Very interesting. I think they all sound pretty accurate. I am sure many Western artists and their companies are studying how BTS have amassed such a huge following and trying to figure out how to emulate that. The problem may be are their acts willing to emulate the sheer hard work that BTS had to do to be where they are? I doubt many would have the stamina. It is one of the things that sets them apart, the fact that they struggled and endured what they did for so long and just kept going when many would have just given up. This and their genuine love for Army. I think things will change in the music industry but many artist will be reluctant to put a fraction of effort into it than BTS has done and will always do.

Being western myself my personal opinion is that the way BTS and Army are connected is so extraordinary. At first I didn’t even understand the meaning and the strengths of this bond. I’m convinced the western artists don’t have the humility to feel committed to their fans that way, even when they try to emulate. They would never sacrifice their private life the way BTS and other successful K-pop groups did and still do. They can work hard and create beautiful music, but their commitment will never be the same. It’s not in their DNA.

I seriously doubt anyone could replicate the unique achievements and synergy BTS 7 have with ARMY. There has never been, and probably never will be anything like these incredible humans. The ideas and methods may give new artists some idea, but it is the incredible amount of blood sweat and tears, literally, that has raised BTS above all others.

⁠⁠⁠@@eileencritchley4630I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m sorry, I don’t have the confidence that western artists are going to emulate nor study how BTS and ARMY have a symbiotic relationship. The western artists are arrogant, not focused and do not posses the discipline to create quality music and to work hard BTS level. Asking them to write songs and releasing albums every year is not feasible.

True, BTS is like the blueprint of kpop now. But I still remember the times when BTS got ridiculed so much for writing and producing their own the songs because they say that they are too poor to even afford hiring people to do it for them. Back then Most kpop fans looked down on them cause they're not from the Big 3 and their company is too small and has no power and influence over the entertainment industry, and BTS aren't as talented or as good looking as other groups like EXO or Big Bang. So back then they were dubbed as the "ugliest kpop group" cause except for 1 or 2 members, most of the members are visual holes. ("Ugly" for not fitting the Korean beauty standards). They even want to kick out J-Hope from the group for being too ugly and severely cyber bullied jimin for being fat and ugly. Of course other members weren't spared. But since BTS became the biggest group not just in kpop but the biggest group in the World. Those people now says of course since they're manufactured by the biggest label and they say their fans only like them solely because of their looks. 🙄 I also remember the times when BTS created their own variety show because they weren't much invited to other talk or variety shows due too their poor influence and even if they did they get invited, they often get humiliated and mistreated by the shows which is why they just created their own. Now most Kpop groups copied BTS and created their own variety shows as part of their marketing strategy. And now, any Kpop idol or group who write their own songs or participate in the production process are praised highly but all of that is due to BTS influence.

Girl preach on, You speaking real facts.. 👏👏🥰 They never gives BTS real credits they done to change the game for Kpop world nor credits they do neither, and you are so right about BTS was the first Kpop group who started their own Vlogs, their own variety Kpop group TV shows America Hustler Life, Rookie Kings, Run BTS, Bon Vongue, The Soop BTS and their Bighit Staffs made those shows and all of suddenly other Kpop groups wants to copied them behind them to make their money to but you got some of their Kpop fans who doesn't want to give BTS credits for that, which is a shame because BTS was the one who started it first, not EXO, not Big Bang, not ShiNee, not Girls Generation, not even Psy or any no 1st Kpop Generation neither only BTS who started their 1st Kpop own variety KZfaq TV shows first, than other Kpop groups started having their own variety little group shows behind after behind BTS Oh course! @@Xstarzones2 you forgot to mention when BTS won their first award in America, weren't they got ridiculed because it's just a paper award and it's not worth mentioning. But after that all Kpop groups opened their KZfaq, Instagram, etc. cause they also wanted that award. They're really bunch of clowns. Also they accused BTS for plagiarism for wearing school uniforms which is quite popular concept back in the days, also they also accused them for plagiarism when one BTS member dyed his hair orange. They say it's plagiarism cause other boyband dyed their hair orange first. Which is so ridiculous, cause no owns the color orange. But when BTS created the Halloween dance practice and Kpop followed suit after seeing it's popular, but no one pointed that they plagiarized cause they say BTS didn't own it and it's just a popular trend. Also when BTS first and popularized wearing color pink, aren't other Kpop groups followed as well? Also when BTS released their first English full songs, they were mocked by Kpop community as well since they say BTS is too westernized and is looking for western validation. However, when other Kpop groups followed suit seeing how popular BTS English songs were, no one says a thing. I mean look at Black Pink they have more full English songs than BTS whole discography yet no one points that out. Lastly, if BTS gets accomplishment the whole Kpop gets benefits, but if BTS fails, the first one to mock them first are the Kpop fans. Isn't it a little bit unfair? If other groups gets accomplishment internationally, it's only their "own", they won't even give credits to the people (BTS) who made it easier for them to get that visibility to get those awards.

