Big Mecha King Kong - Timelapse and Build Tutorial

This is a 3D printed Mecha King Kong. There is a time-lapse of the print and video tutorial how to build it. The model was created by ToyMark3D and can be downloaded from their website. This King Kong is 150% larger than the original and was printed from Aurapol Pet-G material.

I love the video! 1 question. What scale did you use. I purchased from toymaker but it is under 13 inches. I would like to make it as large as yours. also what glue did you you use and it that some sort of setting agent. Thank you in advance

Hello, thank you for your comment. I have zoomed the mechkong to 150% . Which allows you to print the parts as they are, just zoom to 150%. You don't have to change any part. I use normal CA glue and activator. The activator is used to bond the joints faster and should also make the glue stronger. But it's not necessary

Great vid! What GLUE are you using? And does that spray make the glue dry faster? (think it's called an accelerator?). My biggest problem with this model is the glue so would love any tips... Super Glue (CA) is NOT working well on my PLA model (parts aren't sticking, and the glue likes to off-gas with white residue everywhere... even when it's used SUPER sparsely).

Thank you for your comment. Yes, I used CA glue, but my print was from PetG. There are special glues for PLA, but I have no experience with such glues. I use CA glue for PLA as well. And as I wrote, I use CA glue and activator. The activator should make the joints stronger, but there's not much time to fix mistakes :).

No supports anywhere? Did that make for a lot of cleanup before assembly?

The parts are designed to need no support, so no support is needed. I printed all the parts out of PET-G and there were a few strings that I removed with a heat gun. I dried the filament before printing so there were only a few.

When you gonna do Godzilla!? Does the build instructions tell you where to glue or no? If not how do you know where to glue and what kind of glue did you use?

I already bought the Godizilla model, but I haven't found the time to print it yet :(. When you buy the model, you also get a few pages of a pdf file showing how the parts fit together. But it only says to glue the axe, the other parts don't. I glued the parts that are not part of the joint and didn't stick together. I always folded the part like a hand and figured out what to glue and what not to glue. When I was sure, I used regular CA glue and activator. I watched the video again and hope it is clear, which parts I glued.:)
