end everything, which is really what she wanted. She wants June, but she doesn't want to stay married. Also, I would MUCH rather know the truth if I was George. I mean, did Paul wear a condom?! Even if he did, I want to know so I can get myself checked out. Amy put George's health at risk.

Maybe, your partner would no longer want to be with you if you betrayed them in that way. Or maybe, they could actually believe you and demonstrate a deeper commitment to understand you. Taking away that choice from them is morally foul and more selfish. -- That is assuming your both adults who deserve mutual respect. Hiding things from your child makes sense. Forcing your perspective on another adult, does not.

Taking it to the grave comes at a cost, yes it is selfish to tell the truth. It's not anybody else's job to deal with your guilt but feeling guilty and living with fear of being found out is not sustainable. Even if you are not afraid of being found out, big secrets will create distance between you and your partner, they might trust you but you will not, you will never trust them because you never trusted them with your truth. If the relationship is going to end then yes maybe don't tell them, spare them the suffering but if you are going to be together then you are setting yourself up for a toxic codependent relationship. That's really dumb. It's not pragmatic to take it to the grave.

Also, his analogy with the phones? Every adult buying an iphone, in general, knows who makes them and how their social and financial standing/situation in life compares to iphone consumers. The buyer decides to buy them regardless of knowing the fact. You not wanting to be told while you’re using the phone is the equivalent of, Someone confessing to cheating, being forgiven, and still continues to cheat and this cycle continues. But in this situation, the person being cheated on knows and is deciding to stay with the cheater. Just, you know, don’t remind them every so often. What Jaby wants is, for the cheater’s actions to not have consequences because it’s too taxing to go through the whole process of reconciliation. Jaby then says he fought to stay with the person he was with because he eventually changed anyway, like we should pat him on the back for doing what he should have been doing already. Uhmm, you were fighting a fight that you caused/incited/initiated/created? Are we suppose to congratulate you?

If you believe in karma then withholding truth ultimately hurts you more. The truth is never about how it will make you feel, it's just honest facts. I don't want to be lied to ever, not for "feelings" sake. I'm an adult I'll deal with the pain. At the very least if you give me the truth I can still respect you. I don't respect the "I was trying to protect your feelings" bs.

The motivation behind telling the truth matters. Wanting to give the other person the respect they deserve by telling the truth, that is a good thing to do. Telling the truth to stop feeling guilty is not honesty, it is just selfishness that also happens to be true. If karma is a thing, then that motivation matters. One is a good thing to do, while the other just piles on more hurt. You already betrayed them and now you are going to hurt them with that to make yourself feel better. That is not an ethical thing to do. While I would want to know the truth, I am not going to pretend that they are automatically being moral by telling the truth. Why they are telling it is what matters with regards to how I seem them as a person.

I don't get you saying this might be sexist but she shouldn't have told the truth. What does being sexist have to do with her telling the truth or not? Also If the mother was covering for her saying oh nothing happened, she should be applauded for saying straight up what happened instead of going along with the lie. He was being honest with her and talked about his experience with another woman so why shouldn't she? If she felt guilty, then I appreciate her being honest and if she did just go along with the lie, y'all would call her out for not being honest.

I love how Danny tried to roast Amy and say she should stay away from her family - if only he had given himself that advice long ago! Danny is worse than Amy, they both need serious help, but Danny is worse! I also stick by this statement Amy may have incited the road rage event but Danny started the Beef! Don't cheat but if you do, just tell the truth, living a lie will start to burden everyone around you.

Lol Amy cheats.. Jaby: “How is she not like Hitler”!!😂 About telling the truth, just because we don’t want to hear the truth doesn’t mean we shouldn’t. In Amy’s case, I understand if someone wouldn’t want to tell the truth in fear of losing their child like she did but ultimately theres a problem in the relationship that needs to be addressed and fixed. Both George and Amy weren’t satisfied in their marriage, which is why they were seeking what they needed from other people. Telling George the truth is what Amy needed to continue a healthy and honest relationship with George like she wanted. The hardest part will be if George will able to forgive her and move forward with their marriage, something most people aren’t able to do (understandably so)🩵🩵

Nothing is black and white. There's a gray area to coming clean about cheating on your partner. If you make a simple mistake with a random person and it was private, then take it to the grave. If you cheated and instantly regretted it but love your partner, sure take it to the grave, but you're not a selfless person. If it was a full-on affair I think it's cowardly and selfish to keep it to yourself. You tell yourself it's for the family, but it's really for you to stay within the family and keep the dynamic. The show demonstrates what kind of toxic household you will create by keeping it in. Not only that Paul is a loose cannon and it would come up again anyways. George was VERY aware she prob was cheating and he cheated too anyway (mentally). Most cheaters DO NOT stop once it's swept under the rug, they'll usually repeat it. Amy and her husband were not actually happy they were ignoring their core faults ESPECIALLY Amy. Telling the truth is the best thing for everyone in that kind of situation. The comparison you made about the iPhone proves selfishness. It's best not to know who makes our phones because it would make us feel bad??? Sure, but that's a selfish reason to hide the truth and raise attention to what people go through to make it. It makes people stronger than the avg person not using Technology as often or at least adding more value to what they have. Not knowing where our phones come from would make a lot more people very ungrateful. The strongest person should never use phones again. Humans are selfish and cheating and not telling someone is almost always to save your own feeling pretending it's about "the family". What child needs to grow up seeing their parents unhappy and clearly cheating (as the show shows you). Amy's character shows us that she chose to break that cycle. Yes, her child has a different type of rough upbringing, but George and herself already screwed things up from the beginning. Amy seems to be aware and that's why she told the truth. She had been lying about her life and who she was for far too long and she was ready to take on the consequences. Guilt for cheating, but being seen as a "good wife" is not a real consequence.
@southeastasiandude

