The accent being so realistic or the closest Hollywood has ever come to mimicking the accent was amazing. I was able to resonate with the Nyabinghi drums and all the places shown in the movie. I got goosebumps because I could actually relate to so many things. growing up and hearing about the Civil War in the 70s and seeing that on screen reminded me of stories my mom used to tell me growing up. I loved that they stuck to the image of bob doesn't cry and Bob isn't soft because that is how we see him. I understand that this is a Hollywood movie being marketed internationally but truth be told this movie was made for the Jamaican audience. For us it wasn't so much about Bob but that they took time to learn our language and our mannerisms. We're happy with it and while I understand it was hard to understand at times, thank you for seeing the movie.

Hopefully I will be watching this soon. Bob Marley bought an old church in downtown Louisville Kentucky about one block from my brothers apartment. He is going to turn the old church into his restaurant called knocking on heavens door.

@@Menstral obviously Bob Marley died in the 1980s so someone associated with his name bought church property with an old church still standing. They are going to turn that property into a restaurant named after one of his songs. The restaurant should be completed either in 2024 or 2025. The property is located about a half mile from where interstate 65 and 64 meet just before you cross over the Ohio river.

I’m interested in this one but haven’t had much time to get to the movies lately. I’ve wanted to see ISS and Godzilla minus 1 but couldn’t. Think I’ll hold off for streaming on this one as there’s a couple others coming out this weekend and next I’d rather see. The Any Winehouse movie is very intriguing to me. That’s a story I’d like to see

I don't think people are used to biopics being these condensed life stories which I now consider to be boring. I liked this film because it gives us a chance to see the inspiration behind one of his biggest album Exodus. People wanted to see his infidelity to feel like he was human but we see his dark side when he beats the crap out of his manager. Those two years theu focus on in the film we see a man that has just gone through a traumatic incident, his emotional and mental state. We see a vulnerable side of him when his doctor tells him he has a rare type of cancer. I really am convinced that Americans are so accustomed to a certain presentation in film they tend to overlook some nuances. The film is not perfect but it is a good still a good biopic

I just saw it, IT IS AWESOME. I went in thinking that they could not pull it off because of the accents, but he did a great job portraying Bob. I wish it was a bit longer though. There is so much more to tell.

This film has big shoes to fill. I saw the musical twice, it was fantastic. 3:29 Unfortunately , unlike the musical, Kingsley is not singing but I love the actor & director. 4:50 I don’t expect anything controversial in music biopics nowadays because the record label and family use them to advertise the back catalogue. If they’re going to continue to sanitise real artists, I’d want more films like *Robert Townsend’s The Five Heartbeats* (based on a a fictional Motown band), or satire like *Walk Hard & Spinal Tap.* 😂 I still want to see this film because Bob’s music is great. 6:35 *Biopics wish-list:* David Bowie, Curtis Mayfield, Rage Against the Machine, Prince & Sly and the Family Stone

We should encourage people to see with caption - no disrespect to Jamaicans speaking English; we have problems understanding New York, Boston or Southern accents as well…😂😂😂 The movie is pretty sanitized and everything is just hinted or we just see glimpses of them, except for the shooting/assassination. It is a shame - the musical performances and the troubles in his life…

You can only muster millions of dollars so many times, best to tell the story correctly when you get a chance. Every message/point that could be a takeaway for the film... seemed like a first/second draft, incomplete and without conviction or completion. Some better dialogue and 2-10 extra minutes could have gracefully concluded many story arcs present in the film that needed resolution. This movie could have been made much better with minimal time & effort, and no extra money. The film was a bit ugly and dingy and reminded me of a TV movie. Maybe there should be a director's cut at least twice as long if they filmed additional content. Music business - Often musicians are terrible business people and planners. Sadly the movie made Bob Marley seem like a bit of a dolt, ignoring good advice at every turn. Rasta - No wonder this half-wit 'feel good rasta spirituality' never took hold beyond the dorm room liberation of a pot smoking good time. It's the philosophy of low intelligence dreamers. Reggae - There will always be some genre (reggae) music output available for the purest, but basically reggae started flaming out almost 40 years ago, as most musical movements do, after a very interesting 20-year run. Legacy - In Midsommar, stages of life were split into 18-year seasons: spring (until age 18), summer (ages 18 to 36), fall (36 to 54), and winter (54 to 72). Bob Marley died at 36 (the end of 'summer') and surely the creativity of 99% of musicians die at or before this age. Like James Dean, Bob Marley died at the perfect time to have a legacy. Politics - An intelligent person could always render a political reality check in less than a minute, but if this could not be done then the politics should be ignored.... because the politics go on and on, based on the laziness, the greediness, and the incompetence of human beings. The best that can be said is that one group of ideological or greedy nitwits are trying to achieve power over another group of ideological or greedy nitwits. Charisma - The movie message was an anti-message of non-offense. Did political strife make Bob Marley who he was? No. This is the problem that committed leftists always make. Charisma is genetic, and Bob Marley was highly likely to achieve no matter what was happening. Saint Rita - Wokeness infected this story like brambles in the forest. If you want to appeal to the world, then every white person is not an interloper. Rita was portrayed as some firebrand female in the movie, and then I saw that she produced it. In interviews Rita has been more graceful. Let's have a reality check, what has Rita done since Bob died? She has had the easiest of lives, living off his money. For a 'very unattractive single mother' who already had 1 girl before marrying Bob Marley, she was very very lucky. In the movie she talked about the children he had with other women, but she had 2 children from other men AFTER she and Bob were married.... Huh?
