Lessons I have learned watching crime documentaries: 1. Never take out a life insurance policy if your spouse or someone you are close with asks you. 2. Always check for arsenic when you feel sick after eating food from the same person. 🤣🤣🤣

Seems odd that creditors kept lending to her, knowing she had no way to pay it back. And, instead of just marrying a wealthy man, married poor men, twice. It doesn't really make sense. She must have been enjoying murdering those people and getting away with it. They always get too confident.

I do not understand, some of these beautiful women. Financially stable men who are smitten by them, that could have given her that lifestyle she always wanted. Still they truly believe murder is the answer. How does someone just kill family? Evil to the core, cold hearted and soulless. May God have mercy on your soul...🤔 Oh! Forgot, no soul. I guess the justice system didn't like executioning women. Some got life. Thanks again for another Briefcase💼 in time.

11:00 - The most beautiful building I can ever recall seeing. Not until you look at the tiny people on the steps do you realize the semi-circle windows are 3 or 4 STORIES tall. It is inconceivable that they could perch that colossal dome so high up, rendered hollow by 4 spectacular, lacey skylights. The symmetry, ornamentation and proportion throughout are flawless. Sadly, now that Europe and America have been Africanized and the seeds of white genocide have taken root, the world will never again reach late Victorian levels of beauty in architecture, fashion, art or music.

After studying this case for more then 20 years, I have to say that the story you told is broadly correct, but I found some important incorrectnesses. For example: in two of the three bodies investigators did NOT found a deadly substance. In the third case they found indeed morphine. Specialist however, could not tell if the dose would have killed the victim. In those days, morphine was commonly used as a painkiller on prescription of a doctor. So, her sentence to death was not based on physical evidence, but on what we call nowadays circonstantial evidence (her debts). Being rich is relative. In the family you had factory owners, railway owners and e.g. Henri Joniaux had a salary that was 10 times the salary of a worker. But, I agree, the story is very interesting. You have to see it in the context of the (post)industrial period of a young country. Since Jack the Ripper in 1888 papers all over the world had their interests in this kind of stories and political parties influenced the papers even more than they do now. More of this in my novel: "Senor Carlos en ik". (Carlos was her stepson - novel not yet available in the bookstore - written in Dutch - 300 pages). And for the record: eventhough I have the same lastname as Maries husband: as far as I know we are not related. It's not dangerous to have a drink served by my wife at our place whenever you visit Belgium!

I’m only 1.13 in but I have to just pause it to say that either people’s perception of beauty was very different back then, or I really need to get my eyes checked. I just saw the picture, heard the phrase “extremely beautiful” and just sprayed my drink all over my iPad laughing. Sorry. Just wanted to share that.

Standards of beauty change over time, and modern society has come to demand total physical perfection before anyone can be considered beautiful. Back then it was enough if you were more attractive that the people around you.
