I live out in the country in East Texas, not far from Tyler State Park. I LOVE ❤ living out in the country! We used to live in Tyler, Texas and it’s growing like wild fire. Thankfully the opposite direction from my home. Tyler drivers are crazy, well not all but a lot are. I hate going to town with crazy drivers & traffic! When I turn my truck around and head out to the country, stress lifts and closer to very little traffic, home, hubby and my fur babies 🐾.♥️🇺🇸🎶🙏🏼💙

Brad, I just moved from Baltimore city to a very rural community on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Been in the city for the past 35 years and now, all I hear at night are frogs, and crickets. People are friendly in stores and they KNOW YOUR NAME when you go in. The value of community is recognized.

I'm originally from Massachusetts BUT moved to the rural/country part of Missouri 8 years ago and this song pretty much describes the lifestyle of where I'm at. My life went from "life in the fast lane" to "thank God I'm a country boy." Where God and family come first. Everybody waves when driving in their vehicles and people genuinely care.

I grew up in Boston, I knew people who personally lost loved ones in the 9-11 attacks (2 were on the planes and one worked in the North Tower) I was in high school when it happened and as soon as I saw it I knew it was a terrorist attack (as did most people) so I knew instantly college was out and the Military was in, I joined right after high school and NEVER MOVED BACK. I’ve lived here in N.C. nearly 14 years, unfortunately eastern N.C. has become a *HITHOLE but I am planning to move out to either Montana or Idaho if I can ever afford it. I’m unfortunately living on a VERY FIXED INCOME as a Fully Disabled Combat Veteran so it may never happen. Where in MA did you live? I will say, I’m VERY VERY PROUD of being a Bostonian but I am also mostly a conservative outside of some key issues including the main one being that I am an Atheist. So my PRO AMERICA politics just don’t work in a communist state like MA.

@@ProudBostonian , I grew up on the South Shore from the town of Hull. My dad was from South Boston and my mom was from East Braintree. I too am a veteran. I joined the Air Force in 1973 and was medically retired in 1992 (ruptured and herniated disc's in my lower back). I was never in combat like you, you have my deepest respect. I've been to North Carolina, my brother lives in Clemmons, I had a total ankle replacement done at Duke in Durham and I visited an old Air Force buddy in Goldsboro. It's unfortunate that the liberals have taken over the cities in the south and don't blame you for wanting to leave. Unfortunately Idaho and Montana are kind of expensive. I'm not in Missouri because it was my dream destination but where I live is extremely affordable. There's no luxuries but it's decent and in a nice quiet town.

@Scotty ballgame , I'm really happy for you. I love Massachusetts but hate the politics and the high cost of living. I come back to visit about every 5 years to see family and friends. Out here, my stress level is nonexistent. I live about an hour drive east of Kansas City in a little farm town with no traffic lights, no hustle and bustle. The locals are super friendly and kind. Crime is almost nonexistent. My friends in the country treat me like family. The cost of living is way cheaper. I'm single and have a 1 bedroom apartment, and my rent is $400 a month. Lol ! I've learned to adapt and love this way of living. (Sorry for the long ramble)

Nothing is better than living in the country. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. Spent 32 years in the army and when I retired, moved to rural Georgia. Zac Brown went away from the style that made them so successful in 2019 with a release called "The Owl" trying to experiment in a different genre but then came back with "The Comeback". Like others have noted they have some really good material like "Colder Weather", "Toes", "Hwy 20 Ride" "Sweet Annie" and "Knee Deep" with Jimmy Buffett". There is a lot of music under the country umbrella that has a genuine message that I know you guys would love, continue down that rabbit hole.

True story. I lived next to a younger couple about 10 years ago and one night, I was out walking the dog and there was a bus in front of their house (actually, it was taking up the entire cul-de-sac), which was very unusual. At the time, we'd party together a bunch, but that night, I had a busy day the next day and was just gonna hang in the garage, drink beer and work on my arcade. So, the next night, we were hanging out and I asked about the bus. My neighbor had played the same college bar music circuits with the band years before and had stayed in touch. So, apparently, on their way through Atlanta, they just stopped by my neighbors' house and hung out for the night. I only wish I was hanging out that night. LOL.

Per Songfacts This was first recorded by The Zac Brown Band in 2003 for their 2005 album Home Grown . Frontman Zac Brown explained this celebration of a rural lifestyle to the national radio show GAC Nights: Live From Nashville: "The song is basically just a list of all the things that I love. Pretty much, this is who we are. And granted it was four or five years ago when we finished the song and we wrote it, but that's the roots, and basically it's like the more we get along and the older we get, there's very few songs that you can say 'I believe in,' and those are the things that I want to write about and sing about. And that was just one of those things that was captured in that song." Some time before this became the Zac Brown Band's breakthrough hit, Zac pitched the song to Alan Jackson to record, but his fellow Georgia native turned it down. "I had just recorded several songs about food, and I just thought I should not record another one at the time," Jackson recalled to The Boot. "I thought it was a good song, and I was happy when they had their own hit with it."

Country is a way of life. It's a little more work than living in the city. But it's worth it for those who choose to. People just have different values in the Country. That's not to say that there's no drama. But in the Country you can choose not to be in the drama because drama lives down the road and not on top of you or 30 feet away. And the parties are EPIC!! Plus, you get treated like you treat others. That's my experience anyway... I hope you guys choose to make this your best day EVER!!!

Nothing better than the country life. So freeing. The only drawback is you have to drive everywhere because literally nothing is just around the corner from you but more country. The farmer who owns the property across from me rotates his crops and his cows so right now I'm looking at a field of Sunflowers and this winter it will be a field of cows. The scenery out my front door changes with the seasons. The city just stresses me out as soon as i get near one. Much safer to raise kids in the country.

Zac brown use to play open mics at this small bar called Dixie tavern just outside atlanta years ago. It was always a great time when he played.

We moved to the country years ago and our 8 year old daughter pretty quickly stepped right on a copperhead and got bit on her leg. So it's not all being free and safe running around, but having some actual space is definitely nice. Except when you need to go anywhere, cause ain't nothing close out in the middle of nowhere.