@@rafaelsmith5737 You talk about Grammy's when BTS was first nominated for just front cover album design not their music, nor their album Love Yourself Tears which was ridiculous in my opinion to me, Love Yourself Tears was one of BTS best album in my opinion, and BTS song Dynamite was nominated in 2nd year role at Grammy's but no Grammy's awards wins for them but a lease they got nominated for it, when BTS was Korea group first ever in history been on Hot 100 charts at number #1 but Grammy's did not give BTS no Grammy award wins for that at Grammy's instead they just give them nominated Pop duo song Dynamite, But I believe Grammy's was using BTS for Clouts views still, but still BTS did when couple music awards in was nominated for Grammy's multiple times still, Plus BTS did won other America awards like Billboards awards for Top Social Duo group awards, Pop Duo awards, BTS also won, iHeartradio awards on Boy With Luv with Halsey for Pop Duo, BTS won MTV music awards a couple times to on song Dynamite and song Butter on America Music Awards for Pop Duo, and most important the Artist Of Year award on song Butter in America awards 2 yrs ago, and you know rest of BTS astonished Asian awards in Korea and Japan many Popular MMA and MAMA Daesangs awards, their ICONs awards, Artist Of Year awards, Pop Group awards, Album Of Year awards even their UK British awards to not mention Teen awards In America as well. And, Yes most big 3 Korea JYP, SM and YG have looks down on BTS where they came from a smaller Company call Bighit and the fact BTS popularity was growing in Western over seas they got mad because of that because they thought it should be their Kpop Idols or groups big 3 Artist got more famous biger popular, louder cheers over BTS more from over seas with large views but thing is not many People from Western did not know many Korea popular Idols nor other Kpop groups besides BTS and PSY and yes some heard of Girls Generation but they was not into that type bubble gum Kpop music from GGs, and some knows who Big Bang was but doesn't consider Big Bang that big popular In rest not many different Countries In Western did not know who Big Bang are and Big Bang hardly never came over to the Western to make a big impact to change the game in America, UK, India, South Africa heck Big Bang never been number #1 top 100 charts Hot Billboards neither was ShiNee nor Girls Of Generation ever done that in America nor in UK top Billboards to change the game only BTS has done that which is facts, than rest of Kpop groups or Kpop Idols follows behind them to do same when they came to America to make Impact for themselves or Kpop groups, but thing is some of those Kpop groups Mangers tried to drag their Kpop groups to be BTS but thing is they can't be nor will be BTS which what Western fans does not like about some other Kpop groups who copied others who already done it, and than their Mangers tried to sh*t on those same hard working Kpop group who made it happened first on amount impact blue print status they achieves around the world, Now I'm all for other Kpop groups come to America or to UK other foreign Countries or cities but brings something new to table that makes you stand out or different Kpop from rest is all I'm saying look at Twice, Jackson, Lay, Zico, TXT, Seventeen, New Jeans, EXO and BTS Oh course! they always brings something fresh or new to table, new concepts, new storylines, different music that's does not sound the same songs on every other music sounds you make nor same genre's but switch it Up something different fresh and new concepts, new production, different styles on everything because People does get very bored hearing the same genre music or songs you know just saying especially loud noise music no offense to some you younger Kpop fans out there because that's all I been hearing from some of y'all favorite Kpop groups like Stray Kids, ATEEZ, Blackpink and some others to and I do like Stray Kids to and their different Personalities to but from what I'm hearing from them only noise loud music and that's all they never hardly switch Up in different genre's in my opinion especially Ateez, and Blackpink just saying in my opinions don't come at me it just my opinion if some of you Haters can't handle than move on I did not ask for your opinions this is opinions accept it and move on just sayin because I'm not going argue with stupid Clowns not you, but Haters yes but yea this is how I feel ok. @@Xstarzones2 I kinda agree with you, most of Kpop fans I've encountered who likes groups like StrayKids, pride themselves for being different, cause they say StrayKids is a self-produced group and they write and produce their own music. (As if Kpop groups like Seventeen, G-Idle, BTS, etc. don't) They even say they don't like BTS music because it's too soft and too poppy. They like StrayKids more cause it's more hardcore. And for them StrayKids rapline is far better than BTS. I honestly don't understand them. Like liking StrayKids is one thing, but do you need to bring BTS down just to praise your group? Besides by describing BTS as "soft" & "poppy" it's pretty clear they haven't really listened to BTS at all, yet they dare say that as if it's a fact. Though I admit StrayKids music and aesthetic seems cool and impressive, but what else is there besides sounding cool and impressive? It's literally like Black Pink, they just seem cool and impressive but what else is there? Of course, I don't hate nor dislike both groups since I understand everyone has different taste in music, but I just don't understand why Kpop fans need to viciously compete groups and put others down.

