This morning IHOPKC publicly announced that Mike Bickle has been permanently separated from IHOPKC. Also, Stuart Reaves has resigned as executive director, and is also stepping down from the board of directors of IHOPKC.

You’re right.. there has been no confession, just a vague admission after being exposed. And yes we should always afford mercy and grace to the abusers, but that can look like something different than what we tend to think. Protection from further pain, wounds, and trauma against the victims should be first priority always. The church has forgotten that mercy and grace isn’t hugging the predator and weeping and getting him fully fellowshipped, all while the victim watches in the dark. In addition, this is such a sharp case of spiritual abuse, that maybe we will start realizing that spouses of these types have been victims of the same spiritual and covenant abuse. It happens so much that the church has forgotten how serious God sees this sin. If the church doesn’t open its eyes, God will open them for it. Happening.

Another great discussion, thanks guys!! I think it's so important to acknowledge why people who were at ihop for a season of time deeply care about this. Many of us did give up some or all of our 20's for prayer and worship in KC. I don't have any regrets spending time in the prayer room, studying the bible and encountering Jesus in the Word. However, the Jesus I encounter in the Word really cares about people above institutions, Jesus cares about leaders taking care of people, not being like the Gentiles and just wanting power for themselves. Watching people you trust betray your trust is painful. People lying is painful, and lying is wrong. So there are many of us that are having to navigate through our own stories with a different lens. Times we left meetings feelings a bit off but constantly told that it's probably because of your own sin or pride or whatever instead of actually, that was your gut/discernment telling you something. Being from another country I now realise things I thought were strange or off I put down to cultural differences (especially since I was not familiar with fundamental, conservative Christianity before being at IHOP). I'm thankful that there are men connected to the ministry in some way started to support victims and Jane Doe, it does matter a great deal. Unfortunately, many times, women still need men to "endorse" their witness, I am thankful that this is happening, and can understand, given the gravity of the situation why some people have taken their time. There are other people that are taking way too long. The night will always belong to the Lord.

Eric Volz adds to the feeling that IHOPKC is doing their best to cover up and impede a true third party investigation. I trust the leadership team even less since Volz stepped in publicly and started speaking for them. Volz described people making accusations online against IHOP and Mike Bickle as “going crickets” when not offering evidence when asked. Good point about humility over believing something wrong and which do we love more, Jesus or a prayer movement. I think that's where this is all headed. Spiritual adultery, being seduced by false doctrines and finding out the seducer is the devil. I wasn't damaged by human beings at IHOP and and am grieved for those who were. God will avenge. But I was very damaged by doctrines from IHOP that seeped into my church. I've spent the last two years studying the roots of many doctrines, not just IHOP and not just charismatic, to find out how and where I went wrong. I believe God is teaching all of us about wolves. It is extremely sad and very humbling. I appreciate your videos. And you nailed it with the feeling that you've lost a huge chunk of your relationship and history with God. You guys are not causing division in the Body of Christ… these type of accusations are often used among those who have been brainwashed under Shepherdship type of abusive leadership and teachings. It’s a form of manipulation and control to badger their opponents with guilt and shame and condemnation in order to silence them. In Shepherdship, controlling type of churches and leadership they always protect those at the top. I have listened to teachings from IHOP for 12 years now. I am undone witnessing the teachings of the mindset of meekness and humility…the pursuit of justice and mercy…the beauty of holiness just be ravaged by the leadership. "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" is a counterfeit holiness. God sees and hears everything. Everything, yet He is Holy. This argument about not looking and not looking back is not Biblical. Paul says not to look back to the things behind meaning not to rest on your laurels so to speak. He was saying to press on to the high calling speaking about running our race. He was not discussing dealing with emotional trauma or wrongdoing. He wrote letters saying to deal with wrong doers. They had to "look back" to do that. Also, Jesus Himself came to me and i struggled with Him as He led by His Spirit to face and deal with traumas from my childhood. God was saying to deal with it! I first became aware of Chris Reed two years ago. I was following Eric Metaxas at the time. And he posted some footage from an event held at IHOPKC with Francis Chan, Ken Fish and Eric Metaxas as part of the panel of speakers. In fact, I stopped following Eric around that time because he seemed so full of himself on stage and he seemed to be trying to debate with Francis Chan. Eric later had Francis Chan on his own show and picked on him again. Anyway, I don’t think I’d ever seen Mike Bickle speak in all the years I’ve been aware of IHOPKC, until I saw clips from that event. Except for the audio tapes I’d been given from the late 90’s and a teaching Mike gave on the Song of Songs, I didn’t follow Mike’s teaching. There was something so off-putting about Mike to me when I saw him at that event two years ago. And he seemed to really like Eric Metaxas and enjoyed the sparks between Eric and Francis Chan. Anyway, Chris Reed was there to give prophetic words for the panel and the attendees. He seemed to be genuine and authentic. Shortly after the event, he joined Rick Joiner’s Morningstar ministry. I’ve tried to listen to Rick Joiner through the years and I can never get through anything he has to say. I’ve also tried to listen to Chris Reed since he’s joined Morningstar, and I just can’t get through any of his messages. I’ve gotten the impression he has the gift of ‘seeing’ and reading people’s mail, but may lack the gift of discernment. He seems like a very trusting child-like person. So, maybe he just didn’t ’get it’ that day when he was with Mike Bickle, Stuart Greaves and Eric Volz. He trusted them. But it looks like he may have come to realize he was duped. He may now be genuinely sorry. But somebody really needs to tell him to get rid of the dyed-black ‘pointy hair and beard’ vibe. It’s comical and creepily sinister. In my opinion. 🫤

