🎥 Amazing Snake Fruit Salad: • Amazing SNAKE FRUIT SA...
Phatthalung, Thailand - Welcome to Phatthalung, a province in southern Thailand that I fell in love with due to nature, the relaxed way of life, the incredible food, and fantastic fruit. Today was a special day, tree ripened (and fallen) durian from a 300 years old durian tree. #durian #exotic fruit #Phatthalung #Thailand
I first met Lindsay Gasik back in 2013 when we went to Nonthaburi to eat one of the most expensive durians in Thailand (you can watch the OLD video here • Amazing DURIAN at a Fr... haha!) Since then, it’s been amazing to see her follow her passion for durian and other unique fruits throughout the world. She is one of the world’s top experts in durian, and I’ve learned a lot about durian and other unique fruits from hanging out with her and reading her blog (www.yearofthedurian.com/).
This time, we both happen to be in southern Thailand, and Lindsay invited me to taste durian from a 300 years old tree - maybe older - the oldest and biggest durian tree both of us had ever seen!
Along with this once in a lifetime fruit experience, we also tried some ripe stink beans - they turn orange and almost taste like canistel - starchy and sweet.
Amazing day of unique and exotic fruit in Thailand!
For more information about this 300 years old durian tree and a homestay in the area, go check out Lindsay’s blog: www.yearofthedurian.com/2020/...
Huge thank you to Lindsay Gasik - Year Of The Durian

I cannot find the exact words to describe what impact this video had on me today. I have watched hundreds of Marks videos and have followed him across the world as if I were right there beside him. Mark has taught me so much over the years, but today.... your guest Lindsay..... she made me think a little different today. Every word that she spoke came from her heart. Passionate and knowledgable yet surprised and inquisitive. A true master of the durian. It's not just a fruit. Its history. That sent shivers down my spine! This video just made it into my all time top 3 favourites. Mark and Lindsay, if you ever get to read this comment.... Thank you.

Mark - I just watched your 2013 durian video with Lindsay. Wow - your video style has really changed from this video in 2013 to 2020! I think your fans would really like to see some video bloopers either at the end of each video, once in a while or in something like an annual blooper compilation video. Also - nice 2013 hair... 🤣

Dear Lindsay, if you think only Thailand has a 300 yr old durian tree, then you havent really found the durian. Pls come to Pasir Pandak, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysis and discover at least 250 yr old durian trees which some trunk is as big as 2 meters in diameter. The big bonus is if yiu can find the 'durian tembaga'.

this is the first time seeing the matured/ripen stink beans or petai by turning itself from green to black on the outside! there is also another former communist camp in Betong, Yala Province featuring a tunnel called the Piyamit Tunnel. that tunnel was built by the Malayan communist group led by the late Chin Peng during the emergency era in the 1970s. the ex-Malayan communists continue to live in Thailand and remain barred from entering Malaysia right after a peace treaty called the Haadyai Peace Accord was signed in 1989.

Welcome Lyndsey a Durian Expert! If you ask your friends, 50% hate its stinky smell but the rest love this expensive sweet cheesy fruit. In Thailand, we believe Durian has a hot effect in your body, which can be cooled down by eating mangosteens or drinking a glass of water mixed with a little salt. I end up eating a whole durian, followed by 1 kilogram of mangosteens.

@TheDGirsang
@TheDGirsang 3 жыл бұрын
No it was because the British (used to colonize Malaya) use the word and introduce it to the world . Nothing to do with the origin of the plant ! Just like words bamboo, sarong, kampong, amok, pandan, rambutan, etc... We learn this in subject Bahasa Indonesia as : "kata-kata serapan" dari Bahasa Melayu ke Bahasa Inggris.

Lol why is everyone mad at her? She’s trying her best. Tho I was a little offended by some comments lol Durian this, Durian that.. bla bla bla. Is the word ‘Durian’ a official word for the fruit for ever countries? Each country in Southeast Asia have their own word for the fruit. Durian is a native to southeastern Asia so every country had their own. Where I’m from you can find wild durian deep in the forest and each tree have their own taste. Each tree can be 200-300 years old.

How did you meet Lindsay, Mark?. She is very knowledgeable. Does government have record of age of this tree? The cave reminded me of rescue of stranded boys from the cave few years back. Scary looking caves. Fresh fruits from the trees is a delight. Moreover, Mark your editing is too quick on drone footage. You have only a second footage to show top of the tree. Not good.

@@BigOnSpiceMarkWiens thank you Mark, I read it later in the description and watched that old video also. I did not know someone can specialize in Durian. I have not tasted one yet.

Mark, great video! Two questions: 1, what is the sound that resonates throughout the video and, 2, I would like to get some Durian seeds, can you kindly advise?

Hi Mark, random comment here.... I’m sure a lot of people would be interested to hear about your exercise regimen that keeps you so fit and slim despite being a professional, full-time eater! 😏
