I don't know anything about fish, fishing, ponds or anything. But there's nothing I enjoy more than cracking open a cold one on a Sunday night and catching a pond update. I have no idea why but I like it.

Imagining the quiet, in a boat floating, fishing pole, (retired bartender😝) ICE COLD BEER right? Or a margarita-2 or 3 lol, build a fire cook your fish ‘SMORES if you choose for dessert…and just steps to bed…g’nite..what a day…😁😁😁🙏🏻❤️ and while for all, us gals LOVE the wildlife. Obviously our friend Bama has the resources to carry on a project like this, but having said this, many more people with the same (or even way much more) resources don't give a damn thing about nature. @@peanutkix what is the point of using terms like “melanistic” in a KZfaq comment section? Do you think that you are in an environment that is frequented by biologists? Or do you just like to feel intelligent by using uncommon words? The black coyote is simply a coyote that has black fur. It’s like a black house cat. Typical domestic shorthair with black fur. Now you can go forth and inform your colleagues at the royal college of London about your findings as you sip tea and talk about the “little people”.

You should buy ShareLunker bass from the camelot bell guy in Texas. He sells them. They’re expensive but your pond is already very expensive so I figure you might as well spend another couple hundred bucks and get some ShareLunker bass fingerlings. They should get to 5+ pounds in no time for you. I’d also add mosquitofish guppies to eat your mosquito larvae and they’ll feed the baby bass that aren’t big enough to eat the bluegill yet.

Give those owls a nice 12-15 foot high "T" perch (on a 4" x 4" post) to survey your fields. Sure beats the owls/hawks scratching up your fish feeder and tractor!

I put salt blocks in my woods and over a few years I’ve noticed that the deer don’t eat the salt block but rather eat the dirt around it. After six or seven years I’ve had to move where I put the salt block because there was about eight inches of dirt missing and the area was starting to hold water, there was almost a 6-7 foot pond around it. I think the deer eat the soil around the salt block for the minerals in the soil. So leave the salt block out and watch it over a period of time, maybe try that with both types of blocks and check it out over time.

Good luck with the leak! My aunt tried multiple different things to try to stop her pond from leaking, even draining 6-7 feet and digging up the area of the dam and re- packing with clay

for the deers you wonna put the saltstones/ lickstones on a post, pure wood no woodtreatment of any kind, that way when it rains the " salt" will run down over the post and they lick it of there. i've done it for the last 30 years and it works like a charm. also it help keeping the deers in the area but alsot benificual for the deers healthwise

Place the mineral block in a hole so that it just protrudes out of the ground, its better to use multiple blocks in about a 20 ft circle. Will be a bit tough on the grass and other flora though and the deer will keep it torn up. So place it away from the berm.

It’s a shame that the pond has leaks. Did the company who built the pond take any responsibility for the leak? Good to see a video this week. 😃

Its not their faults its the owners fault for not putting enough layers of clay where the leak seaped through the mud instead

I don’t see how the owner who paid for a service and doesn’t own the equipment or have all the expertise of the company should be at fault. That’s why you hire a company to provide a service for you. No different than going through a fast food drive thru, buying a new car, etc. I’am curious to see what the company defines as a “leak”. Either way it’s more time, money, and a huge set back.

@@promontorium I work with General Contractors and work for a General Contractor. Unless the laws have changed or are different in Alabama. The excavation company who BamaBass hired was a pond builder if I recall correctly from the pond builder series. If the same company built up the foundation for a house and the house foundation cracked or the earth/grade failed it’s a similar problem as here. Again based on laws but, most states have a 1 year minimum clause for foundations/structures. The same is true for new builds on homes. He needs to check his contract and Alabama laws. Not to mention EPA as they are involved in water shed control. He is not at fault even if he acted as his own GC. The company who installed the product is at fault. Same logic if he or you hired a painter. That painter chose to air gun paint on a windy day. Then the paint blew over to the neighbors or onto the roof. Who is at fault? The wind, the painter, or the homeowner, or the PSI in the tank? The point Im making is that if the contractor and homeowner have insurance. Which both should. Then this also should be settled or considered by the insurance carriers. I also work with insurance companies everyday. Since it took 50 days to fill up they are within the 90 day probation period as defined by most contracts not excluding the 1 year minimum clause. That is if the last major work completed on the property fits that timeframe. Again, based on contracts, agreements, lien rights etc.
@byronsmith3152
@byronsmith3152 2 жыл бұрын
@@nathantraylor9601 You are correct. However, it also depends on the contract, if there is one. if the contract if for excavation, providing and spreading dirt ONLY, then they are not liable for anything as the contract does not stipulate a "waterproof system". Attention to details in a contract are crucial.

Hopefully that is the only part of the clay liner that is leaking. It could also be leaking on the bottom or on the other sides and you just don't have mud to reference cuz it could just be soaking back into the ground. Seems like this stuff would still fix it though! Very nice
