I'd be curious what you'd think of vigils justice. The main character interacts with the fae quite a bit. I believe he had a male impish small pixie like "friend," a Puka, I think. He is an awful little shit, but keeps his word, though he may leave out details.

I will give you some Make decisions quickly, read quickly, act quickly even sleep quickly. Dont take too lomg falling asleep. They think faster than us. Be straightforward when you want something unless you want to take without asking then do not be straighforward. Always have a plan, even when you do not have a plan , make sure you have a plan for not having one. Also be free and follow your own rules What is left to waste is not wanted and is free game. Keep things even. Do not give unwanted gifts because then they will feel indebted. Being indebted sparks anger because it is a feeling of powerlessness. Be blunt /confrontational. Stick up for yourself, cut to the chase. Just making this up /maybe

Thank you so much for sharing these. I'm definitely going to try and get my hands on as many of these as I can. As I've been getting more grounded in my faith I've had this ever growing compulsion to study the sidhe, and I'm getting the feeling that they're probably going to become more and more important in my life. I have mixed feelings about that, to be honest. But, it's been a massive relief to find your channel as I had no idea where to properly begin. Thank you again for all the work you do!!

This is so interesting! I love the idea of the beings following people from a diaspora, and I kinda relate to that experience? I'm French Canadian and my earliest Irish ancestor is my grandfather's grandmother, so it dates back quite a bit. But I remember learning about our ancestry as a young child and instantly feeling a connection with Ireland. Later, I started to work through decolonizing my spiritual practice, so I try to not act as if Irish culture is completely mine to use and I want to be respectful of actual Irish perspectives. But Irish culture impacted my people's culture a lot, so it's reassuring to be able to feel a connection while being part of the diaspora since it has been so important to me since I was a child. Next step is learning the language to understand core mythological texts better 😊💚

Really interested to see what you think about the sightings/interactions with fairies here in NZ, The first settlers the Maori around 1000AD were the first to see them and they were completely foreign to the deities /spirits they were familiar with.in their homelands. Maori are dark skinned people with specific cultural practices and the beings that they determined were fairies are completely different in looks, language and behaviours- essentially blond blue eyed hill folk that would enchant people travelling alone and potentially take them to their dwelling place sometimes never to be seen again, i'm not sure that there have been recorded sightings by the 2nd lot of migrants (British} in the late 1700;s, it is certainly not a part of the culture here although Maori certainly believe in their exixtence.

I can't believe I waited this long to binge these videos. This has answered so many questions. Alot of it, I kind of knew but was going with my intuition. I definitely understand now what the confusion with fairies is about. Well, some of it. Lol. They seem more like nature spirits and/or the dead/ancestors. I'm including elves. Of course, there are other ideas, but that's a long story.

One thing that BLOWS my mind is how easily she uses the word "fairies" which I consider an unnecessary disrespect to them. Fairy spirits, fairy beings, fairy folk, fair folk, I mean, I just don't feel capable of saying the word "fairies" four times in a paragraph as if that is not a dire choice.

In Homer’s Odyssey he refers to the Danaans (Tuatha Dé Danann) as being a collective term for the Greeks. As well as that, the tale of Odysseus visiting the Island of ‘Ogygia’ is almost identical to Oisín visiting Tír na nÓg. Surely there is a connection here.

Isnt the bean tighe a scottish legend? it is found in Maclagens manuscripts so the myth existed in scotland in the late 1800s. Pages 7310 if you want to check it out. I will say that the myth didnt mention anything about strawberries and cream lol. It was more a creepy ass rolling "thing" that follows housewifes on their daily chores. or thats what I got from it.
@MorganDaimlerfairies
@MorganDaimlerfairies 3 ай бұрын
I'd have to read that source, as I'd never heard of it in Scottish folklore. Especially as Bean Tighe is Irish, the Gaidhlig is bean-taighe, just meaning 'house wife', and it seems odd for the Irish language term to be in a 19th c Scottish source. But I'll research it. As far as I know the concept of the Irish bean tighe fairy is completely modern.

