thanks for posting ! what software are you using to gather your parameters with ? might be an elementary question but I'm really getting some miles on my Uly and should probably invest in it myself. Thanks again 👍✊

I have noticed that my xb's timing will drift towards advance; perhaps they vibrate that direction?

Hey man is there a way to do this without the software? Maybe checking TDC in the front cylinder with a straw down the spark plug hole when the notch is in the inspection hole?

It's weird how far off the timing was while the cover was still OEM riveted on. It would have been interesting if you tried to move the timing plate by hand before loosening the two bolts to see if it had just slipped back on its own or not, the top fastener you noted was loose when backing it off and you can see where the face plate was scratched from the hardware. If it was adjusted by someone I would think you wouldn't see these linear markings in the plate but instead an imprint in deliberate set locations. I also noted there wasn't OEM paint markings from when timing was set at the factory as I found on my '07XB12STT which was yellow paint. Good job on the video BTW!

Those are just regular pop rivets, the previous owner must have riveted the cover back on. If you look closely at 5:25ish in the video you can see there are multiple marks from the several different positions it had been previously set to, even if you can't see it take my word for it, it clearly was set in different positions for some reason or another. The bike was barely running when I bought it and this was a huge factor in that. I'll put up another video soon of the resolution of the problem (hint: has to do with the spark plugs)... any adjustment on any machine set all the way to the end is an indicator of a problem.

question. i cant get my ecmspy to connect. will the timing mark in the inspection cover only show for the front cylinder? if so i dont need the ecmspy. i can just rotate it until the mark in dead center and if the fuel pump doesnt cycle i can adjust it until it does. i just changed the CPS and im verifying/adjusting timing.

Just off the top of my head, we woyld need to make sure it's the end of the exhaust stroke and begining of the intake 🤔

Maybe I'm wrong, but still doesn't sound correctly... 1 cylinder running and too much smoke. let us know if you did other adjustments after this vid. thx

@@tomserbaducci8559 shit i just fired a 07 xb9 that hasnt started in 8years and it sounds like it has a vtwin that bike in the video sounds like a buell blast w the single piston and a leaky exhaust or something

I know this is an old post but i did this and when i turn the timing sensor it will not prime the fuell pump, but it primes when i turn on the bike and press run. Its in 5th and the notch is in the center.