I have been a believer since a very early age, literally being raised up in my Christian walk by the Jesus Movement. And for 70 years, all during this time, I keep going through this disillusionment of which you speak. I keep seeing the scandals, the sexual misadventures, the false prophesies and false prophets....., and it keeps happening in the so called "Charismatic Movement." The Catholic Church scandals have nothing on the Charismatics! This is so utterly embarrassing to those of us who honestly try to live an authentic life before the watching world. If the "prophetic ministry" is so real today, where is it? I don't see charismatics calling for holy living, and I don't see them calling out sin like Isaiah, Jeremiah, or even John the Baptist. I see the money grubbing, the fake prophesies, the demonic crazed worship services, and all the rest. And they don't seem to care, at all. It was because of the respect that I had for Gavin Ortlund that I even considered listening to Sam Storms last year. I almost started to reconsider my cessationist views. Then on Justin Peter's 4 hour Roundtable Sam gushed about Mike. He said that Mike Bickle was the real thing, he would "give his life for him." He said, "My aspiration in life is to be 1/10th as godly as Mike Bickle." He is one of the most humble, self-effacing, Bible-centered, Gospel-oriented men I've ever known." "He is one of the most Jesus-centric people that I know." Where was Sam Storm's prophetic ministry when he really, really needed it? If prophesy is for today, where is it being used anywhere as in the Old Testament? I'm sorry, but he may never recover from his recommendations of Mike Bickle. If Sam Storms has the gift of prophesy, then part of this is on him. I will just settle for a little discernment, and I'll take that unwrapped.

The darkness must be exposed and not covered when there is no repentance. It's called the TRUTH. Something is very wrong when people are encouraged to consume one person's teachings! God has given us His Spirit and we can all be taught by Him, and must be, to have our lamps full of the illumination of truth in dark times. Faith will grab the word and say, teach me Lord, and He will! We also need to learn to discern people and teachings, and when we get that inner nudge that something is off, then it's off. Questions aren't bad but it's when you try to fill in the blank with imaginations and assumptions with things you can't prove. That's what I think causes division.

Lesson for the church: Take it easy on prophecy, signs and wonders AND focus on the TRUTH the Bible teaches ! The prophets have a lying spirit! The Jews look to Jesus for a sign: the Lord wasn't pleased! The spirit of TRUTH will in duel the children of God !

Leaders need to value looking like Christ instead of becoming popular on gifting. Being a prophet or international leader does NOT make you better than a praying grandma who has no platform or recognition. Id go as far as to say "damn your gift" because if i don't see Christ in you, your gift means nothing and only provides you with a false sense of self importance.
