In this video Lonny performs the installation of a Crown Vic front end into our 1969 F100 display chassis. This also serves as a guideline to installation our Gateway Performance Suspension Crown Vic install kit, which is available for 1957-1964 models and 1965-1979 models. i've watched this video a number of times. you guys have a great product.i am gonna get the install kit that you sell. it seems to be of really high quality. but, i have one question. what tells you for sure that the center of the shock tower holes is the actual center line of the front wheel? part of the reason i ask is that the center of the shock mount on the CV front end doesn't seem to be the wheel center line.

If they don't have a kit it's really easy to source the tubes that go through the top of the frame from the donor car they are basically tack welded on the top only then just get your centerline mark everything and you can use a step bit to drill the top holes slide the tubes through the frame and weld them use some flat plate to box the frame and then figure the rear trailing arm mounts out and you never made a big cut in the main frame rails

Chuck this is possible, and has been done numerous times, but there are many downsides to doing that as opposed to using a front end setup like this. The amount of time and labor increases exponentially and you have to lose a good portion of your bed due to the interference with the Crown Vic frame.

I believe they are all the same, 2003 - 2011. They are found in Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Marquis, Lincoln Town Car, and Mercury Marauder. There are a few years that had the aluminum trailing arms. I'm not sure which years they are or which vehicles. Mine is a 2008 CV and has steel trailing arms. If I had known at the time there were some with aluminum, I would have gone that way. They all have the same dimensions and are interchangeable.

@@RalphSampson... 2003-2006 is aluminum. 2007-2011 is steel. 03 and 04 are easiest to remove, 05 and 06 use more torque on the bolts. Steel control arms are just hardest to remove for some reason but all CV clips come out with relative ease

What is wrong with the stock front suspension? The twin I Beam is about the best riding suspension there is for a truck, tough as nails but smooth. Particularly good with the longer I beams on the early trucks. You could completely rebuild the entire front end for under $150. 4 bushings and a couple of shocks is all it requires. 🤷‍♂️😉

@@mikesmith-pg3lb See the post above. easy to change. All you need is a press and a couple of hours. Wandering around the road sounds like steering problems. Those pieces are fairly cheap as well. For my 92 it was the steering box. Got a remanufactured one for $125. Truck rides like a dream but for a real smooth ride it needs about 700 to 800 pounds in the box. Those old farm truck springs are a little stiff but with my C8 Gravely in the back you wouldn't know it.

Better ride quality, better suspension geometry, 4 inch drop, bigger brakes and a proven suspension system are all the benefits. Also rack and opinion steering, coilover shocks, aluminum structure, etc etc etc

@MatthewBerginGarage 3 жыл бұрын
@@paulcochran5785 Better ride quality ---- Sorry but no. 4" lower ----- Why? If you want a car buy one, don't ruin a truck.🤷‍♂️🙄 Bigger brakes ------ OK but not really needed, I can lock up all four wheels on my truck at will.😲 Rack and pinion ----- also not really needed as the recirculating ball box does a good job.😉 How are coil over shocks any better than a coil spring and shock beside one another?🤦‍♂️
@paulcochran5785
@paulcochran5785 3 жыл бұрын
@@MatthewBerginGarage because bigger brakes stop better before the tires lock. Also I'm not building a car. I want a truck that doesnt jar my teeth out. And I want it lower to the ground. That's what I like. It's an aesthetic thing too. Also when I adjust my suspension I can adjust my camber and keep my alignment. 😁 Coilovers are more stable and have better control then a coil separated from the shock. Plain geometry. And also I get a sway bar with my cv clip. So I can actually put my truck on a race track and feel confident in it. Handles better, rides better. I bought a truck cuz I like how it looks. I garuntee you it hasn't seen a day of work since I owned it, let aside taking trash off. I can still do that with a raised bed floor. And it takes better thanks to the 7.5L police interceptor engine I modified for even more power. Sorry, not your truck. You dont get to decide what happens to it. Dont tell me what I'm doing is stupid when it's what I want to do. It doesnt hurt anyone to swap a CV clip under a truck. The next generation is gonna ban car modification anyways so fuck it 🤷🏻‍♂️
