I am so pleased that you pointed out that how ESC lost students, the number of administrators and non-teaching bureaucrats actually increased. This is a trend that I witnessed firsthand which began in the 1980s. The woke crowd demand these high salaried offices of this and that vaguely defined initiation and multisyllabic administrative posts, which while adding nothing to the educational value, they become employers for the very same malcontents who demanded their creation

It's amazing to me because in Europe, administration is almost non-existent due to the fact that the professors easily fill most critical admin roles on a rotational basis. A department chair isn't supposed to be some "high and mighty" position where someone gets to push around all of the other professors (people who add actual value to the institution), but rather, it's supposed to be just a practical job that needs to be filled by someone- someone has to figure out the budgeting tasks of a college. This is all to say, most of these budgeting issues at colleges center around the fact that American Universities are structurally extravagent institutions with completely unnecessary expenditures on nonsense make-work positions.

It has almost 1.5 million views! One French comment captured the moment perfectly when he said : "Pas terrible cet épisode de black mirror, les acteurs surjouent et franchement le scénario on y croit pas une seconde, les humains ne deviendront jamais aussi décérébrés." Which means - Not the best episode of Black Mirror I've seen. The actors overplay their roles and, frankly, the scenario is not really believable. Real human beings would never act so mindlessly". It is tempting to make one of many possible jokes about things Bridges did and said, but in the end, it’s not funny. I have met several Evergreen graduates and through your videos, I’ve become well acquainted with you and Brett and Heather. As far as I can tell, Evergreen was a very innovative and unique college, much like a college I attended. I can forgive Bridges for making mistakes, but I cannot forgive him not taking any responsibility for the destruction of a unique American college over which he presided. He ran it into the ground, then walked away with what I presume was a large sum of money and a generous pension. It does, of course, connect to the incompetence of our larger American leaders and institutions and we see the same lack of accountability and unwillingness to take responsibility. I hope Americans come to their senses before the county comes to the same fate as Evergreen and I hope Evergreen can eventually be “untransformed” to its former glory.

the problem I see if that ESC succeeds. What I mean. is that they continue wokery, but their graduates end up getting jobs in academia n business n schools as, well, people who eff things up (diversity consultants, equity champions, community organizers). The trend now is to hire more and more not just unproductive, but antiproductive woke-tards. @Benjamin A Boyce "Equity is what has caused Evergreen to tank and that is the one structure and system that they won't challenge, that they won't change" It would be foolish to think that George Bridges and the rest of the administration at Evergreen don't realize this simple and obvious thesis. If in fact George was completely unaware of the situation, he could potentially be forgiven. This however, we know isn't true. If any statistic proves the point is while the enrollment plummeted, the number of administrative positions went from 61 to 114! We all know they weren't simply hiring more custodians, stem professors or cafeteria workers. George and his college used the equity craze to do the very thing the academic world needs less of; bureaucratizing your way out of a problem.

Well, very sad. In reverse order, pretend it's a ship and crew with a captain in a storm: "There's a light at the end of the tunnel." "I'll take it and call it a trend." "Look for fall." "This is a slide we've seen before." And, oh, sh*t, "That is not a cliff," just as the ship intersects with the wall of rocks. Calling the cliff a system of Oppression and Privilege isn't going to make it fade away, nor is tossing bars of stolen gold at it. Davy Jones Locker is full of those that thought they could intersect, or avoid intersecting with, "That is not a cliff": Reality. One can put their Equity Lenses on and peek over the edge of This Is Not A Cliff and see a whole lot of equity below. There is only one type of equity. If Bridges does teach, a good book for him to teach would be, "Vision of the Anointed: Self-Congratulation as a Basis for Social Policy," by Thomas Sowell. It's from way back in 1995, but so timeless, it's almost as if nothing has changed at all, as if we may be stuck in a period of time that is a cage or car stuck in the mud or snow, spinning it's tires getting nowhere. A culture trapped and stalled by the least creative, most clone-like, dull midwit administrative class isn't going anywhere and will always be unhappy, poor, and spiritually impoverished. There's almost some sort of Dull Midwit Clone Machine that must pop these people out. They all look and act the same. It's as if they were birthed by Birthing People, taken and raised in a dreary orphanage and trained to become College Presidents, Governors, Presidents, Health Officers, School Board Members, Social Workers, Judges. And they had some sort of Fairy Godmother in a nun's habit tap them on the head each day and tell them how special they were, and that they were destined to change the world....then, would rap them across the knuckles and scream at them for having hands on the table and thinking themselves so privileged. And she would read these poor gray children picture books full of data and charts with lines going up and down, and show how to use those and call them data, science, and progress, or defeat when needed.