@MorganDaimlerfairies i will say that a lot of the gaelic used is not quite gaidhlig. Not sure of the languages evolution or what maclagans level of knowledge is for the language and wether he is just writing it as he hears it or what. But it does certainly say bean tighe. I thought it was the bean nighe for a second and had to google bean tighe which brought me here. Im going down a rabbit hole tonight. Be really interested in your thoughts on it as my gaelic knowledge is well non existent. He does directly translate it as house wife though regardless of spelling. Its all avaiable as scans on open books btw. Edinburgh uni have a link to it (Sorry same person different account)

Sorry, around 15:00 you lost me a little with talk of the Leprechaun. When you said Leprechauns are not members of the Aos Sidhe, were you suggesting that while the Puca or the Leprechaun - whatever the original word for them was - are otherworldly beings, they are not "fairies?" Are "fairies" only the Aos Sidhe, the shining ones, the good folk, the fair folk, and beings like the Puca are just separate dudes that occupy the same otherworldly, spiritual plane of existence?
@MorganDaimlerfairies
@MorganDaimlerfairies 3 ай бұрын
It was just meant to illustrate that it's a complex subject. We'd consider Leprechauns a type of fairy, but they aren't members of the Aos Sidhe in the older stories. Everything gets very muddy with who is part of what category or group.

Great video! I've found that there are many similarities between the Aos Sidhe and Kami of Japanese Shinto. in Shinto the Gods like Amaterasu etc. are all Kami but so are the tiniest little forest spirit. There seem to be many parallels between Shinto and Irish paganism from what I've seen.

Very nicely done! I've wondered about this for a long time. One thought that comes to me in here is that if you want dogma and universalisms, folklore in general probably isn't going to be a happy time for you. And then when you pour victorian (and post-victorian) syncretism into the pot, things get even more jumbled. I like the idea of a basic taxonomy in here, with aos sidhe as 'a superclass', and TDD as a type of/subclass of that because it eloquently handles belonging, but without the obligation of sharing all traits.

I always thought that the nobility of the Tuatha De Dannan married into the nobility of the Aos Sidhe, and gained their royal holdngs from the high king of the Aos Sidhe after they lost the above ground portion of Ireland to the Milesians.

The good folk can be found anywhere and all over the world. The Japanese have Yokai, the Africans have the Aziza and etc... The realms in which they dwell is diverse and faeries of all sort of often shape shifter's. I'm an American black chic who grew up experiencing paranormal and otherworldly episodes. It took years for me to admit I'm psychically inclined, because of trauma and feeling like i was cursed. I've always been weird w/ the feeling of tip toeing between two places. My mother's last name is Scott-Irish and I carry it. The English, Irish and Scottish intermixed w/ people from all over (past/recent); who may not outwardly look like them, but their blood flows the same. Also, I believe people bring their beliefs and gods over...sorta similar to the "American Gods" series concept. The Earth probably was a stomping ground for many beings before humans became numerous. Bridget from Celtic mythology for example is married to Baron Samedhi in the loa pantheon or voudun. The melding of Irish and African American cultures. I grew up seeing faeries abd have had some bizarre ass experiences w/ them. I even met a woman in my dreams who was split down the middle; black and white. Like half of her was shadowed and the other half pale, luminescent and fair. Long wavy Blonde hair and hypnotic blue eyes...like Galadrial. She called our meeting peculiar. The episode was like being half in and half out of awareness. Two worlds were blending. I saw a woman sitting at a piano playing music; while she seemed like a shadowy silhouette w/ flowers growing from head. It was bizarre. There were people trooping playing musical instruments. That took place in a wooded area. It gets weird sometimes. I would think they'd stick w/ their own or maybe its the energy or vibration of the place and people. 🤷‍♀️ If anyone knows the name of the white/black faery queen looking lady or folklore about her....can you please point me in the right direction? Give me a name. Lol

I’ve tried leaving offerings and felt like… “it was not very welcome”. When I stopped living the offerings things started flowing better again. I wish I knew how to find a way of balancing things to make them happy. My front yard for example is not open for my dogs, I’ve been trying to make it happy and full of flowers. I wonder if that’s something.

You know one thing that makes me puzzled? If one day there would be at least a few years here, then the fairy rings would most likely always be active? Why don’t they stay up for longer if they could be dancing for what could be a century for us?
