@@samusaran7317 This is not a SUV, but a small cross over, comparable to the Soul, NiroE or the Peugeot 2008 E. Compared to similar cars, it's heavy, thirsty and charges slowly. It's just what it is...in my opinion a compliance car and/or show car to let people think Mazda is green and modern. Mazda makes good looking cars that drive great. They are innovative in the ICE stuff, but way below average (or even acceptable) with the EV part of it all.

yes, but it will be great with Rex, thats coming in a year or so. 150km of range is perfectly fine if you can turn on Rex on longer trips. I really hope they will not cripple the range extender in a same way BMW did in i3 with unusable tank capacity (9 liters only).

As many other car builders, may be this car could exist in order to avoid huge penalties coming soon in some markets like Europe. It allows Mazda to average CO2 of their offers. I cannot understand differently the existing of this car...I consider japanese manufacturers shooting itself in the foot by keeping Chademo on global market and feeling them not really open mind regarding VE. Hybrid and that’s it... Mazda will launch a new petrol 6 cyl (probably for US market) but do they waste money in wrong ways and they could lose a lot. Strategically speaking, it sucks.

Because Bjørn said he didn’t know why they are called suicide doors, here a little history on how that name came to life: In the late pre WW2 and early post WW2 years, the door opening towards the front became increasingly popular among European and American car manufacturers, featured in extremely popular cars such as the Mercedes V170. They soon received broad criticism for safety issues, as several deaths occurred when drivers whose doors weren’t closed properly had their doors blown wide open due to the direction of their opening, and when trying to close them again fell out of their cars at high speeds as they had to lean far out to reach the handle and seatbelts weren’t around yet. This earned them their name as suicide doors and also lead to their extinction by the 1960s :) The back doors of today’s suicide doors cars don’t open that easily, therefore making them safe.

I see this car as more of an idea of Mazda's future potential. One thing they've proven time and time again is that they can take a concept and improve on it in unexpected ways. They're a small brand compared to the other big names like Hyundai, Toyota, etc; they don't have the money to throw into developing new vehicles like the bigger companies do, so they put something out there and make improvements over time. If range is a problem now, it won't be in a few years. Yeah, the MX-30 has its limitations, but that means Mazda can only go up from here.

The sound it makes is actually nice, and it drives really well. For city driving, it's a great car to drive. Trunk is of a decent size. Headup display is awesome. The reasons why I didn't buy it: - you can't open the rear windows - rear seating arrangement is dark and gloomy - open the frunk and notice all the wasted space. Being a city car, that just makes it harder to park. There are no options for storage in the frunk But that sound... makes you want to drive it more.

Nice and fair test. I looked at this before going with the e-2008. If only the range was better, I would probably have gone with the Mazda, as I really like their design, and interior. And, I'm kinda used to Mazdas, having had a MX-5 and a CX-3 previously. But, the short range would make it a bit of a gamble to get home from work during winter.

This car costs in Germany 22 thousand Euro, officially after grants it should be over 23k, but there are discounts available. This is an amazing price... ridiculously so. I can get a pretty much naked civic for this, or this fully loaded electric. PS. Oh by the way, what cold gate? It's slow, yes, but there is active temp battery management and you need to turn it on in the options ;) Edit 6 months later in case someone is reading this still - the active battery temperature management is a joke. Doesn't work, at least not at any normal temperatures I've experienced. Battery heating would be necessary to achieve advertised charging speeds, as is in winter it takes well over an hour to charge 20-80%. Don't buy this car if you need something that supports quick-charging. This one doesn't. I'm still ok with it, but you need a charger at home or close by for this machine to make sense.

I have owned the MX-30 1st edition since release early March 2021, I have found when you get to 80% there is zero point charging on CCS and that you are better off switching to a type 2 charger, plus I would never charge past 80% instead I have the car set to cut charging on CCS once it hits 80% because the time it take to charger to 100% on CCS VS the time it would take to get to my next charger is not worth the last 20% unless obviously I had no choice. personally I frog leap between chargers when doing longer journeys, I will drive till I get to 20% then charger to 80% which since the last Mazda update seems to take just under 30 min now, and drive to my next stop till I get down to 20%, I would hardly ever charge to 100% unless I am charging from the type 2 charger. Personal best doing Irish motorway speeds which is 120kmph I got 120km’s before stopping for a charger at 12% battery . My usual daily work commute is 80km a day doing those motorway speeds so this dose what I need it to do and more. Small battery’s equal lighter car which quail to better handling car also this thing on backroad is fun tbh. Also the battery seems to like 80kmph speed limit that’s when it sips power. At the moment I am getting 19.2kwh per 100km, but I have a led foot tbh and this summer has been pretty cold in Ireland this year, but last year I was getting closer to 17.8kwh per 100km but the weather was 30°c.

I'm the owner of a 2023 Mazda MX-30 GS as my first EV because I like the look & finish and the way it handles. Price wise, it's pretty good as Mazda offers a 4000$ rebate and another 12000$ in rebates from the federal & provincial governments (Quebec, Canada). I have to say I use it as a second vehicle to do all my shopping/groceries/meetings etc... all within 40 km from my house and I won't use it during winter time (October 31 to may 01). I understand the range is said to be 160 km but I've done more than 180 km on rural roads & city roads and it was showing15% left! But if you're looking for a primary vehicle for all year around including long trips, you should consider an EV with a 360 km minimum range knowing that in winter time when it's really cold (-20c +), you'll be using "heating/heated seats/heated streering etc..." which will have a negative impact on the range (minus 40% +) and it will take longer to charge. 😊 I forgot to mention, my average is 16 kwh/100 km.

The bonnet of the car is sooo big. IMO they should have reduced the size of it, seeing as you don't need an entire engine block for it

Maybe Winter tyres might not be the most efficient. The specific tyre EU rating may explain a lot of the downfalls. All Winter Tyres seem to be rated C for Fuel Efficiency, at least from my google searches.

Aww Mazda! What a shame... the range, the weight and the charging speed. Still seems like a good (and stylish) first try by them
