Bike and pedestrian bridges can add a huge amount of value to a local area by creating shortcuts for cyclists that are not available to car drivers. This can plug key gaps in bicycling infrastructure to create safe routes for cycling that allow people of all ages and cycling abilities to get around safely, free from danger presented by heavy traffic. More people cycling also reduces the number of cars on the road, a key objective for multiple reasons. Bridges can also add a lot of value to local properties if they are attractive enough, which could be one way of overcoming local opposition.
Here is a handful of locations in the Lurgan area where bike / pedestrian bridges could be useful and could add to the attractiveness of the area.
