Thanks I'm trying I have only been in the rimfire for a year and have done lost of testing before the KZfaq channel to see what work and what not works. So I figure I should share what I know so people don't waste a lot of time and money and can get to shooting.

I clean the chamber with a chamber brush and then dry patch every 124 rounds. The bore only gets touch when the rifle tells me it wants it (about 500 rounds). I used to clean .22lr barrels after every use. That practice was killing accuracy.

I also use Boretech Rimfire Blend. I use two Myers’s custom 20 caliber rods and a bore guide. My procedure is, 3 wet patches, followed by a five stoke brushing with a brass brush, followed by two wer patches and three dry patches.. I do not put an oily patch because I shoot my rifles every week.. Boretech is absolutely the best I have ever used,,

Thank you for another great video ! Do you prefer lead or copper plated bullets ? Would the cleaning process differ if one or the other shot better in my rifle ? These days it seems you have to shoot what you can find.

I have been watching your videos lately, like the way shoot. I was wondering if you could tell me whose Bore Guide you are using? I had a CZ 455 and had a Bore Guide but the extractor which the guide didn't protect the rod, causing the coating to be peeled away. Looking at the MTR or Varmint to purchase once inventory comes back to normal. Thank you for the help!

I won't say cleaning a rimfire barrel is wrong, I will say for those who do clean the how and when is going to be greatly determined by ammo selection and quality if the bore. The one thing I will say is you NEVER push a brush out and let it touch the crown. This isn't a personal opinion, you can read this from several barrel makers for rimfire and center-fire. The crown can and will change from brushing.
@304rimfire5
@304rimfire5 2 жыл бұрын
I do it every time and still shoot perfect cards. Not saying your wrong but I have shoot over 10,000 rounds this season and I clean my rifle after card so 70 times and have not had a problem yet with the brush being pushed out messing the crown up. Just because someone says not to do it doesn’t mean it will hurt it until you try and I’m not about to quit because what ever I’m doing is working. Reason why I do that is because I watch what the top shooters are doing and there doing the same thing and some are a lot harsher when they clean there rifle then me. I appreciate your comment but you can’t believe everything you read.

@@304rimfire5 Shooting and all aspects of it from how, what to use, technique ...etc are all changing as we become more and more technologically advanced. Weapon development and components have changed light years in the last decade and are changing ever faster. The old school methods or rules are hard to break but slowly with more critical testing new methods are coming to light. Shooters the older they are will be slower to change where newer less seasoned shooters will adapt quick because habits are less ingrained. I know myself I had to see to believe some of my long held rules needed to change as I tried new methods that worked despite my doubts. Imagine what we will learn in 5-10 yrs from now.

Can I ask why you use a .20 on a 22lr barrel? Also is your cleaning rod a .20 or .22 lr?
@304rimfire5
@304rimfire5 2 жыл бұрын
Reason to use a smaller rod is because I don’t want the rod to touch the inside diameter of the barrel. Some cleaning rods say there .22cal on them but the rod is bigger in diameter and is hard to push down the barrel. So with the smaller diameter rod you eliminate the rod touching the inside of the barrel to cause any damage.

Why are you using a J. DEWEY rod for your patches and a BORETECH rod for your brushes? I used to use J. DEWEY rods but now use BORETECH. I recognize both by their handles.
@304rimfire5

Your right I have a Boretech and a Dewey rods. No reason for using the Dewey over a Boretech the Dewey is a 20cal rod and the boretech is a 22cal rod. I wanted to try a Boretech so that is why I'm using it and to be honest I will be using the Boretech over the Dewey's.