The level of intellectual dishonesty on display here is so remarkable that one fears the real problem is psychiatric. It is particularly striking when telling lies about numbers, not just the obviously mean and cruel people preaching love and compassion for personal advantage. Only a masochist would chose to go there. I especially enjoyed the financial goon explaining how a long term reduction of enrollment to less than half what it was when the madness started is somehow good news even whilst admitting it is in truth "unsustainable". Sadly, unsustainable is precisely what Evergreen is untill there is accountability. Something which the American polity in general has somehow forgotten.

The problem for Evergreen is that saying "I have a degree from Evergreen" (post 2017) is probably worse on a job application than "I never finished high school". Not finishing high school could give an employer the impression that you lack dedication, that you're lazy, or maybe even that you're stupid, but graduating Evergreen could give them the impression that you're a radical psychopath. If Evergreen wants to recover, they need to change that impression, and in order to change that impression, they need to publicly disown the direction of the college for the past 5 years.

I like how you show the students attending the various seminars Bridges introduced in the months before the protests, juxtaposing them like that. It brings home the fact that while one can (rightly) criticise their behaviour, their pseudo-activism is very much taught and spoon-fed to them. This fact, and the fact that they're just caught up in a mass hysteria fuelled by false accusations, lies, rumours, current news stories, threats from outside the college, their own echo chambers and a spoon-fed and poorly thought out ideology... it does help me understand and put in context their preposterous behaviour a lot more. It shows why the students alone shouldn't be blamed, mocked and criticised - their words and actions were fully enabled and encouraged by those with power over them (faculty and staff). P.S. I love it every time you give George a good mocking. The guy is a glutton for punishment, after all. ;-)

Oh, Christ. I just want to thank Benjamin for this. I've been fascinated with George Bridges from the first Evergreen video I ever saw, five years ago. The man is an absolute psychotic monster who continues to dedicate his life to poisoning kids with a level of race-based indoctrinated hatred that would make Joseph Goebbels blush. It would be super interesting if you could do follow up videos on all the characters from the Evergreen saga-- a sort-of, "Where are they now..." compellation. Basically, take that infamous picture of the Woke gang standing on a deck holding baseball bats, and tell us which Starbucks each one of them work at.

G. Michael Hopf’s quote comes to mind: “Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.” He can pat himself on the back for “caring”. I don’t think he’ll ever allow himself to see how he contributed to the destruction of the institution he purported to lead. It’s disgusting.

I'm french and I look at all this from a distance, eventhough I did follow what happened. I am surprised by the idea that Bridges seems unable to understand that he is part of the problem and, as such, he cannot and should be part of the attempt to find solutions. This man should be discarded. I guess that no other university in USA will touch him. This man is toxic. But he will continue to bring bad vibes on that university as long as he will be on campus. In other words, I think that this university will keep going down, and that the students will keep suffering. Congratulations for Benjamin Boyce for his videos. I have looked at a few of them already. I will keep watching. Rgds

@36:00 when you start asking the rhetorical questions about whether or not it's a good idea to upend the entire system to try in vain to make everyone fit, the answer is 'of course not'. Not only is it destructive to the institution, but any challenge worth taking on is going to have some rate of failure. The ideological push to eliminate failure and to include everyone is ultimately guaranteed to succeed when we are all in the grave. Until then, there will always be people who can screw up a cup of coffee and we need to stop destroying institutions to make them seem less pathetic.
