Who knew angle iron could be used to make different animals!? In this video I make a cat, and a stamp to make the eyes.
About a year ago I saw pictures of steel animals made by Elizaveta Polikashina, and that inspired me to make this one!

Hi Torbjörn. I am Elizaveta Polikashina. I accidentally saw your video and I want to say that I am very pleased to see my name in the description of the video. The cat turned out great!

Thank you so much! I saw pictures of your animals about a year ago, and they stuck to my mind, and when we got the kittens I thought it would be a great time to try something along the same concept. I think you have balanced the amount of detail perfectly together with simple lines. Less is more so to speak! :) I might have added too much detail but I'm quite pleased anyway.

Those things are filled with sentiment, and memories. Everyone will remember the time, the kittens, and the happiness that is now and will be with them. That piece of art will go with your child forever, and they will always remember you and the love you had for them....I admire your skill, commitment, and thoughtfulness. It made me shed a tear. Love that. The Kittens will love venturing out into that nice garden you have, keeping the pests away :)
@dutchcourage7312
@dutchcourage7312 3 жыл бұрын
Well, that might not be entirely true, see the pests you mean are 'mice' (and the occasional bird). We consider them pests because not to long ago our foodstorage methods weren't up to the wits of this species (mainly in regards to grains). But have you ever considered what mice actually eat during the year? From what i could tell from my own garden, they eat a fair number of snails, and the birds obviously eat a lot of insects. So in a sense mice are actually controlling pests, and so are birds, adding in a cat thus reduces pest control. (now obviously if the mice have unlimited food supplies, they will turn into an actual pest, but if you store you foodstuffs well that shouldn't be the case, and thus their numbers will stay limited anyways. Introduce the cats, expect more slugs (and other soft tissue pests) to rise !

I am so pleased to see this video, not only because of your excellent work, but because your child was helping you in the smithy. My fondest memories of my father are of the hours and hours we spent in his workshop - almost always in silence. Either I helped him with his projects or we worked together on separate projects. He taught me so many skills. I cherish those memories now that he is gone, and to this day I love watching videos of KZfaq makers - probably because of those hours I spent with my dad.
