🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

Lebanese, Syrians are originally from. Mediterranean places like Greek, Cyprus and ethnic jews. There are most likely many hybrids with African, Persian or Arabs too. But Arabs are the one that came from lineage of prophet Ishmael aley Salam , or prophet shuaib aley Salaam. So no Lebanese are typically not Arabs. History wise lebanese m, Egyptian and Syrian speak Arabic due to Christianity and Islam. Because araimic is also semetic language. Christianity was in araimic. There are many from Jewish families too who became Christians or Muslims.

Especially considering that she taught herself! I can understand that as back in my day the kitchen wasn’t a place where a child should be and “children should be seen and not heard” was something that was said quite a lot in my family. So I got a job in a cafeteria at 13, then in a small, family restaurant at 15 and continued to learn and move from prep and line work to head cook through my late 20’s. Finally, at 29 I was able to go to culinary school. It was kinda difficult for me to learn in my early years without someone teaching me and no internet available, so I can imagine how much Abir had to learn on her own. Making and remaking certain things until she was happy with the results. I admire that about her as well.

My only introduction to Lebanese food was at the colorful restaurant at the Stansted airport with the flowers on the ceiling, and it was amazing. I can’t imagine how much better it can get from there. Thanks for this series, and for introducing us to so much more from this fabulous cuisine.
