HI, thanks a lot for the tutorial! It helped me a lot! I just wonder if you use some kinda triggering on your snare and mix it up with the analogue sound to make it sound somewhat explosive. If so, what's the sample sound you use for that purpose? thanks
@BirminghamVineyardChurch6 жыл бұрын
Hi Braian, while it is something that we've often thought of trying out, we've never actually done it! If we were to do it though, I'd probably try a TR808 or TR909 type snare sound - something very 'electric' sounding to mix with the acoustic sound.

Yooo, love this, I play at lifespring church just down the road from you guys in wolves! I'm looking at sample pads but this one is a bit out of my price range, have you ever had any experience with the alesis sample pad pro?
@BirminghamVineyardChurch7 жыл бұрын
Hi James, great stuff, thanks! Unfortunately we haven't had any experience with anything other than the SPD. The SPD is pretty expensive but totally worth it.

Great video my dude! I just got my spd-sx this past weekend. Curious to know how responsive your pads on the top row are. Especially the pad on the top far right. I have to really have to put some velocity into my stroke to trigger the pad, (especially in comparison to the lower 2 rows), even after I adjusted the sensitivity settings. Do you guys have to same issue or is mine just busted? Haha.
@BirminghamVineyardChurch8 жыл бұрын
+yetixcoreRVA Hi there, yeah those top 3 pads can be a bit of a pain. We've found that it's about the angle that you hit them out, rather than how hard you hit them. Try setting it up at various angles to find the easiest for you. We've found you need to hit it at about 45 degrees, with the shoulder of the stick. Once you get used to it, it is fine!

Very useful video... Can I ask... Have you seen Michael Schack ? How do you think he prepares his mashups and all that?? Does it require lots of preparation and rehearsal or is more about loading the samples and improvise while playing... Thank you so much

Hi Alex, sorry, I can't say that I have ever seen Michael Schack, so can't offer any advice there! Thanks for watching and for your kind words.

I am thinking of purchasing this machine. My question is, how do you get the loops for songs like you have for spirit breakout?
@BirminghamVineyardChurch7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jazmin, we've made most of the loops ourselves in house with programs like Cubase & Pro Tools. Alternatively, you can download tracks from www.multitracks.com or loopcommunity.com - and if you want to split up the full tracks into individual sections, just do it in something like Audacity or GarageBand (means you don't have to pay for full Digital Audio Workstations!). Hope that helps, Godbless.

How are you getting the klick on it? Do you have to import them for each song or is it possible to change the BPM for the click directly on the SPD SX?
@BirminghamVineyardChurch6 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, there is a click built into the SPD. You can change the bpm for each kit and then just scroll through your kits. However, that obviously won't let you have the band cues for any tracks. We normally use a Boss DB90 for all our clicks, but if we use the SPD for clicks (ie with a track), we'll always import it separately. Hope that helps!

Can u load a tutorial on how to convert sounds or custom make sounds and import them into the spd sx? Many drummers like myself who r clueless with technology will greatly appreciate it.

Better getYamaha DTX Multi 12 ,with twelve drum pads,finger,hands,fpdrum stick sensitive ,you can stack up to four sounds on top of each pad and has 1200 sounds plus you can import you own samples and it costs 444€ this one cost 645€,so a no brainer for the Yammi.

+Spocku Grass and do you have any tips on you mix your own samples?
@BirminghamVineyardChurch8 жыл бұрын
+Spocku Grass Hi! To be honest, the ones on the link above are the only ones we use. Since the video, we've also started using a reverse cymbal sample which is included with the SPD (SE_RevCym), as a noise sweep into big bits of songs. Other than that, we've basically got a whole load of free samples that we just search through to find the sound we want for a particular song. We downloaded a load of samples from here: www.dave40.co.uk/1/VwSlAr.php?id=11 But there are loads of other free samples on the internet. Some samples we use a lot are those that emulate the Roland TR909 & TR808. Mixing your own samples: this just comes down to practice, and having a good ear. In the past, we've used multitracks.com as a basis for our sounds, and then created samples and loops which are similar/work better in our context. So we use multitracks as a reference point. Check out people like kzfaq.info or other people on youtube for tips on mixing generally, to help develop your ear. Hope that this helps!!

Can you record the samples into it?
@BirminghamVineyardChurch7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jake, yes you can, through using the inputs on the back of the SPD. It's not something we've done a lot - we've found that it tends to be a lot more reliable & in time if you make samples in a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) - that way you can perfectly line up all percussion parts, samples and everything. Hope that's helpful, thanks for watching & Godbless.

where did you get sounds for spirit break out?
@BirminghamVineyardChurch7 жыл бұрын
Hi Curtis, we made the loops in Cubase using virtual instruments. You can also download tracks from www.multitracks.com or loopcommunity.com. For the percussion sounds, I can't remember exactly, I think we either used the stock (included) tom sounds, or found some free samples online and imported them. If you want to use our samples, they're all here: drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B6l0VIWVgW_eazYtVVp0cjIwcW8&usp=sharing Hope that helps! Godbless

How do you put the tracks inside the spdsx? I just got mine today
@BirminghamVineyardChurch6 жыл бұрын
Hi Benjamin, thanks for your question. You can either use a computer with a USB cable (using SPD-SX Wave Manager or the SPD-SX-Editor), or you can just transfer the tracks to a USB memory stick, plug it into the back of the SPD, and transfer them through the menu on the SPD itself. Hope that helps!

Why do you have samples in different keys?
@BirminghamVineyardChurch6 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam, we've got a number of different vocalists - all of whom have different vocal ranges and so sing the songs in different keys. We try and facilitate them feeling as comfortable and confident as possible when leading, and so provide samples in different keys. Hope that helps!

Can this trigger video?
@BirminghamVineyardChurch Жыл бұрын
Hi Steve! Thanks for your comment. Unlike with audio, you obviously can't load in video tracks into the SPD (and there is no HDMI out so you wouldn't be able to see any video!). However, you can use this to trigger video in another program (such as ProPresenter) through midi. It's a little complicated to explain here, but if you search for videos on 'triggering videos in ProPresenter with midi', you'll see how to do it from the ProPresenter side. Then just connect your SPD to ProPresenter via a midi interface, or USB cable, and setup a particular pad to send a particular midi message - search for 'Spd midi setup' to find how to do that. Sorry for the vagueness, but the simple answer is yes, this is possible, by triggering a separate piece of video software from your SPD, through midi. Hope that helps!

its sound of ableton?
@BirminghamVineyardChurch8 жыл бұрын
+Jesús Rey De Naciones Hi. We don''t use Ableton at all. We created the sounds in Cubase and loaded them in. All the sounds are stored in the SPD-SX and therefore doesn't need to be linked to ableton. God bless.

Is it true that SPD-S sounds better than SPD-SX ?
@BirminghamVineyardChurch7 жыл бұрын
Hi there, this wouldn't make sense - both work only at 44100 Hz, 16 bit. Really the quality of sound depends on the samples you load into it.
