This is the final part of the Gearbox restoration on my Bsa B31 plunger model.
Filmed over a few weeks so there is some repetition and some scenes are out of sequence. Hope you enjoy it and find it usefull.

Good evening, a very good report on the transmission overhaul of the BSA B31. What amount of oil in milliliters is poured into the gearbox, I didn't find any information in my documents. Thank you for an answer. Michael

Hello. Your videos are very good!! What material is the bushing that supports the kickstarter? Best regards

Nice video, but one of my late mechanic advised me never use stainless on bushing. Material of the bust should itself wear off during the spinning not the gears! therefore, always soft material for bush not the stainless.

You’re probably right but all of the spinning shafts are running in Phos Bronze or ball bearings with the exception of the kickstart and gear lever both of which don’t spin and the original bushes were both steel. Thanks for the comment though, always appreciated and it’s how we all learn. Cheers B

It seems that they designed the last pre-unit gearbox to eliminate all the touchy portions of the previous ones. I’m eventually going to try mine out in the ‘53 B31 rigid frame it came with. I have a B33 500 top end for it that I hope to install. Only time will tell. On another note I just found your electric start utube, don’t know how I missed that! Has it dragged on anything yet? Is it 12 volt? Riding the old one lungers is so much fun in the favored areas, excluding the Los Angeles freeways. Thanks again, keep up the good work!

Hi, thanks for the comment. Regarding the electric start, the bike has been laid up awaiting restoration and I’ve not rode since the conversion was done. It is 12v now. I hope to start the restoration soon but some people are telling me to leave it as it is. Can’t make my mind up. Cheers Brian

I’m thinking about leaving my ‘51 unpainted and rusty. Wish I could send you a photo of it.
