Few years ago, to have a nice sea food or Mangalore style food, one would have to travel from HSR Layout to Central Bangalore or Indira Nagar. Things have changed drastically now and there are multiple options for sea food/ Mangalore food in HSR. The Coral is one such Mangalore style restaurant which dishes out some of the best coastal delicacies.
Visited them on a Sunday and missed their much praised fish meals, as they server it only on weekdays. Ordered an assortment of Mangalore specialties. The show-stealer was Prawns Ghee Roast, which will tickle your senses and taste buds with its flavour, aroma and taste. The fresh prawns and reddy red Byadagi chilli masala would leave you charmed.
Neer Dose with Mangalore fish curry made with Bangude/Mackerel is another highlight. The flavour of fresh Mackerel elevates the already spice rich fish curry and takes the fish curry experience to the next level.
A full Koddai or Croaker butterflied and tawa fried was another exciting dish. This fish fry was coated with a fiery red chilli based masala and fried to perfection. Priced at 340/- , this is a real good deal to satiate one's fish fry cravings.
Squid Sukka was decent but if the Squid had been fresh, it would have increased the appeal of this dish. Seer fish Rava fry was nice, soft and crisp and went well with the fish curry and rice.
In sum, had a pleasant sea food meal experience which was easy on the pocket as well. Planning to visit them again on a weekday for their Fish meal.
