Very nice adventure guys ! I was up to Lows about a week ago, can’t wait to go back. Nice hammock set ups ! Good to see you using the cold handle pan and pots the way they were intended, and not afraid of a little soot. As you know if you just carry them in a cloth bag, no issues ! Those brookies were awesome ! Peace !

Your style of videography was perfect for fully capturing the trip experience: a very active "eye"; wide sweeps and details both; the occasional nature close-ups. Actually it started with your choice of a river full of variety. BTW never saw such beautiful trout. Kudos!

@@NatureIntoAction And I'd like to go along! No chance though, my last Adirondack canoe trip was 60 years ago. Plus, I now live in Israel. Believe me, canoeing on the Jordan River just doesn't do it for me while canoeing on the Sea of Galilee is dangerous: sudden storms with fierce winds are always a danger. It's an especially beautiful sea however, well worth a visit.

How is the bass fishing up there? Lowes lake or anywheres in that area? I like trout fishing but also really like bass fishing and i have noticed from my experience in the ADK's alot of the ADK lakes and ponds that once held nice trout now have alot of largemouth and smallmouth bass instead with now fewer trout. Is that true from your experience? Thanks for sharing your trips!

Lot of small and large around but I really really like brook trout and don't focus often on bass. I often troll a line with swivels and catch one on the way to camp. Bet you could have fun with them all the way to grass pond at end of lows lake.

I was going to do that trip 24 years ago but an injury kept me from the portage. Married. 6 years ago lake too choppy to go out in lows with son's. Now my son wants to do this one. It looks well traveled and easy to find the trails, but did you see anyone else?
@NatureIntoAction
@NatureIntoAction 6 жыл бұрын
We saw folks on the paddle out to Lows Lake and 2 sites were taken in Grass Pond where we stayed night one. After that we didn't see anyone until High Falls. At that point there were a few campers and some day paddlers especially around High Rock as it's an easy and beautiful day trip paddle destination. The portages were easy to follow and open. The only potential challenge is the many beaver dams on the upper Oswagatchie but that is also what makes the trip so much fun. If I did it again, I would stay on the Upper Oswagatchie for 2 nights. Good luck!

so the part on thr map where you plan to go on the oswagachi, how can you tell that the direction you planned to go is downstream and not upstream? also, how to you tell how fast the water moves in that river based off the map? because i know theres some cases where the water coukd be very slow moving there you can go upstream. but im having a very hard time figuring all this out to plan and go on a trip. any advice and info woukd be amazing i feel stuck and discouraged. this seems hard to figure out
@NatureIntoAction

The water is always flowing downstream. You could check usgs for a water gauge or just call a local paddle shop. If you wanted to paddle upriver you could start at inlet.

rockett outdoors most folks stick to the bog river flow and lows lake or below high falls on the oswagatchie. The upper Oswagatchie definitely had the remote feeling...if I do it again, I would plan more time just staying put in that area. I don't know how the bugs would be but probably early may is just before full on bug net living. Good luck.