I think you're on point, as usual! 😊 The more successful western artists seem to understand the importance of an authentic, strong artist-fan relationship. It's one of the many things I love about BTS and k-pop...that emphasis. And I agree that it's not easy to replicate. It requires a lot of work

Good video. Taylor swift and Beyonce already started following the BTS model with festival events at concerts, content in movie theaters and some merch ideas. They did well financially because of that, but they also extremely overpriced things, especially concerts, to appear even more successful. So many in and out of kpop have been influenced by BTS and their marketing.

We already see this within the Thai TV culture where the stars mostly BL star hold fan meets and go live stream with fans via youtube and put out extra behind the scene's content where you get to see techinical bits and the actors messing about and talk to the fans. They make a connection with their fan base's. Now the Vietnamese are starting to it with one particular Actor and he's now getting his co actors to join him with lots of live's where we interact with him on youtube. It's very satifiying when they answer your question directly it makes you feel like they really want to communicate with their fans. I did the same with one member of one of my favourite British Bands and was excited to find out I live only 20miles from him. So yes I have slowly begun to see this happening the odd one or two. The covid period did help some artist realise the need to use social media platforms to talk directly to fans. To have conversations and not just to make some annoncement.

Emulating BTS will be difficult, especially for the Western countries. Artists are selected later in life, are not trained "in house" but expected to do their own diligence and often start their art studies after they gain a foot in the industry. Add the cultural differences of individuality, entitlement rather than putting the group first. Not living together as teen and not being dependent upon each other to survive also makes it harder to acquire a natural synergy between different personalities with different interests or skills, or different cultures in the case of multinational groups. Ballet, sports have their own academy but it's unlikely to see the West creating child idols after the debacle of so many ending up dysfunctional adults with addiction issues. Finally the West does not offer a packaged deal like Asian companies do, making the initial financing by parents or the teen artist almost impossible, nor is an art degree likely to incorporate skin care, acting, business principles, psychology and all the other insights BTS benefited from. Personally I welcome the emergence of music from variety of culture but for decades some countries have been used to dictate the global market and I don't think they will desist by 2024, furthering their decline as the public has access to what they like and will "vote" with their purchases. I look forward to see in 2024 how far the industry has evolved because of BTS, and then in 2025 watch them giving it another push in the right direction with the assistance of other groups if their companies are wise.

