Charles, a woman killed herself yesterday here in Wilmslow. She threw herself off the bridge on to the A34 bypass. Not that unheard of you might think… but the crazy thing about this, is her husband was with her in the car… she was driving over the bridge, and out of nowhere she pulled the car over, and jumped off into traffic. Can you imagine how he ever gets over witnessing that? I didn’t witness the jump, but I witnessed him crying in distress being comforted by a woman. I live very close by. I say this to you, because I know you’ve been to Wilmslow quite recently. And we really need to do something about mental health crisis. And what the crisis is: is people who are a little bit sad, and think they are entitled to happiness, when they don’t have it, the tell everyone they have MH issues, and take up valuable resources. So people like this woman, clearly with REAL mental health issues, have to wait 8 weeks to see a mental health professional! That is what the crisis is. And I hope you will try and bring awareness to this issue Sir Charles!

My first experience of Blackpool was a very rainy summer day trip in 1974. So excited as the Dr Who exhibition had recently opened earlier that year. To come face to face with the monsters and Daleks you had been terrified by on tv was both fascinating and darn scary. You could walk into the pleasure beach free and pay per ride which was pence. The funhouse was fantastic albeit the scary laughing clown. The song "Beach Baby" was in the charts then and always reminds me of this visit whenever I hear it, which of course is rare now. It was much more a family resort back then with lots of elderly folk who came out of the war dressed in flat caps, raincoats, headscarves' and tweed jackets. Last time I went was 1994 and it had already got pretty seedy by then. I might drive up again this year and document it for old times sake.

The best thing is people are slating Blackpool like the rest of the UK is some kind of Utopia. 😂Ok there are some nice places to visit in the UK if you really look hard enough but overall percentage wise the UK has been allowed to become a complete s******e. So slate Blackpool if you must but I’d strongly advise you to open your eyes and look around where you live whilst you’re doing it. 🤔

Yeah, that's what I always do Charlie , park about a mile away from any restrictions and get a taxi in or a bus even. It runs a lot of cheaper trust me🏴
@Damien6163 ай бұрын
You need a bus or taxi to go one mile?

@Damien616 when I was younger I could run it but now, I can't even barely walk it . And 1 day the same thing will happen to you And how do I know this because I was young and fit like in the 80s And when older gentlemen were trying to explain to me what it was gonna be like when I got in my 60s I laugh at them 🤔🏴.

@Damien616 Put it this way when I was 49 I used to regularly go to a gym.At 52 had to pack it in because I couldn't hack it no more at 55 I could barely lift myself up the stairs and now at 62 I am goosed That's why I have to get buses and taxis. I can't walk too far. And it has nothing to do with drugs. Or steroids.

I see people all the time saying how wonderful a holiday in Blackpool is. There is no way, after this video, I would ever subject myself or my children to this place! Unbelievable! Looking forward to being in Tenerife in 2 days 😍

Some people getting very territorial and offended on blackpools behalf in the comments. I don’t understand why people defend these derelict towns where the people are all jobless losers. Same when they defend crackheads too.. they’re violent and would probably mug them given half a chance, yet ppl in the comments will defend them as if their lives depend on it hahaha

Was in Blackpool on Friday was shocked at the slum like conditions that was clearly evident through the town, it seems Blackpool has been abandoned to the slum landlord/ hoteliers, even on the golden mile it looked grubby and uncared for ! Surely the town council has a lot to answer for these authorities cannot keep harping back to the pandemic for an excuse to do nothing, Blackpool for years has been a favourite destination of ours Now just like a lot of the hotels is seems to be a uncared for crumbling botched up dump so so sad Blackpool Authorities hang your heads in shame !!!

I went there in the 70s as a young lad with my cousin and grandparents and had a lovely time. Stayed at a nice hotel on the promenade and remember going on the haunted train and funfair. We saw a circus show on the pier if my memory serves me well. Sad to see its gone downhill

Why do you go out off your way to find people with drink and drug issues you don't know how they ended up that way in the first place nor do you care once again an easy target for your money shot your such a wanker I'm livid cause I didn't know you were in the town today I would have sent you back to manchester with a very sore pair of bollox something that's long overdue leave vonerable people alone ab is a proper auditer unlike you you have nothing in common and never will take a leaf out of his book and show human beings respect

I was born and raised next to Blackpool (St Annes-on-Sea) and I'm appalled at how disgusting Blackpool is now. I remember being in a school choir, which took part in the police concert, at the Winter Gardens. I also used to go to dinners there, with my parents. So, it's nice to see they've kept that building looking good. But how can the council justify spending somewhere around £80million, on the seafront, whilst the rest of the town goes to ruin?

There's a huge multi-story carpark smack in the middle of Blackpool centre, really not far from where they illegally parked - so if they can't be bothered to use it - TOUGH!

I was born bread and buttered in Blackpool. It was in fast decline at the end of the 60s. The best parts still remain like, Stanley Park, The tower and ballroom. The Grand theatre. As a kid I used to walk along the prom to read all the saucy postcards!
