Recording of BHS Pennines Section Webinar from Wednesday 16th March 2022 given by Aidan Foley (Mott MacDonald). The meeting was titled 'Groundwater Hydrology - Where is all the water?' ahead of World Water Day 2022, the theme of which is 'Groundwater - making the invisible visible'.
The effects of historic mining on the role of groundwater in an upland catchment - Eleanor Williams (JBA)
This talk will describe some work undertaken in North Wales carrying out tracer tests along a stream which was thought to be losing water into former mine workings. This information was needed to help inform the design feasibility of re-routing reservoir outflow into this watercourse with regards to understanding the impacts on flows and, in particular, flood flows.
The meeting was hosted by Rob Burton and Victoria Coates from the BHS Pennines Section committee.
