Test shows different rpms have different reactions. If only, there was another ''prime mover'' also in a gravitational manner, interacting to guide it into an ''elliptical orbit.'' According to Wikipedia, Bessler's 1713 Draschwitz wheel (9'x6'') lifted 40lbs at 50 rpms. and the Merseburg/Weissenstein Castle wheel (12'x14'') was 26 rpms.

the compression algorithm having a field day with this one.. so trippy to see the wheel move but parts of it stand still due to compression artifacts.

yes, that's weird, some of the other ones have missing frames too. Thanks for pointing that out, i thot it was just me! Is there a good way to fix that?

@@lindaellison899 it is a result from compressing the video into a smaller format. i am not sure if it is happening in your filming device or if it happens when youtube compresses the video. if the former is the case, see if there are settings in the filming device, maybe there is an option to record at a higher quality. if it is the latter, then all you can do is upload the highest quality video you have. then the viewers can choose to watch it at that quality. another option, one i think will make your projects look cool and scientific, is to paint the wheel with a contrasting pattern. this will also allow you to accurately measure the rotation speed.

thanks, Vrilya! Yes, in theory the other ''prime mover'' needs to be mounted in such a way as to use its swing/fall to ''guide'' the springy weight into a perfect elliptical orbit.

Tests are intended to help anyone find the ''secret'' swing/fall motions of weighted levers, of Johann Bessler's self-turning wheel of 1712 in Germany. Thanks.

@@_John_Sean_Walker There were some accusations by a Waggoner and some others against Bessler. Records show after Gera, Merseburg, and Weisenstein wheel demonstrations he ended up with over 30 witnessed signatures from high-ranking officials, also stating no fraud could be found. www.besslerwheel.com/examinations.html

@@lindaellison899 Yes, the weight moves the disk. When the weight is at the bottom, the disk stops. Quote: The inventor first put in motion his six ells (~11 feet) in diameter and one foot thick machine which was still resting on the same wooden support upon which it had previously been mounted. It was stopped and restarted, turned left and right as many times as was requested by the commissaries or the spectators. The machine was started by a very light push with just two fingers and accelerated as one of the weights, hidden inside, began to fall. Gradually, within about one revolution, the machine acquired a powerful and even rotation, which continued until it was forcefully brought to a stop again; the machine preserved the same rapid motion when lifting a box filled with six whole bricks weighing together about 70 pounds. The weight was lifted by means of a rope conducted through a window by means of a pulley. The box was lifted as many times as was requested....

@@lindaellison899 The pendulum clock was invented on 25 December 1656 by Dutch scientist and inventor Christiaan Huygens, and patented the following year. He described it in his manuscript Horologium published in 1658. Huygens contracted the construction of his clock designs to clockmaker Salomon Coster, who actually built the clock.
