🧗Bob & Karri are 2 ordinary, 50 somethings that decided to sell everything and say goodbye to traditional living in favor of RV Life. They started making videos for friends and family and posting to KZfaq. After meeting several “KZfaqrs” they were disgusted with what they were clued into. They now make videos to dispel all the nonsense and call out FAKE RV LIFE. They share honest advice and a clear love for the RV lifestyle, all with an underlying message that YOU can do this!

We do a lot of dry camping in state and federal lands. There is usually some good space between sights so you don't feel crowded. We use spray bottles to wash dishes. We put gallon jugs to add water for the toilet so we don't need to run the water pump. We use the minnie string lights to light the bathroom at night. Makes it easier to get around with out using up the main batteries.

Excellent video, thanks. I think water is everyone's limiting factor when boondocking. We carry 110 gallons of water with us which typically lasts us the typical 2-week BLM and FS limit. We sometimes go for more in our toad if we run short - usually only if it's hot and we shower a lot. Your mileage may vary - some use more some less. Wastewater is another important consideration. We boondock almost all the time and find that our 50-gallon black tank will last the 2 of us about a month, so we often transfer 15-20 gallons of gray water over into our black tank to stretch our gray tank's capacity to last 2-week BLM and FS limit, as your gray tank will always fill first. The extra water in our black tank helps it to empty more completely when we eventually dump. In most places you can't dump your gray water on the ground, (and you must never dump your black water in any place but a dump station) though there are a few dispersed camping areas on BLM land where you are allowed to drain "wash water" on the ground well away from other campers and 200ft away from any water sources. When on BLM land, it's permitted, and our gray tank is full, we will filter our gray water through a dedicated Clear 2O Dirtguard 10 Micron Sediment Pre-Filter reserved for this purpose exclusively, before draining some filtered water onto the ground (to remove food particles whose odor attracts animals and insects.) We then backflush this filter when we get to a dump station so it's ready for use again, as it fills up pretty quickly. The desert plants will love it. I've seen campers drain some gray water into an inflatable, weighted kiddy pool. They then let it evaporate and remove the dried residue that collects in the bottom to dispose of properly in a dumpster or waste receptacle. Here's a good link if you are considering releasing gray water on the ground. www.boondockersbible.com/learn/can-i-dump-my-gray-water-on-the-ground/ Fortunately, we've never had anything stolen or damaged while boondocking. Nevertheless, I also recommend carrying bear spray and/or other more lethal means of defending your life (if you are trained and proficient in their use) from the dangerous animals out there - most of which are the 2-legged variety, for sure.

This was a great list. I think all of the items go back to either do your research, or be respectful. Another thing to help conserve water while boondocking is cleaning wipes. Several companies make them and it helps when you want to clean up but not use water to shower.

Great callout on the wipes. Karri isn’t a fan but they sure do come in handy!

I lived in Jamestown, North Kingstown and West Warwick mostly. We did live a year in Westerly too. I’m hovering to spend a month in Jamestown at a friends house on the bay.😊 At least that’s the plan. I have in-laws in the area still so it will be nice to see them again.

Dog lies to us and wants to go out after dark, problem with this is where we camp most, the skunk population is a problem. Years ago another dog that we had wanted to go potty after dark and saw a skunk and lunged at it on leash and got sprayed. That was our longest night camping ever. Let everyone know that pets and wild critters can sometimes be a problem

I don't understand why people want to "boondock" at Walmart. I don't even enjoy shopping there, much less sleeping there.
@liferedesigned
@liferedesigned Ай бұрын
Walmart definitely would not be considered Boondocking by most in the community. It can however be a convenient and safe place to stay for a few hours when making a really long RV trip

Just speaking from experience. Most of my boondocking is on BLM land. I have 1200 watts of solar and it is still not enough to run my a.c. Not for long anyway. Most people, especially in the desert areas understand about generators in hot weather. Distance is key. Plus I try to honor quiet hours if it's cool enough at night. The only issue I've had so far was in a national park campground with an entitled neighbor. I was following the rules so all he could really do was complain. One thing I would like to point out. The longer you stay the more susceptible you are to critters. Take steps to deter rodents and bugs. Mice chewing wires makes for a bad day.

We’re boondocking now and we’re alone. There are two other campers but neither is close, the closest being maybe 1/4 mile away. Boondocking life takes planning like any thing else but it a beautiful life style.