i have actually seen taylor swift started doing the same after BTS became famous in the west. she began thanking her staff and talking about her heardships and that draw fans closer to her. especially the last year or two. but idk if any other kpop group will inspire the same loyalty as BTS got. non of their fans camp out for days to be as close to the stage as possible. and no one will stream as much than army. it´s not only about the numbers of fans, but the dedication. and now that i see other kpop groups trying to replicate that by doing the same things to purposely connect to their fans seem fake to me. i mean it´s okay to get inspiration from others but now that all have adapted to BTS world of content it feels forced and fake. and i hate that i think all of them rather not do it. but BTS really want to do it. you as a fan, feel if it´s not authentic. and others pretend they don´t notice and rather live in their own fantasy.

Yes, I saw Taylor Swift in her documentary communicate on stage with her fans. She did this in her own personal way. And that’s okay. The connection with BTS feels deeper.

The idea of a album or series of albums telling a story first happen in the 1940's but then it kind of fell away until some British and one Austrialan Rock Band did it eg AC/DC and The Beatles since then it kind of faded away yet again. However BTS are the most known group to do it and they do it extremely well. Will other's begin to see how well it can work and have the skills, talents and willingness to try it out or will they see it either too hard or too riskie to try? Will their companies agree with their idea's even?

Remember that SUGA said artists should reduce their promotion but invest more in higher quality promotions that will be trend-worthy. It will be interesting to see how BTS proceeds in the furture. We all know it will not be exactly the same. Everyone else will try to copy the formula, but it will not work. The industry does not welcome uniqueness or originality unless it can conform to their closet producers. If you can make your own music, you are considered a threat, hence all active negative backlash RM gets anytime he trends. They want the next Hyuna and they want you to look the part with the same eyes. They want the next JK. You see tons of SK guys running around looking like JK's clothes. Since they can't clone legally yet, they are running to AI.

Artist and Music industries has learned a lot from BTS,everyone wanted to copy from them, Music and clothing line are same running after them, it just means to me that BTS has a huge impact whatever they do,but this 7 young men has thier own formula thier secret weapon to captures your attentions,bts knows the engredients how to hook up with thier fans called army,they the most loyal devoted armys accross the globe armys are bts driving force,without the love of armys bts can never be Succeed from where they are today,artist should value thier fans first then get the results,like what bts does to arnys..bts love respect and value thier armys this is thier tools and now everyone wants to copy this formula to be Successful.. Could you please explain the different "generations" in Kpop, what they mean and what's behind it? This was very interesting. I think you have an excellent take on the music industry. It's connected to what decade a group debuted in. There are now 4 generations of Kpop eg the first generation started the 1990's. BTS are 3rd generation as they started in 2013. The newest Kpop groups are the present generation are 4th generation.

There is a desire to replicate what BTS did, but none of them actually can. You know why? It would mean living outside of S.Korea for more than half of a year. BTS did this with support from local California producers. They developed a culture of doing their recordings or finishing touches in the west since 2014. It will be next to impossible without shedding an obscene amount of money for a lable to keep their artists out of the country than in it. SK labels survive on local endorsements and ad revenue. It is really the true purpose of many labels is to attract ad revenue. That is why they do not care about longevity of an artist. Someone else is in the closet making the music. All they need to do is keep debuting young faces that look like some famed people of the past. Plastic surgery eco is booming.

They will never become BTS because it all happened for them organically it was a result of all the trials and tribulations they weathered the storms coming out stronger that ever it all made them a family. Trying to replicate BTS is impossible it will be artificial egos will surface and all pretence of closeness fade away. Solo stan want BTS to break so their favorite will be best but none of them really beat the group as a whole.

You say it like it is a rocket scientist thing, and they saw them get their successes as you call it,what is the big deal there, if it is something the west want,easy they would have cashed in on it,believe me,bts has done their thing like many artists in the padt and will move on,and not only thst the west had done that long ago,why will they go and adopt what they invented,they can improve it if they want,and BTS style,will not work in the west,forget it they are successful yeah, but i see no one ever usingvthem as template in the west,stop pushing it,i mean how much fans does BTS actually has in the entire western hemisphere,i fon't see it at all.
