Visually, yes. Unfortunately it's all style and no quality. The structural materials you don't see are all hard plastic that crack and squeak when you touch them and when driving around. The door liner is bendy and not well attached. The central console wiggles. It takes some owning to find these things out.

Just another stupid, unpractical, expensive car. Thanks God, other car makers started to seriousely produce EV. Competition is good. If by any chance I would receive this car as a gift, I would sell it and buy another car.

I got the MX-30 last thursday. Coming from 90 000 km driving the Kia Soul EV (27 kWh battery). For me this is the perfect commuter car (126 km a day). A little longer range, far better driving experience and loads of equipment, safety equipment etc for a reasonable prize. The Norwegian market for EVs is not relevant for the global market (the Tesla 3 for example costs about 50 000 Euro in Sweden with autopilot after grant, 20 000 € difference). This car should be evaluated and considered as a 2nd car for city drives and commuting. Not as long haul driving! However, a 50 kWh battery pack and 3x16 Amp onboard charger would be great, but I will manage fine as it is.

I'll get mine on Monday, mate! :) you are absolutely correct, that is the most car you can get for the money. It costs around 21k EUR for me, what else could i buy for that amount? A used bmw i3! :D most commenters are only talking about the downsides, but what you can get around this price is a) smaller (zoe, e208, mini, honda e) or b) has way less options and built using cheap materials and definetely not in Japan :) (kona, niro, e2008).

Just got back from doing 290 km today. Got a huge armchair in the back w folded back seats. So maybe this car will be able to do more than you think? Its just nice to spend time in. Long haul well, you know its doable but probably not super convenient over 350 km? Enjoy your MX-30!

Suicide doors because if someone opens the door while driving, the door does'nt closed by the wind. They would opened by wind and on high speed you could thrown out. Nowadays you have a seat belt, but not in 50s - 60s and before.

As a suicide door is pulled outwards by the moving air, anyone trying to close it, using the handle right at the front of it, would also get pulled outwards. Contrast with non-suicide doors which are quite hard to open at speed, more than 30-40 degrees

@findeissb
@findeissb 3 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct. This is the very reason I also ordered this car. A Zoe has far less tech (e.g. no Adaptive Cruise Control) and less build quality, and the e-Niro 40kWh is ~5.000€ more and has some weird optional packages which increases the price gap even more (-> front parking sensors only in the highest tier "Spirit"). I also looked at the Nissan Leaf which is an overall good car, but comes with the wrong charging standard and only an air cooled battery. Not future-proof enough for me! So, for my purpose, the Mazda is the optimal 2nd car to accompany my Passat GTE :)
@hawedehre

Exactly. The 300+ miles people don't have a clue about EVs imho. Of course more is more but, but range is not the only factor when buying a car. It's features, look and style, price also. Nevertheless range is k.o. criteria if you do more than 200 km a day, but then you will get a different car.

Suicide doors: Before the Seat Belt law, if you opened a 'suicide door' at high speed, usually because it was not properly closed, the sudden opening due to the wind when you were gripping the handle with force will 'suck' you out with a poor prognosis of life...

Mazda did it so save money. Models from a few years ago did have a touch screen but it was limited to 30 km/h which at least used to allow you to quickly set up sat nav before you leave. Given the hardware controls and the OS haven't changed at all, I bet you Mazda did it increase their profit. Also, you can pack both hardware controls and touch controls which ensures safety but also usability for that stationary use case and for the co-driver. So, again, profit.

@@stuka78 If you lease the car, why would you. If you're planning to keep the car 20+ years, it is essential not to hammer before the temperature is up. Just like ICE. If you want to do the environment a favour, you look after your extremely expensive battery. So it depends... Just like fossil... Tesla has so much space on screen and such a easy way for OTA updates. This update is overdue. I don't understand why only some performance models get this. Edit: Battery degradation is extreme, if you hammer your EV with very cold battery temperature.
