I definitely enjoyed hearing about this book and would appreciate more videos of this ilk. I don't have any specific requests, but I'm open to hearing about any books you find interesting enough to share. Slavic resources in English are challenging to find in my opinion, so thank you for sharing this.

I've been very interested in Slavic paganism for a very long time, but it's very hard to find decent resources in English. Academic resources are usually very dry or nationalistic or rely on a heavily christian background. And pagan resources tend to be, like you said, seemingly constructed by the author instead of rooted in any kind of study or research. You saying it's well worth reading means a lot to me and I'm really excited now to read this book!

I’m about half way through this book so far, and I agree with your review. I appreciate the academic approach and the comparisons throughout. It is really hard to find decent books on Slavic folklore in English, and I think this one is a good starting point.

Sounds really interesting, does it have good bibliography? Completely unrelated, are you planning to make more videos where you tell folkloric stories and analyse them as you did with the ballad material? I really enjoy those stories and actually reading or hearing the folklore itself help understand how those beings were characterised and understood in folklore, rather than just hearing a summary or explanation. Thank you for your work.

Ya, good book. I did a review of it recently for the facing north book review site. I am starting to see a little more writing on Slavic cultures in English, which is great! And, most of what I read is pretty academic so that part didn't faze me - like you, I appreciated that he explained what he was doing as he was doing it and I also like comparative approaches.
