WOW...a REALLY GREAT BUCK, the wait was certainly worth it. Congrats Grant. I want to also compliment you on the excellent quality of the footage. I had a tracking dog a few years ago and she was phenomenal. She would get on a wounded deer and stay on that track even if it was crossed by fresher deer tracks, she was a dachshund. You are truly blessed, Bob

The 1 time I hired a bloodhound, the FIRST thing the handler said, "When we find the deer, don't get between the dog and the deer...he will rip on it and will rip on YOU if you are in the way. I'll make sure he stays on the back half so the cape isn't damaged. His immediate reward is trying to tear into it."

Just curious why you didn’t take the quartering away shot just prior to the shot you took? I know the camera angle and the hunters angle can be completely different where you as the hunter couldn’t see that.. Maybe the doe was still an issue in seeing you draw? Im curious did you ever get big sal tested for any disease? Im wondering why hed lose thst much weight and then gain it back.

We collected samples for CWD testing. He didn't have CWD because no deer recovers from that disease. I suspect he had EHD and recovered. There was a lot of EHD in my neighborhood this summer.

Congratulations on a great buck! My only question is why wouldn’t you wait for a better shot angle? The deer was obviously not spooked and had no idea you were there. Taking a shot knowing you’re only gonna get one lung is just a bad decision. One lung and liver hit deer can live for hours and die a slow death, we as hunters need to do better, glad it worked out for you though.

Great hunt, advice and dog recovery. What I can't understand is why y'all let the dog bite on the deer like that. Seems it would be the dog owner's responsibility to pull him off.

I don't understand why they did the reveal video while Echo was chewing on it. Let him claim his reward and then video. Felt like it was degrading to the buck's life.