To me, if you or I or anyone ever cheats, I think you should tell and/or just break it off because it might hurt them too much. I wouldn't want to cheat and keep it a secret from them as whenever I am having the most beautiful time with her or with the kids I'd have the most insane amount of guilt and feeling like I can't ever redeem myself, no matter how much you try or do. If you cheat, you betrayed their trust, how can you think that it's okay to expect them to forgive you or try to continue the relationship when you broke it. If they say they want to forgive and want to continue, that is totally up to you. But you'll still feel that guilt feeling like you'll make it up by being more perfect. Also , the longer you keep it a secret from them, the worse it is. Why is everyone thinking it's okay bringing it to your grave. You're gonna be with this person for the rest of your life and you're gonna keep it to yourself? Jaby said it's selfish telling it's also worse not telling and still being with them

AS for "telling the truth" is depends on why you are telling the truth. Are you doing because it is the right thing to do and you feel remorseful or are you telling the truth just to transfer guilt? I have seen it both ways. People who cheat and then admit it and are genuinely sorry. But others who cheat and then tell the other person and immediately feel "cleansed of guilt" and then get annoyed that the other person gets angry at them,

Why does Jaby have such a simplistic view of fiction? He sounds like an old man or a naive teen when he's whining about "not having anyone to root for." WTF bro, this isn't a Marvel movie. The whole show is about consequences, both known and unknown, of causes, both intended and unintended, and if/how we can ever transcend them. The show is special because it DOES NOT let either of the protagonists escape with reckonings. So, chill and watch the next episodes. This isn't Family Ties. I think Paul believed he basically got rejected from every college he applied to. He was young but he should have definitely followed up, because he high-key intelligent and would have been successful!

@@k1988smithWhy do we all assume that he didn't reapply? And the brother didn't continuously throw away the letters? Also at a certain point he got into crypto so maybe, if he didn't reapply, it's because he found "success" outside of college and didn't realize how temporary that would be

@@Cedricfilms The show is written very well and I think it would have been mentioned if he applied to college multiple times. If Danny was continuously discarding his letters that would make the character irredeemable, in my opinion. Lastly, I don't think Paul ever achieved any financial success because he seems like the type to brag about it a little, at least to Danny.

I think telling the truth is always the right choice because youre are giving the other person the ability to choose what to do forward with that information and by not telling them is taking that choice away and choosing for them.

Im new to the channel, can someone plz explain to me why he hates Amy so much? Everyone on this show is despicable and have done terrible things (imo Dany throwing out Paul's college applications was fhe worst), but she seems to get dumped on the most about how "bad" she is?

Could be because Jaby has been cheated on by his ex-girlfriend. He has shared that story with his audience. So maybe he is sensitive in that regard and has a general bias against women cheating. This is just my guess as I noticed the same pattern in his reactions.

If your partner is physically intimate with someone else without you knowing, that's putting your health at risk. If your partner contracted a disease from another person and they unknowingly pass it to you without you knowing, that's dangerous. Feelings and broken trust aside, I would rather my partner tell me as soon as possible so I will know to test for any STDs soon after. Maybe you don't need to tell me about some emotional affair you've been having, but when it comes to anything physical (especially if it's intercourse), be honest with me full stop. George and Amy seem to not really think about how their actions could affect their daughter. There are some parents that would have kids because they think it would be the solution to clearing up their internalized issues, and that usually doesn't work. George should assess the situation and see how well Amy is as a parent and discuss with Amy what would be best for their daughter, instead of him just seeing her as a lying wife who cheated on him and reacting in a vindictive way (not saying George isn't valid in how he feels and I'm not saying Amy is a totally great parent, but she at least tries to do a solid job in taking care of her daughter). When it comes to George and Amy, sometimes you're not right for someone romantically but are good parents to the kid you share.

I have been waiting for you to get to episode 9, and I can’t believe you’re almost there!!! A long time ago a friend of mine explained the same reasoning to me as Jaby on the whole confessing thing, and I tend to agree with it. If you plan on staying with the person, bear the guilt yourself. Telling them only burdens them with it and doesn’t help the situation.

In my opinion Danny screwed up way more than Amy. It's interesting how Jaby feels like she's the worst (character). Neither is good, but he's way more of a mess.

I believe he seems to have an issue with infidelity. You could tell from that episode when Amy slept with Paul. It seems no matter what Danny does, Amy is the worst to him.

And? That's how he feels lol. You can't try to tell people how to feel about a fictional character. Also you contradicted yourself. You said that they're both bad and then turn around and say that Danny is "way more of a mess". Implying that he's worse 🤔

Choosing not to tell someone when you have broken their trust is a no go, i cant believe thats actually your mentality. Sorry to sound rude but… no. Absolutely not. If youve broken my trust, tell me, if not, just leave. Either way ur a coward so 🤷

How can keeping a secret do any good? Eventually, it will consume you and ruin your life with guilt. Is it worth it to keep a lie to hold a family together? Dude, you're too toxic. You have an Asian mentality. Give me one reason why a future wife or girlfriend should trust you

I understand Achara but I agree with Jaby. Sometimes you have to deal with the pain of your choices and use it to better yourself while not spreading the misery. I was a person who didn't need to know (still am) and 22 years later I still wish I didn't. She got to take a truth dump on my face, move on, be happy and I was left infected with HER pain. Telling the truth is something you have to play by ear, you have to gauge the situation and know the other person well enough to make the best choice.

Yeah honesty is always the best policy is a farce. Some shit you just have to keep to yourself. Would you want to know that your partners ex is better in bed than you? do you think that if you told a new partner that you cheated in your last relationship that they wouldn't hold it against you or that it wouldn't sew seeds of doubt in your current relationship?
