In this video I build a new #farmhouse #table for our backyard patio. Get a snack, sit back, and enjoy watching me pretend to be a #woodworker for a change.
The plans for this table can be found here:
www.ana-white.com/2012/11/plan...
Similar Bench as I built but slightly different (I couldn't find the same plans for some reason): www.ana-white.com/2011/01/plan...

Looks awesome. I'm currently building it myself, though as I'm using it for a dining table I'm putting in a lot of work with a planer to try to get it all flat. I think I'm being a bit too much of a perfectionist for something that's supposed to be rustic, but oh well. One recommendation for the Kreg jig is if you're doing mainly 2x material, the Kreg HD is totally worth it. Far more substantial screws that will give you a lot more confidence in the end.

Very nice piece. With your housing joint, you're giving yourself a lot more work than you need to do. When you cut your slices in to get the cut-out, make the slices closer together & more of them. That way, you just have to tap the slices lightly with a hammer & they'll break by themselves, leaving you with hardly any chiselling to do in order to clean up the housing. Your chisel also looked a little blunt. Best of luck.

I have had a similar problem with the Kreg pocket hole jig set. Each time I've had a problem it has either been: 1. I incorrectly set the drill bit depth or, 2. I missed the hole for the screw and drove it offset, usually because I was in a hurry. I've gotten into the habit of starting the screws by hand because you can feel that you're seated in the hole correctly, and then drive it in.

Thanks for this video. I'm building the exact table right now. (Ana White Farmhouse Table with pocket holes). Just bought the same Kreg kit that you used here. You installed the stretcher supports to the 4x4 legs on the outsides of the 4x4 legs. Would there be any disadvantage to installing them on the inside of the 4x4 rather than outside? Few more inches for leg or foot room on ends.

Nice table! I'm building a similar table, did you have any issues with using the pocket hole screws to attach the breadboards? Hi, I’m currently building this exact table. I’m having such a hard time putting the breadboards on. I was going to skip the pocket hole screws and just glue, however I’m struggling to properly clamp it. When I drive the drill for the pocket holes it moves my board so I have a big lip on the top. It’s not flat and flush. So I’ll have a bunch of sanding to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You are using your drill settings backwards. The slow speed (setting #1) is high torque for putting screws in. The faster speed (setting #2) is for drilling holes.

hatefulcrawdad I only mentioned it as a suggestion to solve the issue you were having with the Kreg bit and screws that you mentioned. Take it or leave it. 🤷‍♂️
