Near the end, you mention that you can't get weather without the GDL. I don't have a GDL and I get weather through wi fi when it's available. I always pop the unit out and bring it home, or it can be used at an FBO, restaurant or cafe, or in the hangar or wherever for flight planning before you leave. I've also thought about using my phone to set up a wi fi hot spot while flying, although I haven't tried it yet.

I just bought one and it’ll be here Saturday they say. I have the 660. I love it but I’m wondering now if with the GDL 50 can you get everything it has with your iPad or phone? Seems the 660 may not be needed either. Just curious your thoughts. I started to get ForeFlight and a Sentry because of cost savings but I’m told the True Track auto pilot will work with the 660. I hope to get that installed in the next 6 months. If it works I’ll have everything I need unless I want more for IFR but I’m not there yet. Thx for your video. Let me know your thoughts if you get a chance. Thx

Nope, seems to be working very well. Still flying with it and haven't had any "disconnects". Really enjoy it - so good so far :)

Does the GDL50 provide ground speed and altitude information when used with Garmin Pilot and an iPad?
