These are my favorite Rossington slide solos, in no particular order. I really like his solo from You Got That Right, and of course, his free bird slide work. It's what made me want to play the guitar. I tried lining up the live concert videos to the original audio, but Travellin Man is from the live album. All of these solos are from the original band not the cover band they have today except the new concert vid because youtube blocked the Knebworth video of travellin man.
0:00 You Got That Right
0:51 Travellin' Man
1:33 Same Old Blues
2:39 Free Bird
I do not own any video or audio.

Loved Gary's guitar playing, especially his slide work, gets no respect along with rest of the band, all underrated. I love the Freebird Live @Knebworth where they are out on the tongue, he & Allen standing so cross together tradin licks & Gary looks up & Allen & smiled (since Allen was like 7" taller lol) you can't see Allen's face, I so want to know abt that moment, did Allen say something, those guys knew each other so well, played together so well, you can tell they had special relationship like brothers.

@@robertevans275 yep, & they looked at Ronnie as a brother but also a father figure even though he wasn't much older. I feel bad for Gary bein the last one. I hope he & Allen made peace. I heard during RCB days they were always fighting, I brlieve after Allen's wife died, Gary said he had so much anger in him, that's why they broke up band & Gary & Dale moved to Wyoming. I think it was Gene Odom that said when Allen was in wheelchair, he would come out on stage & he had to speak abt why he was in wheelchair then he would talke abt Skynyrd bein the best band & he went to side of stage to watch with tears tollin down his cheeks. That juat breaks my heart to think abt, I know he brought it on himself but I dpn't think there was any worse punishmemt than to watch the guys all out there & he os stuck in a chair. I hope he Gary were in a good place when Allen passed.

@SNAKE PLISSKIN good question, I wish I knew. It certainly couldn't be abt their reputation because plenty of other bands/people have done crazy, if not crazier than they did. I don't think it is because of time pre-crash band was together becausr there are plenty of acclaimed ones who died in their 20's, so many in the 27 club. I often wonder if the Muscle Schoals tapes they did in 71-72 that were messed up by whoever in charge of recording that when they shopped it around, people thought it was terrible, when guys listened to it, they said this is fucked up & not way we recorded it, somehow it was recorded on wrong side of tape so it sounds like you are in a cave (I did similar myself once , I knew it was wrong immediately, I wasn't recording, just listening on reel to reel & threaded it wrong way so blows my mind, no one figured it out!) Sorry that part so long, kinda hard to explain BUT if record companies had heard properly & loved it, they might have been recored sooner by a few yrs, would that have made a difference? Would it have made a difference, maybe they would never have been on that plane. Guess we will never know. They were headed to the top w/ Street Survivors, Steve was a whole new weapon. Not that Ed wasn't great but Steve wrote lyrics, the guys wrote their music & helped here & there w/lyrics but RVZ was primary songwriter & Steve had the lead vocals that Ed didn't have to give Ronnie's voice a chance to rest sometimes that he desparately needed because of his throat issues. Something I still think abt it & still chokes me up, still grieve
