Anthony theoretically _could_ marry Siena, but he would destroy his family's reputation. Its not just that Siena is lower class than him, she's also a singer, and singers/actresses were particularly looked down on as being wanton and without class. Anthony's only a viscount, he's not in a position to do whatever he wants publically and have everyone be chill with it like a king could. If he married Siena, all the Bridgertons would get blacklisted from the ton and his sisters marriage prospects would go up in smoke. No one cares if he's messing around with her in secret, but he can't go public with that. When Eloise says "men can do what they want", she means in terms of career options and choosing the speed of ones life progression. Her brothers can theoretically fuck around as long as they want and persue whatever interests they want, she has a very strict set of milestones and expectations that must be adhered to lest she bring the family shame and embarassment.

It was super common in the Regency (and frankly, most historical periods) for first babies to be born less than 9 months after the wedding. Especially since engaged couples were allowed significantly more leeway for time alone together.

You guys are being too hard on the Featherington Mom. From her perspective, she's pulling out all the stops to get Marina married before her pregnancy starts to show. Otherwise, Marina will become a social outcast. Also, It would have been impossible for a Viscount like Anthony to marry a low-born (not not mention promiscuous) woman like the opera singer in this period, because it would affect the marriage prospects of all of his siblings.

I scroll the comment and found some that got sad coz they didn't react on the hand touching But then I realized these guys r bunch of guys who're used to reacts on superheroes series and what not (Hard Shounen). Its really interesting to see what they focus on in this genre. I actually learned a lot.

I love your reactions. You guys make me laugh a lot. Prussia I've been around in several forms for centuries but from the mid 1700s to the 1918 formation of the free state of Germany Prussia was for all intents and purposes Germany. And I think the girl who said oh I love Russia was supposed to be a little bit of showing how uneducated some of these girls were not just in sexual things. Men in that time in European society were allowed to have their dalliances before they married. Women were not. Women of the ton, those of parents who have a titles, especially had to remain chase. But what were men of the titled class supposed to do while waiting to find their virgin to marry? They dallyed with actresses and opera singers and widows and even married women were allowed to dally, just not girls who've never been married.. and they kept the women barely educated, just enough so they could carry on and conversation in a drawing room with a little bit of history and some romance languages thrown in but they didn't teach them anything practical. If you guys were right when one of you said he couldn't marry the opera singer because it would reflect badly on the rest of his family. That just was not done he was expected to marry someone of his class whose family would enhance his family social standing.
