In this video, we use the Tadano 180g-5 to lift a 120,000 pound anhydrous ammonia tank. This tank was loaded somewhere in North Carolina and trucked to a location in Northwest Missouri. We had to unload the tank from the transport truck, set the tank on the pedestals, then rotate the tank 90 degrees, before setting it in place.

Years ago (1979 - 80) we build an aluminum fishing boat (32' Bristol Bay Gill netter). The hull was welded up upside down (keel up). The day came when we rolled it out into the parking lot and the crane operator lifted it up and rolled it around so the keel was down and deck up. It was then lowered into the new cradle and rolled inside to continue working. That day I learned crane operators can turn things over when needed.

Just looking at those straps, it’s hard to comprehend that those would be able to lift a load that heavy. Great Vid! Stay Safe 😊

They are made with dyneema and rated for 50,000 pounds each in a straight line pull. But, I agree....looking at them would make a person wonder. Hope you stay safe as well. Many thanks for watching! 🙂🏗

This tank weights about the same as an M1A1 Abrams, so the tank weighs as much as a tank.

Hi from NYC hope all is well. I picked 60 ton tanks from Trinity tanks Texas. Used a Friction Link belt Hc 238a had to roll them over on to feet on sand pile cushions Fun .I put python chokers down low on crane side to flip it no shock load on rigging all into soft sand when flipped. Excellent job.. Be safe.

That would work but it wouldn't be cost effective. The crane is strong and mighty, it doesn't care about a few hundred pounds and the crane cost is the same regardless of that small difference in weight.

The chassis has to flex to relieve and balance stress. Aircraft wings do the same. They flex up and down also twist. The wings on a B52 are probably one of the most extreme in that without the bodies on the wingtips they would drag and during flight they can flex up to 21 feet over the back of the fuselage.

One thing that i can never work out from the outside looking in ?? Is how much weight a crane can lift ? I know there are charts to calculate loads for a certain crane. More so comparing size for size. Meaning a 200 Tonne can can lift a Max of ????? etc etc It,s one of those questions you know without thinking about IF you drive a crane. Just a curious question about cranes in general. Not expecting an answer, just curious. Thanks for bringing us along during your day.

Great video. I thought they was going to hit your outriggers. Like how used dozer to help. How much counter weight did have on, to much noise to hear for me. That was a big tank, my dad used to haul steel tanks for gas station, etc... stay safe you and your family. Love the music 👍.

I just found your channel. Great stuff! You provide lots of interesting information about how cranes work in your commentary. You answer things I've wondered about, and things I never thought to ask. I do have one question I've not found yet in your vids. Where is the sensor for the scales that measure the load? Is it really measuring tension on the cable and adjusting for how many strands you have in the bock?
@ToTheTopCrane
@ToTheTopCrane 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you and welcome to the channel! The sensor for the scale is a transducer which is plumbed into the hydraulics on the boom cylinder. It monitors the pressure, then uses computer algorithms, based on boom length, angle, attachments, etc. to determine the actual load. Many thanks for watching! 🙂🏗
@constructionwatcher5381
@constructionwatcher5381 4 жыл бұрын
@@ToTheTopCrane Thanks. I never would have guessed that's how it works. It takes lots of "translations" to figure load from boom cylinder pressure.

Nice video! I drive a 200t NOV knuckle boom crane 33m radius (24t max outreach on main winch and 10t all radius on aux winch)on a subsea installation vessel and I’ve been driving these types of cranes for many years. As the joystick config on these types of cranes (in Norway atleast) are the same from each maker Im wondering how is the joystick setup on a mobile crane? I’m getting my mobile crane license this summer and to be honest I’m a bit worried I’ll have problems getting used to a new setup and new configs. For some odd reason I’m more worried about that than actually passing the theoretical and practical exams 😂

What decides whether you boom down or cable down? Stay safe and warm.
@ToTheTopCrane

Booming down moves the load farther away from the crane. Cabling down just lowers the load straight down. So, if the piece needs to be moved farther away, boom down it is. Many thanks for watching! 🙂🏗

Nice.... but sems a bit odd. The tank would have been the right way up at the old location, why was it on its side when it arrived with you - ride height perhaps also you coud have used the lifting lugs fitted to the tank top on a four leg brother chain.

@@Sicktrickintuner Dude, I'm a USAF veteran, and I've been around Aviation for 4 decades...I know the difference between a contrail and a Chemtrail...And it has nothing to do with fuel combustion; it's the forming of condensation on the hot engine exhaust shroud that form the ice crystals that blow off; they disappear in seconds...Chemtrails, spread across the sky...Dont ever argue with me, you're not smart enough. What they are doing is Atmospheric modifications...
